I had cataract surgery with lens insertion 1 month ago.My vision is wonderful, but I am still having problems?
I am still very sensitive to sun glare and bright light glare. My eye aches most of the time which leads to headache. My doctor doesn't know what to do.I am tired of this.

- I can think of basically two possibilities here. 1) You are experiencing some extended low grade inflammation of the iris inside the eye. This is called iritis and can definitely cause photophobia (sensitivity to light). If it is very low grade sometimes an eye doctor can miss it on examination. If this is the case, the doctor could resolve the issue by placing you back on your anti inflammatory eye drops (the best one is called Pred Forte) four times a day for a couple of weeks. If this is the problem you will notice significant improvement relatively quickly. 2) The removal of your clouded lens has simply allowed dramatically more light into the eye than you have been accustomed to for a long time. The best way to deal with this is to wear a slight tint in your eyeglasses or maybe use a changeable tint to decrease the brilliance. Hope all goes well.
- Contact lenses and the lens you had inserted can cause photophobia, which means light sensitivity. There is no way to make it go away, you will need to carry sunglasses with you at all times. Sometimes even looking at a bright white piece of paper can make peoples eyes sting and burn. However, with time, this should improve. When I first got my contact lenses, I had to wear sunglasses for quite a while, within a year or less the photophobia went away and I am fine. Every once and awhile it might pop back up. As far as the eye ache, it may be that your eye is still healing, or you may have eye strain because you are getting used to looking out through the lens? Sometimes we change the position of our eye to look through contacts or glasses, and don't really realize it until the eye starts to hurt. If your doctor has checked, and doesn't know what is wrong, it is my hunch that you might want to try relaxation exercises and tips for eyestrain. You can google eyestrain for more info.
- The lens that nature gave us filters out a lot of the light that causes sensitivity. When this lens becomes cloudy, a cataract. it is taken out and a plastic lens is placed in the eye. This implanted lens has reflection problems in certain types of light. The good thing is you will neuroadapt to these problems with time. It is similar to when you chip your tooth and rub your tongue on the chip constantly. After awhile it does not bother you anymore.
