  1. I just had arthoscopic knee surgery on my meniscus and the cost was right around $2,000 before insurance coverage.
  2. Depends on where you live, your insurance, the ethics of your physician/hospital, etc. Assuming you live in an average metropolitan area, have pretty good insurance (BCBS, Aetna, United, etc.), and your physician/hospital is honest, here are ballparks by procedure: ACL - $1,250 Meniscetomy - $500 (Removal of section of meniscus) Meniscus Repair - $700 (stitch in a meniscus) These are the fees before things such as: anesthesia, inpatient care (if needed), medications, assistance required by physician in performing the operation, rehabilitation, the usual "little stuff", etc. Your insurance plays a role, regardless of your deductable, by stating what an "allowable" charge is. This often reduces the amount the physician and/or hospital can bill you. An ACL repair can easily rack up $4,000 in charges by the time it is all said and done, depending on a lot of the little stuff.
