Help for flat feet?

I have extremely flat feet, my left foot rolls in and almost looks like I am walking on my ankle, my right foot isn't as bad but still doesn't have an arch. I have shoes inserts which don't seem to help. My knees and ankles constantly hurt and are swollen and I am not sure what I should do. Doctors are just saying I should be in pain and it's nothing that inserts can't help. Should I consider surgery or is there anything else that might help? Thanks!

  1. you are screwed
  2. learn how to waddle and be an impersonator
  3. Surgery may be your best option, if custom-molded inserts aren't working. Sad to say. :( But no one should ever be in pain for the long-term.
  4. umm...if you plan to get surgery, first be sure to know everything. such as the risks you are taking. good luck
  5. Look into getting costom shoes. New Balance does make shoes for people with flat feet.
  6. maybe certain stretches would help...ive been dancing for 10 years so im always stretching my feet and my arch gets better every year...point and flex those feet! it might help...
  7. My little brother doesn't have any arches either. The best thing i could say would be to keep the inserts. you should've gotten corrective shoes when you were younger (that's what i had to get and i walk fine now) you may be able to find corrective shoes now. good luck.
  8. You should try rolling a tennis ball under your foot and move it around in circular motions. Two of my friends are "flat-footed" and their completely-different doctors recommended it to both of them.
