Rhinoplasty...Deviated septum ?

I'm going to get rhinoplasty in December, and I was wondering what is the procedure like to correct a deviated septum? I've broken my nose so many times I can barely breathe out of my right nostril anymore. How is this fixed? I go in for another consultation this week but I'd still like to have some information ahead of time. Thanks.

  1. It isn't pretty. They have to mechanically break and then manually reset the bone tissue and bandage it. There will be a lot of swelling and you won't be able to breathe through your nose at all for a couple of weeks. It will be painful for about 4 days, and they will give you good medication to control it. Just be sure to get plenty of fiber and water, because the pain medication is constipating. But it is important to have it done so that you can breathe properly.
  2. Over the summer I had septo/rhinoplasty performed. The surgery all together took three hours. 1 for the septoplasty and 2 for the rhinoplasty. Prior to the surgery breathing from the nose was extremely difficult for me, in fact people say I used to snore. I also have seasonal allegies, so my terbolones (sp) were swollen. After the surgery though, I was amazed. I never knew that breathing this clearly was possible. I don't snore anymore and according to my sister I don't sound nasally. Plus I love what rhinoplasty did to fix my crooked and rather large nose. I am very happy that I did it.
