Adult-Onset Hydrocephalus, shunt surgery, recovery time?
The Dr's think my 58 yr old mother has this. She 'had' a non cancerous brain tumor 9 years ago, and now her brain ventricles are swollen, so they suspect water on the brain. The Dr said she may need a shunt put in. What is the surgery like in an adult? Recovery time? She lives alone so I'd have to fly in to help and I'd like a ball park idea of how long I'd be there. Thanks.

- Shunt surgery is easy. I have had about 10 revisons in my 24 years of life. All take maybe an hour and a half to do and sometime the doctors allow you to go home the next day. If not, then the next. You are feeling better by the next week and you usually can do whatever you want after that week. I have never had a problem recovering from them. I have had close to 50 surgeries and these were my easiest.
