What do I need to have for foot surgery recovery?

Having 3 tendons repaired, talus broken and reset, and calcaneous removed from talus as well as heel cord surgery to repair the arch. I know I need ice and elevation, what is the best way to do this

  1. large ice packs (several ) and a wedge pillow
  2. After the surgery you may not be able to ice for a while because of the surgical dresssings. If they aren't too thick, then crushed ice works best because it conforms to the area. You need to make sure you elevate abover heart level. Get a stack of pillows or a wedge pillow for when you are laying in bed. Simply sitting in a recliner won't be high enough to get your foot elevate above the heart. Try laying on the couch with your foot on the armrest (making sure you support your legs for your own comfort). Good luck with your surgery.
