I'm 14 and I HATE my nose so much and it makes me really really depressed? Do you think this is a good plan?

i'm 14. and afreshman. i hate my nose so much. it really ruins my life. i've been REALLY hating it since 7th grade. i was self consious before then. and i feel like no matter what i do i can't be pretty and i don't have that much potential. and i think about my nose so much. no, i won't grow into it. my mom, dad, and older sister all have really big noses. mine is really really long from profile. and there's a slight bump. a few times my friends have told me i have really big nostrils. people have commented on my nose. from the front it's not horrible but it's slightly wide. and when i smile its REALLY bad, my nose scrunches up, the middle part droops down, and my nose looks super wide. and from the side when i smile it points down. it looks like a triangle or something from the front. it makes my face SOOO awkward. i've never seen a nose that looks like mine when i smile. i have nice hair and i think i do everything possible to try to be pretty. i wear eyeliner and everything..and i have good fashion sense.. i always feel disgusting just because of my nose. and i don't feel insecure about anything else. or at least nothing else about me seems like an insecurity compared to my nose. my older sister is now 19 and used to complain about her nose all the time and how she wanted a nose job so bad. her nose has always fit her face more. but mine is more awkward and ugly. so my family isn't very rich at all. but i go to a private school and it's like more than $15,000 per year. i dont like my school. and a nose job is like $6,000 to $8,000 right? and i've wanted to transfer to this public school which is the best in the city and i wanted to go there but i didnt get in this year. it costs no money to go to that school. i'm a freshman. so my plan..do you think i could transfer to a public school my sophomore year and then spend my sophomore year there. then get a nose job the summer after sophomore year? obviously people are going to be like nooo be happy with yourself and it gives you character..aha..no. btw my mom likes that public school way better than my current school because it's a lot better academically and if i changed my mind i could still be going to the school that i want to go to anyway. is this a good idea? id be pretty much 16 the summer after sophomore year. and you CAN get a nose job when you're 16 because most peoples faces are mostly developed. and ive heard of many 16 year olds getting nose jobs its more of me wanting to get a nose job so i could feel confident and happy and not suffer through my high school years feeling disgusting.. i know everyone has insecurities but my nose is different. its more obvious and im sure im FAAR more insecure than the average person is about their insecurities.

  1. I really can't imagine your parents paying for your nose job. Wait till you are 18 and get it done then. For now focus on things that make you feel pretty and use makeup and such to draw attention away from your nose.
  2. Stop caring about what other people think about you so much. And don't let the world define beauty for you. Just be happy and be yourself. Everyone in the world has something about themselves that they dislike, but if we all went around getting plastic surgery for every single thing, we'd all be 'perfect' and still unhappy anyway. In the end it's not what's on the outside that counts hun.
  3. I have a big nose like yours too. except my bridge is thin and long, and then I have this big weird like ball on my nose. and it looks really weird. Wait a while till your older to get a nose job, like once you are in college.
  4. I think that you should attempt to build your self confidence. If you still feel really upset, your family will support you getting a nose job. However, i have a friend who got a nose job, wasn't happy with the results, and got another one. The first one looked worse than her real nose. The second looked terrible. She then got another nose job, and it looked even worse than that. Be happy, and try to focus on other things.
  5. Get a nose job when you are 18.
  6. All that about a nose. Wow.
  7. Alright, you said it all in your paragraph so I'm not going to be the one to say "nooo be happy with yourself" because I, myself HATE my nose! This question honestly stood out from the rest because yes-- at times I cry because my nose is so ugly. I am SO self conscious and people have remarked upon it too. Anyway, I'm planning on getting a nose job when I turn 25 years old and I receive my trust fund, this way my parents won't have to see on their bill that I've paid for plastic surgery (they are disgusted that I hate the way I look). If your parents are all for it, I don't see any reason why not to. Confidence and happiness is actually a better reason than most (aside from medical reasons, of course). Actually being unhappy with physical appearance can seriously lead to depression and suicidal thoughts. Yes, I know I'm going to get a million thumbs downs for supporting your idea but hey-- I can actually relate. Before you switch schools, consider this. Do you seriously want to leave all of your schools behind? If you are okay with this idea, than run it by your parents. If you lay out a proposition with a specific recommended Plastic Surgeon, the price, your idea, etc... than I really can't imagine them saying no. Tell your parents exactly what you've said here, it's for a better self-image both inside and out. Make sure to look up all of the possible risks and such too. Until you can get a nose job, look up ways to help alter your nose appearance with make up. I have a large nose, so I use the bronzer on the sides, foundation on the top, and blend method. Until I turn 25 years old (or at least until I can convince my parents) this method has worked for me! Look it up. Good Luck! Catherine
  8. I think that if getting a nose job will make you happier (and it sounds like it will) you should go for it! It sounds like a good plan. You should tell your parents all of this, your insecurites and whatever. And maybe even offer to get a job (or I guess you're too young, but you could help out around the house or neighborhood) to show that you are willing to pitch in a little for the nose job, and don't just expect them to pay for it all. PS a girl at my school (who was a senior at the time) got a nose job, and it was no big deal And just so you know, she was a beautiful girl, with, and without the nose job.
