Can hormone therapy be an alternative to breast augmentation?
Can hormone therapy be an alternative to breast augmentation? I've heard that transgender men use the therapy to change their bodys-including breast growth.Would that work for women too?

- no or they would be doing it
- No, I'm afraid not. You're right, some (not many) transgender men, and ALL transsexual women, use hormone therapy to develop breast tissue; but this therapy won't have any significant effect on anyone with functioning ovaries. The hormones that are used (oestrogen and progestorone) are produced naturally in the ovaries, in the quantities required to grow breasts at puberty; adding more afterward will not cause any more growth. The reason this treatment works for transgender men, and transsexual women, is because these two groups of people have almost NO naturally occurring oestrogen in their bodies, and so they don't develop breast tissue at puberty (or, indeed, at any time), unless these hormones are added to the body artificially.
