When will this wicked activity end?

I am appalled to watch on UK television this morning, details of the religious scam in the US. I had no idea people in the States were this gullible. Christianity has a lot to answer for - this is so disgusting. How is it that some of you still believe in this rubbish? •Benny Hinn, a TV preacher who runs the World Healing Center Church in Grapevine, Texas. Hinn, who travels the globe conducting faith-healing revivals, lives in a seven-bathroom, eight-bedroom mansion overlooking the Pacific Ocean valued at $10 million. It is claimed as a parsonage. •The Rev. Creflo Dollar's World Changers Church International in College Park, Ga. Dollar drives a Rolls Royce and has large homes in Georgia and New York. He is asked to provide a list of all vehicles provided for himself, his wife, board members and ministry employees. •Paula and Randy White's Without Walls International Church in Tampa, Fla. In a letter to the ministry, Grassley asks the couple to provide a list of expense account items "including, but not limited to, clothing expenses and any cosmetic surgery for years 2004 to present." •Joyce Meyer Ministries in Fenton, Mo. Grassley asks Meyer and her husband David to explain expenditures like a $23,000 commode with a marble top, a $30,000 conference table, an $11,000 French clock and a $19,000 pair of vases for the ministry headquarters. •Kenneth Copeland Ministries in Newark, Texas. Copeland is asked to explain how cash offerings are handled during overseas crusades and to explain the use of a ministry jet for "layovers" in Maui, Fiji and Honolulu. •Long's New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Lithonia, Ga. Among other things, Long is asked to explain a church official's 2005 claim that Long no longer accepts a salary from the church but does take a "love offering." RANDER The WHOLE thing is disgusting. Stupid belief and evil ministers followed by incredibly stupid people and being allowed by a stupid country

  1. You missed Kent Hovind ("Dr" Dino) and thousands of other charlatans we have. Even though he is in Federal Prison for his religious scams, he still has followers. Watch my next question and see for yourself.
  2. Funny how the "wrong" people are always assassinated. The Kennedys; MLK; Ghandi; John Lennon...
  3. Yeah, it's pretty pathetic. What's sad is that it isn't a scam. People hand over all of their money to these guys because they ask for it, not because they trick people into it.
  4. America is the land of opportunity, not honesty or brilliance.
  5. Which part do you think is wicked: their belief in Christianity, their excessive monetary items, or the fact that they can write it all off due to the fact that they are operating as non-profit-organizations? Your post confuses me. In response to the poster’s note at the bottom of the question: I disagree with you. 1) I’m ok with belief when people are allowed to decide what they want to believe. 2)I’m ok with extravagance since it is their money, and they can do what they want with it. Although continued contributions to their funds does prove your point about ‘stupid people’. And I disagree that this is a stupid country since everybody is allowed to donate to the causes they care about, and the leaders of those causes can spend to the money any way they want. Try that in Morocco (old stomping grounds for me) or China and see how that country handles things. But so far, nothing you have listed is 'wicked' as far as I can tell. Shoot....it's not even evil. It's all just kind of silly.
  6. do you think you are telling us something we don't know about? Americans have been speaking out about this for some time now.
  7. It will only end when ignorant people gain knowledge and common sense.
  8. And I get questioned if I use ministry money for the cheapest cell phone. Some ministries have strange criteria for deciding what is a worthwhile expenditure.
  9. why can't pastors be rich?
  10. Its really sad. I hate how people like that call themselves messengers of Christianity. There are many good Christians but their good acts are over shadowed by these people
  11. "When will this wicked activity end?" When the "boss" comes back, of course!
  12. When the universe succumbs to it's eventual fate: heat death. Or until the sun expands and engulfs the Earth, utterly destroying it. Until then, we will have jackasses taking advantage of stupid people willing to believe anything.
  13. These people give GOD a bad name. Its not christianity that does this it is people who use GOD as a cash machine. GOD does not approve of these types of people. Even though they call them self christian they do not live like they are. 1Jn 2:4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
  14. When people design their own money through computer graphics on own currency for computers.
  15. All I can say is not all of us fall for it. So don't lump us all together.
  16. Each man and woman has been created equal and each individual will be judged by the word of God ( the Bible ).
  17. They, and their follows , would say God blessed them with this money. How God gets the credit when the money comes from poor peoples paychecks and old peoples social security checks is beyond my understanding.
  18. I don't know when it will ever end. It has been going on for centuries and people fall for it. I think they think they can buy their soul. I don't understand it either except for my theory is cult activity and/or mob mentality. We aren't all that stupid. You missed Joel Olsteen, he is raking in the bucks.
  19. Jim Bakker went to jail for all his crooked dealings, his little group was called the PTL Club(Praise the Lord). Jerry Falwell and Jimmy Swaggert were just as bad. And yet, they claimed to be doing the Lord's work. I'd like to see a mass of lightening strikes get these folks, but what P.T. Barnum said, still holds true, "There's a sucker born every minute." It truly amazes me, that even in this day and age, people are still falling for these Scam Artists. I attribute this to the old adage, "Old people trying to get into to heaven, by buying their way to the Pearly Gates." Not so very long ago, the Catholic Church was doing practically the same thing, by selling indulgences, so much money given to the church would allow you "x" amount of days you would have to spend in Purgatory or by saying certain prayers, you would get so many indulgences which would equal into so many days in Purgatory. I bought an old Catholic Missal from Goodwill a few weeks ago. The publication date on it was 1925, most of it, I found to be quite amusing. I even researched some of the data to be sure what I was reading was regarded as part of the Church's teachings. It seems that Purgatory is a huge waiting room before they make room for you in heaven and while you are waiting, you have to pay for all those minor "no-no's", you did while you were alive. I understand, as with all things, even the Christian churches need to see reality, sooner or later.
  20. So much for the old silly rule of taking a vow of poverty - or helping the poor and starving, or even putting back in any kind of meaningful way into their communities? Money Is the Root of All Evil (and Selfish Behaviour)
