told i have to have gallbladder surgery and never had a gallbladder attack?

i was having a pain on my left side above my hip for a few days and went to the doctor, she ordered a blood test and an altrasound the next day she called and said i had a bad urinary track infection, i had never had one before and she was shocked i wasnt experiencing the usual symptoms like burning sensation when urinating and wrote me a perscription for antibiotics then a few days later she called and said i had to see a specialist because my altrsound results showed i had gallstones so i went to see the specialist and he said i have a 1.5cm gallstone in the neck of my gallbladder and that my gallbladder had to be removed, so he scheduled the surgury a few days after that and i got on the web and found a lot of people saying that instead of having surgury they flushed there gallstones, so i cancelled the surgery the day before i was suppose to have it done and figured i would try that first and then schedule another altrasound to see if anythings change, i have never had any stomache problems or gallbladder attacks and im in good health and shape never had surgery and dont want to do it, any suggestions? 1.5 cm's is not all that big, but i guess since it's located in the neck of my gallbladder i was told it could cause a block, but as of now it isnt, fyi.... does anyone know of a good recipe to flush this gallstone?

  1. Get a second opinion QUICKLY.That is a lg stone and within days you could start having problems. That's why they moved on it so quickly. It's the size of a pearl in a very small organ.
  2. I, too, have been TOLD I have gallstones after an ultrasound and must have it removed, but since I do not as yet have a lot of pain there, I am hesitant. However, in searching it out, I have learned that Olive Oil can help dissolve/pass those gallstones, so I am taking Olive Oil straight (couple of tablespoons) or on salads, etc. daily to see if I can get rid of them that way first. Hope that's helpful. Also, I THINK your gallbladder is on the RIGHT just under your ribcage, but can't swear to it. When I had pain on my left between my hip and ribs, it turned out to be a GAS POCKET! Drink CRANBERRY juice to avoid further urinary tract infection. Good luck!
