Is this corrective or Cosmetic surgery?

I'm a little curious about what determines whether a procedure is cosmetic or corrective. I was enquiring about breast augmentation and my insurance company said they would only cover it if it was a corrective procedure ie. I had a mastectomy, or there was a significant difference (2+cup sizes) in the size of each breast, or deformity etc. I breast fed 3 children and my breasts have suffered for it (those who have breast fed know what I mean) so isn't that considered a corrective procedure as you are correcting damage? What do you think?

  1. No, that would not be considered corrective. It would fall under cosmetic and you will have to pay the cost for the surgery. Also know that if for whatever reason your body rejects the implants and there are complications, you will have to pay for that surgery as well. As well as getting it redone every 5 to 10 years.
  2. Its definitely worth a try... go for it. then tell the rest of us how it went.... Ya I know exactly what you mean . it sure would be nice to have the "girls" back the way they were before the children came. On the other hand, I guess it was worth it if I think about it. we gave out babies the best start they could have and in the long run It is a small price to pay.
