Does your vision have to be bad at a certain degree to quality for LASIK?
My sister said my vision has to be worse than -6.00. Is that really true? Also how many people have vision worse than -4.00? I only know one person with vision as bad as mine. :3

- If you need glasses than you can get LASIK done!
- I don't think so. I read that people as low as -1 get Lasik. They must be mad. Take a look on the internet I'm sure some of the sites will say what the minimum is.
- There is no minimun on your perscription but there are minimums on the amount of tissue on your eye. If the amount of tissue you have is not enough they will not do the procedure no matter what the perscription. Also, read up on Lasik, there are a lot of people who are unhappy with the procedure, especially if they had decent vision before it. I just got PRK a few months ago and I have lost a lot of my visual acuity (detail vision) and I am not so happy about it.
- It can be up to you rather or not you're willing to spend alot of money. I'm a -5.00 in my left and -5.50 in my right. Here are some of the qualifications, but they don't specify the degree: Persons 18 years of age or older for the treatment of mild nearsightedness 21 years of age or older for persons with high degrees of nearsightedness or astigmatism Persons with healthy eyes (free from eye disease) Persons with stable refractions (eyeglass or contact lens prescriptions not changing more than 0.50 diopter for the year prior to treatment) Persons with realistic expectations regarding what this technology can offer them Persons informed of the potential risks and benefits of laser vision correction as compared to other treatments
- Anyone with vision correction can do the lasik depending on the eye condition.
- Dont worry about numbers.. as long as you Need Glasses or Contact lenses to get by.. LASIK can help... Get ur free eyesight check at www.golasik.blogspot.com
- Make sure you ask about the possibility of dry eyes with LASIK. The corneal nerves may be cut causing your eyes not to generate as much moisture as they did before. Do a search of "LASIK corneal nerves" on google and there are a number of sites warning people of this problem.
