Septorhinoplasty recovery and post op depression?
I had septorhinoplasty 10 days ago with turbinate reduction. I diddnt have any tip work done and it was a closed rhinoplasty. They narrowed the dorsum and removed a slight hump also. When i had the splint removed the surgeon said there was quite alot of swelling. As i stand right now, i cant breathe through the side i had the initial problem with and my nose dosent look any different apart from the profile look. I have read up all about the recovery times and waiting to see the final results etc but i cant really see much swelling and i feel as if the surgery has done the exact opposite of help me. My nose looks the same and my breathing is worse. I feel alot of depression and a big let down and it dosent help when family members say it look same as before. Has anyone gone thru this? and do they have any advice? I am aware of what every website and my surgeon says about the 6-12 months, it just dosent seem to make sense at this point.

- I had rhinoplasty four years ago. Trust me, the swelling takes a long time to go down and for you to see the final look of your nose. This can be a good thing or a bad thing. On mine, it actually looked better before all the swelling went down, because now you can see a couple areas of bony protrusion that weren't noticeable when it was still slightly swollen. I'm pretty unhappy with it and have considered seeing someone else about fixing it, but on mine, unfortunately I feel too much was taken away and it's a lot harder to add back than it is to take more away. If this is not making much sense, that's because there are so many things wrong with it that it's hard for me to describe it. They took too much in one area and left too much in another. Anyway, I keep telling myself I ought to just stop concentrating on what I look like. I have regretted all the money spent on it too. I would recommend you give it another couple months at least before you make any judgments about it. Post-procedure depression is fairly common, I think.
