Weight loss surgery?
I would like to get the gastric by pass surgery or lap band- I have insurance.. does anyone know how i should begin the proccess? Should i find a doctor that does the procedure then he gets me qualified through insurance or do i start with my primary doctor? I live in NY

- That depends on the the type of insurance you have. If you have an HMO then your Primary Doctor will have to refer you to a specialist then you go from there. The doctors office should be able to walk you threw the process from there.
- You should start with your primary doctor first. You tell your primary that you are interested in finding out more and would like him to request you a good doctor in your area for the procedure and then go from there. Most insurnaces want you to start with your primary doctor.
