How serious is having a torn shoulder labrum?

- Best thing to do is talk to your orthopedic doctor because the size and the location of the tear will determine your prognosis or weather surgery is needed. Often this type of injury will not heal and may require surgery. I frequently treat people after labrum repairs. Result are usually very good and people do well. I have also seen some people do OK and heal without surgery but not often. Hope that helps. Good luck.
