How can I get my insurance company (Empire Blue Cross - PPO) to pay for my nose job (plastic surgery)?

How can I get my insurance company (Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield - PPO) to pay for my nose job (rhinoplasty)? Is there any way I can get them to help pay for some of it at least? How? I broke my nose when I was a child, now I have a bump and sometimes trouble breathing. (Btw, anyone have any recommended doctors for the job?)

  1. I believe if you can get your doctor to say it is for medical purposes and not cosmetic they would pay for it. Good Luck!
  2. AHA! You sometimes have trouble breathing! You don't do anything. Once you find a dr, you have HIM contact the ins co and get it approved. This is something that borders on cosmetic surgery, so your dr would have to convince them that there is a medical necessitry for the surgery. Start by asking your family doctor. If you don't have one, call the local hospital, and ask to speak too a social worker.
  3. Get nose cancer. They'll pay for the rebuild. Otherwise, it's purely cosmetic surgery, and they won't cover it.
  4. I'm not an expert on this, but I would suggest you take a tour here, there are expert's tips over there.http://insurance.online-frees.info/insurance-free.htm
