I have to have foot surgery and would like to know if Intravenous sedation can used?
I have no allergies but don't want local anesthesia

- sure. any allergies?
- They can do a nerve/spinal block or a general anesthesia. Talk to your doctor.
- I had general anaesthetic when I had my toe nails off, much better not to know what is going on. Granted I am allergic to local anaesthetic. Talk to the consultant before you go for the op. Also remember any foot op is bloody and takes a time to heal. G
- ask your doctor about "twilight sleep" it is an iv sedation that will make you so you can't feel anything and won't remember a whole lot. the down side is you can hear everything going on
- i had shoulder op - had nerve block and full anaesthesia. go under you don't want to be awake. i had some treatment once - that said it wouldn't hurt never ever again - take the drugs and sleep. good luck
- not a problem. just speak to the anaesthetist. i have to say though local anaesthetic is much safer and you can go home fairly soon after.i am assuming this isnt major surgery your talking about
