Having problems loosing weight & am in desperate need of sincere advice.?

History: Age 18 had knee surgery (years recovery time till full movement). 3 miscarriages over several years. (gained approx. 20 pounds each) Got up to 245 pounds with full term pregnancy because I was high risk so I was bedridden. Delivered by C-section. After delivery lost 20 pounds but gained it back because I got on birth control. Got off & have lost only 25 pounds in a years time. Meals: Slim fast with skin milk for breakfast & lunch. Sensible dinner w/o starches. Don't drink pop, only water. No candy. Exercise on Elliptical trainer 5 to 6 days a week hour each with varying intensity. 150 crunches daily. Lift light weights every other day. Still have extreme pain in knee, flat feet & scoliosis so can't do squats, running or walking for long periods of time. Been to doctor & found no medical problems (thyroid, hormones, etc.) Don't have money for gym membership, weight watchers, etc. Any advice of what I could be doing wrong or could also do would be appreciated.

  1. sounds like your metabolism is hurting.. focus on things to speed up your metabolism. Eat smaller portions more frequenty. snack on fruit and veggies. i think your body may think you are starving. how many calories is that your eatin- doesnt seem like much. Research how to rev your metabolism. As far as the elliptical try intervals. Do a high level as fast as you can for a minute.. then do two minutes at moderate pace. something along those lines. good luck
  2. I know what its like when your trying to lose weight and your doing everything and anything and its just not happening. Stick with it. I'm having to get my head in gear again because I got in a stand still and stopped my diet and gained weight! Remember to eat three meals a day. I now eat a banana for breakfast. I have a ready-made pork dinner for dinner time (its only 240 cal!) with a yoghurt to follow. A cottage cheese toastie for tea with an apple. I eat this everyday with a little variation but I then know exactly the calorie content. Don't eat after 6pm. Set yourself times when your going to eat and eat then so your body sets itself up to eat then. I also go on a 30min run every night and do around 500 sit ups and leg exercises a day. I've lost 18lbs in two months. From the sound of your question you've had a very harsh time and I'm very sorry to hear it. It's always hard to find the strength to do something like losing weight with bad thoughts. Just think its time to make a new start and get yourself in a routine of what your eating, make sure you do plenty of exercise and you'll be shedding the lbs!
  3. First of all, you need to know of sugar can cause havoc with your metabolism and slim fast has sugar, and maybe not lots but still a pretty high amount. On a daily basis, sugar is not what will help you loose. Secondly, and perhaps I should have mentioned this first, loosing weight is a big many, many, people assume is the correct answer to your problem. It is not totally weight that you want to do, it is that you need to replace the fat and or other body matter with something more in the line of lean muscle. Getting on the scale is not the only way you need to measure yourself. The body has water weight, which it does need some of it, but most often we go up and down because we just pay attention to the scale. Get a measuring tape and measure the inches as well as the pounds. A 125 pound person with lean muscle is a smaller well shaped person than a 125 pound high percentage of fat person who is out of shape. Drink water it flushes impurities out of your body, exercise. It is better to exercise with less stess on your body, which you are doing by using the machine , try a variety of exercising,. walking sports etc. choose what you like or would possible want to alternate the machine with, Rest is important, it is stressed so much now a days. There is evidence that you can gain weight from lack of sleep.
