Public Comments
- In 1893, the first successful American open-heart surgery was performed by a Black Doctor. Dr. Daniel Hale Williams completed the operation on a young man named James Cornish. He had been rushed to Provident Hospital in Chicago with a stab wound.
- Little known fact.............. Dr.Hale died of a heart attack. He collapsed in the street and died in transport to a black hospital, when there was another one near that he could not be admitted to that would have saved his life.
