How can an eye doctor tell whether vision distortion is caused by cataracts or astigmatism?
Both cataracts and astigmatism can cause vision distortion, but the treatment is different for each of the two causes. How can the doctor tell for sure?

- That is two complete different things, and very easy to determine. A cataract is visible through the pupil , it is a physical change in the lens of the eye that can be seen. Astigmatism is a visual defect caused by light refracting in 2 different planes. Don't worry , they can't be confused with each other.
