- I wouldn't do that if I were you. Everybody I know that has had lyposuction has had problems as they aged. I heard that it was very painful. Just do it the healthy and the natural way! Eat less, and do cardio!
- I am a personal trainer and my advice is to you is to way all options. In my opinion nothing beats exercise and a sensible diet but you know what works for you. I do know 2 acquaintances that have had the stomach staple procedure and lost a great deal of weight. This has it's risks so please investigate before you make a final decision. And be sure to consult with your doctor as well. Make sure you have no risk factors that could bring about complications. Take a look at the link below, perhaps you may want to consult with a personal trainer in your area. Good luck... EAG
- There are many things that can go wrong, along with problems with your body down the road. I wouldn't recommend it at all. Just lose weight like everyone else does, EXERCISE!!!
- I agree with Jacqueline.. or if you are honestly considering it,. maybe let your friend do it first, see it first hand what she is going through and then decide if it is worth it to you. It sounds like she is getting it done regardless of your choice (which is how it should be, she needs to make those decisions for herself, so that is positive). Every person is different, so I can't tell you if it is for you or not, but what an opportunity to see it first hand and experience it with a close friend. How great too that you can be there to support her and then I assume she will do the same for you when she is fully recovered. Remember, misery loves company (and understand what I am suggesting is not knocking the idea or your friend) so it may sound like fun to recover together, but I bet it would be more effective if you took turns., She will probably need a friend who can help her and take care of her and then you two can switch and support each other that way. having two friends that are both miserable together during recovery is hard on the friendship and hard on the husbands!! Now they are taking care of two people. Also, suppose something doesn't go great with friend, by going second, you would know more questions to ask and what to watch for than just getting stories from people or a book. Not sure what you think about that, but in my humble opinion, you have a great opportunity to gain first hand knowledge and be extremely supportive to your friend... more than any person or book could tell you about the experience Lastly, and it sounds like you are, please get REFERENCES from your surgeon and actually TALK with people they have completed simmilar procedures on. It is much different experience from doctor to doctor.. so make sure you check board certification for THAT SURGEON.. and IN YOUR PROCEDURE not just the clinic itself being board certified. Did you know that someone can be board certified (for example in periodontics-- teeth) and then switch lines of work, work at a clinic for Plastic surgery, then when you call the board, they agree that the doctor is board certified, but they don't tell you it is in something else. It happens. I am sure you have heard of these types of stories, it seems like you are intelligent and doing your research, so good luck. and keep asking questions.
- i just went to a siminar for wieght loss surgery and i think befor you decide to do th surgery or even if you just want to get more info then you should really go to one. you have to a an ibm of over 35% to be concidered for the surgery and also for one of your questions about the loose skin the doctors all said everyone will have some and depending on your age it will go away with exercise so the younger you are the better.after all the info i learned about i would recommend the gasteric bypass surgery it has faster results then the lap band also it is more lasting results and in the long run it could be the cheaper result yes the lap band cost 17,000 and the bypass 27,000(well that varies) but in the lap band you have to go back to get it adjusted and that caosts around 200 each time and you have to go back alot also with that you have more doctor visits then the bypass surgery.the risks for the bypass surgery are less but they are more life theatening the lap band has more risks but aren't as bad.i met a guy that had the bypass surgery done 2 years ago and you couldn't tell he wieghted 450lbs and now he weights 210 and he said his life changed for the better. but like i said you should go to a siminar and decide which would be better also your doctor will help you decide. you have to be willing to eat nothing but protien drinks for 2 weeks befor and 2 weeks after if you can't do that then it isn't a good idea.
