Have you had foot surgery with pins or plates?

I broke my foot from a fall six yrs. ago, and now my podiatrist feels due to arthritis, malformation and deterioration I need two pins and a plate or fusion, has anyone had extensive foot surgery similiar to this, was it successful and would you do it again.

1. i didn't have the pins and plates in my foot but i did have 12 pins and 2 plates put into my ankle, it's only been a few months since the surgery but according to the surgeon and the physical therapist they both said it was very successful and according to them both it will cut down on the arthritis in the future... thus far i have no complaints other than the normal " the incision site itches and is it normal to be able to feel the plate through the skin" both of which the answers are yes too.. good luck
