Best way to go about getting money (loan or credit) for a cosmetic surgery with a credit score of 750.?
I have a credit score of 750, and am looking to borrow about $6000.00. Where is the best place for me to look and also would it be best for me to look into a credit card or a loan. If a credit card would be a better option, would I look for a credit card tho blatantly state "high balance" or something like that before I apply.. or do I just apply and see what sort of balance I get? Also, do anyone know the legitimacy of prosper.com?

- Some cosmetic surgery places offer financing. I would ask the place you'd like to have the procedure done and see if they recommend anyone in specific. It would probably offer less interest than on a credit card.
- Go to carecredit.com. Its a health care credit card issued by GE. I used it for my eye surgery last November and got 0% for 18 months with a credit line of $6k or so. Then I used it again unexpectedly for some dental work about a month later and got 0% for 18 months on that as well. I use prosper.com (am a lender) but I don't think you would get a better deal on there. If anything use a balance transfer check from one of your credit cards. That would be anywhere from 0% to 3.99% fixed until you pay it off with a credit score of 750. One last option would be to check with the clinic where you are getting the surgery. Sometimes they offer very low rates on 12-24 month financing.
- It would be difficult for you to walk into a bank and get an unsecured loan for that amount unless you have a relationship with one already. (a community bank not a large bank like Chase or wells fargo). AMEX has no limit cards and with your credit score depending on income you might be able to get one but beware interest rates. If you have some sort of collateral to pledge it would save you a good amount of money on interest. The best advice I can give is to wait until you can almost pay cash for the whole surgery. It will be way cheaper in the long run... I have never heard of prosper.com
- The best way is to go through a credit union in your area. Call them or look up "credit union" on yellowbook.com in your area and find out the names of them and then google that to find their websites and do an online quote, or just call them to get a quote. They have lower interest rates thank banks. Online loan websites, wether scams or legit, are a rip off. The legit ones charge way too much interest compared to credit unions in your area. Times are tough now so dont be surprised if you get turned down even if you had perfect credit. It's the worst time in 20 years to get a loan. But it's worth a try. Credit Card is definately not the way to go, thats even higher interest rates. Your credit card at the most would have $2500 on it with your credit score. prosper is a legit site but they are known for aggressively going after borrowers in court quickly who are late or not able to finish payments. Im not trying to say that would be you, but they are backed by the same person who founded ebay and ebay has become known for acting very irrational with crazy changes all the time so I would not trust borrowing money from anybody like that who changes the rules halfway through the game. I think you should just find local credit unions and check them by qetting a quote for the loan you want. I got a loan like that for veneers which costed a little more than that a few years ago. I took it out as a personal loan, it's really your only choice.
- just depends on what your interest rate is and how long it would take you to pay this off. plastic surgery for personal gain in my opinion isn't something i would finance. Now if it is for a scar or an accident then yes. personally if my wife wanted plastic surgery we would save the money to pay it off in full unless it wasn't for personal gain.
- How long is it going ot take you to pay off $6K? Why don't you get another job or work overtime to save up the money? You could probably walk in with cash and pay less.
- you could try getting a personal loan from the bank or you could try prosper.com. it is a good site and your credit score is pretty good. my friend has a listing on prosper.com. you should check it out. people looking for a good investment should check it out too. http://www.prosper.com/lend/listing.aspx?listingID=370804&referrer=niecy4151&utm_source=referrer-niecy4151&utm_medium=referral-link&utm_content=link&utm_campaign=referrals-listing
