Gallbladder surgery, Did I make the right choice?
I went to see a surgeon today because I have a gallstone. He said I have no symptoms and only one gallstone so did not need to have my gallbladder removed. However, when I told the surgeon that my husband and I plan to have another child in the near future...he said "good enough reason. Now let's talk about the surgery". The surgeon gave me a choice and I chose to have my gallbladder removed. Also, I've had kidney stones for the past 2 1/2 years and didn't want more pain in my future. Plus the risks of gallstones in pregnancy. Do you think I made a smart decision to get surgery? My surgery is in 2 weeks. maybe- wow 100 gallstones. Yes I don't need that after going through pain from Kidney stones the past 2 years. I had a kidney stone that was 8mm and don't need gallstone problems in my future! MY GOD! LOL. Stefanie M- That is so painful to have not been able to be there for your newborn. After my C-section with my son I had to go to the ER cuz of slight infection and cried my eyes out all the way to the ER just cuz I was leaving my newborn all night long.

- Yes I suffered through gallstones with 2 pregnancies and by the time I got it done I had 100 gallstones. I was also really sick by the time I got it done.
- Yes. I had the surgery and it is very simple. You go home the same day and it's going to keep you from having a attack while pregnant.
- I think it would probably be smart and here is why...a week after I had my 2nd child I started getting really sick. No one knew what was wrong with me I was vomiting and in sooo much pain I couldn't get out of bed to even take care of her. I went to three hospitals and had every test done before they finally checked my GB. It was really inflamed and my body was being poisoned. I went into emergency surgery immediately. Looking back the worst part was not being healthy enough to take care of my daughter when she was born...so I would spare myself all that pain and possible separation from your new child. They say pregnancy brings on gallbladder disease :o( The surgery was simple and not really painful either ...best of luck to you!
- I had to have my gallbladder taken out through emergency surgery, the after effects arent horrible. It isnt an organ that you really need. So if you are just going to get more gallstones its up to you. It took me about a week of being really sore and then I was fine.
- i had my removed 5 month pregnant top of that i had to get my appendix removed too, it was ready to blow, and now my baby going to be 7 months old..
