oral surgery recovery time (till swelling goes down)?
i'm getting my wisdom teeth out on thursday and i was hoping that i wouldnt be a complete chipmunk 5 days later because i have to go back to school. really i dont have to but i'm a junior in highschool and i need classes. how long did it take your swelling to go down considerably? will i have to take antibiotics or is that just for infection (i have bad reactions to antibiotics) what will make the swelling go down faster, because i have a complex and it's really hard to go anywhere looking bad, it makes me have panic attacks

- There should not be any swelling that is noticeable. If there is then you need to call the Dr right away. Antibiotics are only given if there is infection or a chance of infection. If you cannot take certain antibiotics talk to the Dr and let them know a head of time. also you should be ready to go back to school with very little pain. You can do salt water rinses to speed the healing time. And do not drink out of a straw for a few days.
- i wish u the best.. but u have to know that not every wisdom extraction causes swelling.. surgical or not surgical.. any way, ur dentist will decide if u need antibiotics or not.. that depends on the surgery and many things... anyway, if swelling happened, and that is expected, it well last for 2 days then starting down in 2 days.. so totally 4 days..." 2 up then 2 down" your dentist well give u the needed antibiotics and pain killers and u'll be happy.. i'm sure... don't worry and just be happy because u well get rid of that wisdom
- if done by a good & experianced dentist/oral surgeon, you will not have swelling at all. You need to take antibiotics & pain killers & may be few shots of seriods if you get swelling.
