I need knee surgery (ruptured ACL), will my private parts ever be exposed during surgery for any reason?
Public Comments
- Only if the surgeon and nurses want a laugh
- its possible, youre knocked out in a hospital gown. Who cares though?
- Theres no reason to expose your private parts during knee surgery. The gowns in a hospital are open in the back though and you wont be allowed to wear your underwear to surgery.
- Hey, i seen an ACL surgery when i was a physiotherapy student, and i'll be honest, I seen the guy's privates being exposed. This was only for a split second, when the surgeon was bending the knee up. But they immediately covered the patient up with the gown. Its no big deal, anyone present there is used to seeing that stuff all the time. It will mean nothing to them, and they will try to maintin your dignity at all times, even if you are knocked out. All the best :)
- Hey there. Don't worry about it. Hospitals usually have a privacy policy. Even if look, it ill be an accidental glance. They can't do anything about it. Where are you having your surgery?
- All of our Orthopaedic patients wear a hospital gown and paper pants during their surgery so there is no need for anything private to ever be on show at any point so stop worrying. Even those who have a hip replacement who have their pants cut on one side for access still have their dignity maintained by being covered in the middle. Doctors, nurses and theatre staff are all professional people who's job it is to make the experience as pleasant as possible - they really aren't interested in anyone's private parts.
