Possible torn labrum?

Hi, i'm 17 and i play quarterback, i had an MRI done on my shoulder yesterday because of an on going problem. About six weeks ago i noticed a popping sound and weakness in my shoulder, this was accompanied slight pain. I have complete external rotation and use my shoulder as normal, for everything (so my rotator cuff is fine), except, the thing is when i go to throw a football, my shoulder feels like its catching and it gets tired fast. and sore, is it possible i have damaged my labrum, and if so with and otherwise healthy shoulder, what are the chance of a full recovery? is it just possible ive done something else?

  1. It's impossible to be absolutely sure but it sounds like it's just plain overworked. If you have internal swelling or inflammation of a shoulder muscle or ligament then it certainly could cause the symptoms you describe because it's pressing or interfering with other structures. Try icing it at least 3x a day and also take some Ibuprofen which will calm any internal inflammation, but your best bet is rest to allow it to heal and then before starting up again, see if you can find a soft brace for some extra support when you're playing.
