Shoulder surgery . . . . . . . . .or not?????
So i am a huge sports player, i am really athletic, and now i am injured!!!!!!! I recently had an MRI that revealed a tear in my Labrum, excess fluid in my AC joint, and tendinopathy(whatever that is) in my rotater cuff. The dr. i am going to in redwood city, ca. . . . . Michael Dillingham, thinks i need surgery. I am a huge softball player. . . . and play a key role as a player and as the captain on my high school team. Should i have the surgery????? and if i do. . . . . how long would it take to make a recovery to where i can play to my full ability?????? All answers are appreciated!!!!!!!!!!

- Have they decided whether you will have arthroscopic surgery or invasive surgery yet? I had a torn rotator cuff and had mine repaired arthroscopicley and had my arm in a sling for 6 weeks before I was allowed to begin physical therapy. It took about 6 weeks of physical therapy to regain most of the use of the shoulder and then it took approximately another month to have full use and motion. It IS worth it, but it isn't easy to go through. If you aren't sure you need the surgery, by all means go and get a second opinion and don't be afraid to ask questions about the proceedure. Good luck, Tex
