Extreme weight loss...and extra skin?
My junior year in highschool, i lost about 65 lbs. I went from 5'4, 200 lbs to 135 lbs. I am now a freshman in college, and i STILL have extra skin. It sucks because it still makes me feel fat and i still cannot wear a bathing suit with confidence. So, it's been three years and the extra skin has not left my body. I heard toning doesn't work because you can't actually tone extra skin. I wanted to see a nutritionist but my mom thinks i won't really use it. Is surgery my only option? I'm upset that I reached my goal weight, but I feel like i look worse than i did before. Please help!

- First off, let me congratulate you on that excellent achievement. That's wonderful. I'm a nutritionist and I can say that I would recommend seeing a doctor about it. I would ask questions about your current diet and exercise routine as well. Unfortunately, when the skin has been stretched and unstretched so quickly, it doesn't always have the ability to shrink as well as we would like it. I would talk with a doctor and see what they say. Surgery might be the best option. Toning might only get the skin to a certain point of being not as extra looking. Still that's very amazing weight loss. I have a friend that lost about 150lbs and has a great amount of extra skin. Her arms are the area that are most impacted (well easily seen). When someone asked her about if she was going to have it surgically removed she said "Not right now. It's my medal for reaching my goal. It might not look great but I use it remind me of my struggle and why I should work to stay healthy." Let me know if there is any way I can help! Good Luck ~L
