open heart surgery??

Omg i'm bawling my eyes out!!! My grampie went to the hospital for his annual check up and they (my nanny and grampie) found out that he has a clogged artery and they have to do surgery to get rid of it cause if they leave it it will completly clog up and he'll have a heart attack or something because not enough blood is getting to his heart or something. Anyways they want to do open heart surgery but they say that they of course have to put him on the thing that will keep him breathing during the surgery so hopefully he doesn't die during it!! However thye also say that because his lungs are in such bad condition (he's never smoked he's just always had screwy lungs) that when they take him of the breathing thing his lungs may not re-act correctly and he might die!! I'm so scared!! I'm praying and stuff and doing a lot of crying but what do you think the percent would be of him coming through the surgery?? He's 78 if that helps!

  1. Say prayers for his recovery. If its his time, its his time. Crying won't help, and may frighten him or those around you. Be calm and prayerful. If you can be calm, it will give strength to those around you.
  2. i don't want u to feel discouraged because it is good for him to have the surgey. . . my grandfather had to have the surgery for his cloged arteries this summer. . . during the surgery he had a stroke and they were unable to unclog his arteries. . . they tried again and he had a massive stroke. . . now he is somewat brain dead and can not talk. . . but hopefully your gampie will do better. . . good luck!!!
  3. I had my open heart action 12SE03. I'm still here!! I was 43 at the time. I have learned that ppl who are a bit older...do much better with the procedure. If he wasn't in good enough shape to have the surgery...they would not do it. I believe you will have him around for a good long time. Pray instead of worry...it will be OK. Please and Thanx, Bogie
