I'm worried gallbladder surgery. Has anyone else had this done? I would like some advice................?
I will be going to a surgery consultation on Monday to have my gallbladder removed. While I am happy to be rid of this horrible "thing", I am more than nervous about the actual surgery and recovery because I am a full time colleger student and worry about how long I will be out of commission. Can anyone out there share with me their experiences with gallbladder surgery so that I can have some iea of what to expect? Thanks!

- I had my gall bladder removed laproscopically while I was doing my clinical rotation for medical technology school. The surgery itself was done as an outpatient - in by 7 am, out by 5 pm... I took about 1 week off after just to heal up - I had 5 small "key-holes" (longest was at my belly button and it was about 1 1/2 inches). The incisions healed pretty quickly, but were sore to the touch (loose fitting clothes is a must). Overall, I was just achey and sore (abdominal) for about a week. Oh, also stock up on juices and soft foods - you won't feel like eating too much! Hope it goes well! Take care!
