Can you get Rhinoplasty for free or at a much cheaper cost if you are a surgery "guinea pig"?

i have heard of a program in NYC wich allows intern doctors to perform rhinoplasties with the supervision of their attending MD at a much cheaper cost or even free, but the patient can not sue if anything comes out terribly wrong. Can anyone tell me if this exists here in NYC or anywhere?

  1. What you are describing is residency or fellowship, and patients at teaching institutions typically pay for cosmetic procedures. Interns are in their first year of training after medical school, and you really don't want them doing much more than assisting in surgery at that stage of the game. Seriously, I've seen enough surgical interns to know what I'm talking about in my 18 years of giving anesthesia. You might be able to get a reduced cost if you have a deviated septum, or other nasal deformity, and you have an ENT surgeon do the rhinoplasty as part of another (covered by insurance) procedure. Otherwise, I wouldn't take the risk, if such a program even exists. Which I doubt.
