My feet are flat as a board, no arch at all, and I want one! Is there a cure for flat feet? Exercise/Surgery?
Thanks for the responses, everybody! I guess I was hoping there was something I could do, without going the surgery route...but Yahoo says this topic will expire unless someone new comments on it...?

- i knew a girl in grade school who had to wear special shoe for this...i think there is probably a non surgical way to form one....but what do i know, i'm no foot doctor!!
- I don't think so, special shoes only work when you use they at an early age... if finally you get an appropriate answer let me know, I also got flat feet and they hurt like h,e,l,l. we should make a yahoo group fo people with flat feet "lol"
- yes but its painfull
- The good thing about Flat feet, is that you can't join the Army!
- OMG you have the exact problem i do..i ask my mom all the time if there is a surgery for it..she tells me no but i think there is..and it sucks because i can't dance. i can't do pointe with flat feet it hurts too bad. and i can't wear some of my shoes either.. none of my friends have flat feet so they don't know what i go through when i tell them to slow down walking because i have a cramp in my feet, because ALL my shoes are made for people with arches. but i would like to ask a foot doctor if there is a surgery for it. haha thats right you can't join the army! YESS!!
- if u can afford it go see a podiatrist ( foot doctor )
- start buying shoes with a little arch in them. i used to wear high heels alot and my arch of my foot was really good, not to mention my calves had muscle. I noticed through the years that my arch of my feet & my calves muscle had decreased. I had stopped wearing my high heels and traded them in for tennis shoes.
- you can't really build one once it is flat, but I have somewhat of an arch because I wear really supportive shoes that have over time given me an "arch" My parents who could ill afford the good shoes made the sacrifice, and because of them and what I do for myself now I can actually leave a small arch when my feet are wet. I can dance and run with no problems at all.
- Most cases of flat feet cause no symptoms and require no treatment. Occasionally insoles or supports are needed. In a very few cases surgery is done, so yes, there is surgery but it isn't usually required. The link I've included gives good information.
- Yes there is a cure for flat feet. The first thing you have to do is go see a podiatrist. They will be able to get you on the right track. He/She may let you wear some sort of splint for your feet that you would have to sleep in for awhile and prescribe medication. You could also try researching it yourself on the web and see what you come up with, but your best bet is to get to the Podiatrist quick...if you want some relief.
