How much does it cost to have excess skin removed after weight loss surgery?

I am extremely interested in having Lap-Band surgery, however, I do not have a lot of money and I dont want to go through with it if I can't follow it through to the end, which will result in me having to have my excess skin removed. Does anyone know the type of cost for something like this? And can it be done for cheaper/ free if the skin is donated for skin grafting on burn victims? Pleaseee help!

  1. With the lap band you lose the weight slower than gastric bypass and you have to exercise every day and while losing more slowly, you don't have as much excess skin. I have lost 40 pounds and I exercise every day, 3-4 days a week water aerobics and so far I don't have the excess skin (that is flabby) I heard that you can have excess skin remove for free if it is donated to burn victims and skin grafting but I don't know for sure. I heard that from my weight loss support group that I go thru. Each plastic surgeon is different and their fees are the same.
  2. after the baby, I go to this natural site for losing belly sag - excess skin- something called tummy tucker which helps firm the skin - I had a lot hanging after losing 25 lb or so and its all firm now. try that one- not cheap but cheaper than lap band
  3. I am still looking into surgery a gastric bypass and then having the excess skin removed. Recently on a very nice vacation in India I talked to some of the doctors there very nice. The gastric bypass was about 60% less than prices in the US so I am sure the Lap-Band is even less. Removing excess skin I was quoted roughly $2,500-5,000 depending on how much weight you lost. A more expensive option is a body lift but if I remember correctly that ran almost 15k. Contact these guys they are the ones I met with while there and were very helpful. www.medpathgroup.com
