- Nothing to worry about. Removal of gall bladder is fine. Theres much worse medical conditions out there. Thats just my thoughts for you. In a month you'll be happy again and this will all come to past. Somebody else can answer your question ... Edit: type gall bladder surgery in your search engine, you'll find lots of useful information, or include "gall bladder surgery" in your Yahoo Answer Question (instead of should I be afraid of surgery) so those who have experience with gall bladder removal will more easily find your question and answer it for you.
- Don't worry about it too much. Gallbladder surgery is very common. They used to have to make a large incision, but nowadays, they can do the whole procedure with tiny instruments, cameras, and only a few tiny incisions. I haven't had my gallbladder out, but my dad did a few years ago. Like any surgery, there are some risks, and it's not comfortable, but he wasn't in too much pain. When I was a kid, I had surgery to repair a hernia (and later, to have my wisdom teeth extracted). It's not the same procedure, but it's roughly the same level of complexity. I remember the general anesthetic being the worst part, and even that wasn't so bad. You'll drift off, and later, you'll wake up groggy (with a pretty fuzzy memory). You'll have some abdominal pain, but they'll give you painkillers to help. It'll take a few days to get back to normal, but it's a good excuse to sit around and watch TV. I know that it's nerve wracking. Beforehand I was nervous too. Surgery is always a complex procedure, and you're putting a lot of trust in your doctor, especially since you'll be unconscious. Your surgeon is very highly trained, though, and a gallbladder removal is pretty simple as far as surgery goes. Just a last bit of advice: if you're really nervous, don't be afraid to tell the nurses. The ones that I have met were really good at soothing my fears (they're the ones that do most of the interaction with the patient, after all), and they might be able to give you something to dull the anxiety.
- I had surgery once. I was very comfortable. Just make sure that the follow the doctors orders before and after. One thing I did do was ask the anesthesiologist to check and make sure nothing was empty especially the one that errases or blocks memory. He was more than happy to. He said that it is good to ask as well.
- They will likely do it laproscopically.... Piece of cake. I walked out of the hospital the same day. walked!!!!
