Anyone had the Lap Band surgery?
Has anyone had the lap band weight-loss surgery that could share their experiences with me? The negatives, the positives, what you can and cannot eat, and so on. I'm looking into it but I'd like to hear other peoples' experiences before I pursue it further. Thanks!

- no sorry i havnt but ive heard on the grape vine its very good for loosing weight but i do get the mpression from some british tv programs that its a permanant fixture & is either very hard to rmeove or cant be removed consider it well before you do it!!
- nope. but ive had other surgeries...and they all cause lots of weight loss, whether theyre meant to or not. so be sure this one actually has lasting effects, and not just a temporary loss due to surgery. try searching the web page below or finding similar ones that list details.
- My ex- wife had the surgery. We were married at the time. Besides the porions of your meals being smaller, and your intake of water has to increase, there really aren't any downsides. Its a little uncomfortable at first, but after two or three weeks, normal activities will resume. you have to go back for the addition of saline from time to time, but other than that, its cool. My ex- wife has no problem with it.
- I had the surgery 11 months ago and I have lost 80 pounds so far. I recommend joining lapbandtalk.com where you can get all the information you could possibly want from hundreds of people who have had the surgery. Of course, the site is free and is basically just a forum for people with the band. There are even a couple of band surgeons that answers questions on that board for any band patient not for just their own patients. Good luck.
- Weight loss surgery-like gastric bypass /lap band surgery / stomach stapling and gastrectomy have become very common and very safe now. My cousin got her Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery in India. She has lost more than 65 lbs in 5 months and is very happy with the results. The price for obesity surgery is very less in India. My cousin just paid 25% of the cost she was quoted in America. She got her surgery from a company called Forerunners Healthcare. Forerunners Healthcare is very famous in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and magazines. I have read a lot of their patient stories also. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low cost, as bariatric surgery and weight loss surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that your Obesity surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star. http://www.forerunnershealthcare.com Hope this helps.
