Is severe discomfort in the upper abdomen near my ribs with no pain typical of gallstones?

I'm in my mid 20's and about 5 yrs ago after a meal in another state out to eat I experienced a very full feeling and then later in the night threw up and seemed to feel better somewhat. Came home happened again and possibly 1 more time over a few months. Went to the Dr. and we did an ultrasound he said I had a bunch of gallstones. Put me on low fat diet I did that for awhile and in the past 5 years I would say it only happened a few more times...until recently. Note that previously when I would feel sick and throw up it was normally within 6 or so hours after I had eaten typically after midnight and I would get some relief from having to throw up. Each time after the first few times I experienced less and less relief from vomiting. Also note there has never been pain, only a fullness at first and then nauseous and then I would need to vomit at some point and the feeling would last a day or two of discomfort in my upper abdomen near my ribs. Not sure if some would call it pain, but its not like ow! ow! If its pain I would say dull and pretty much constant. Now since April of this year 2008 it started again, maybe it was the way I had been eating before that, I did lose 30 lbs in 3 months a year ago and it probably came back on somewhat fast because, well I was in another country where it was hot and iwalked frequently and ate mostly healthy food and well American lifestyle ..atleast where I am doesn't match that so anyway moving on, not sure if this made it worse and it just didn't affect me till later like if it builds up? or more came or what but April is when it started again. Only this time the feeling lasts for a week or two! I've been reading many articles online about gallstones and most say that there is severe *pain* involved and normally lasts for 15 minutes to 4 or 5 hours, 1 article said if longer than could be a complication like Cholecystitis or a gallstone could be in a duct and once it moves the pain would stop. Anyway I know this is *very* longwinded, I apologize, but I wanted to give as much detail as possible. If there is a website with more information that would be helpful as well. Also another note: though I'm not opposed to natural things, on this I'm not interested in doing a flush at this point or in the near future. I've done research on that as well and that's controversial to me. Any other information, and/or suggestions and advice would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance. P.S. I do have a doctors appointment this coming monday to discuss my last ultrasound and tell him of my symptoms, if there's any advice for that please let me know. Oh yeah I was told through the phone after the results in April that I have a fatty liver as well, and if I experienced pain or pain I can't handle then I needed to get surgery to remove my gallbladder. I'd like to avois surgery as much as I can..I don't have insurance right now and just don't want it... Oh and forgot to mention I cut out all high fat foods from my diet, haven't had a hamburger since I got sick in April, anything fried I dont have or only have bite or two of rarely, and greasy stuff, cheese and ice cream etc I've cut out, occasionally i'll have a little cheese but hardly at all. I realize I should be cooking mostly for myself so I know how its prepared and how much fat goes into it, guess that's what I'm working on now... So that's all for now.. Any inquiries for more info which I highly doubt you'll need after this long winded question has been asked, please let me know.
