How are cup sizes/breast sizes determined by plastic surgeons?

For a while I've been trying to figure out how bust sizes are determined, but I think I've been looking in the wrong places. I've decided to take my quest to plastic surgeons, because they work in this field. Specifically those who do breast augmentation. How do breast augmentation surgeons (or anyone involved with breat augmentation) determine the cup sizes? If someone came in asking for a 36C cup augmentation, how would you know what it looked like? If someone came in with a picture of how they want them to look, would you be able to name it? EDIT: Romantic Angel, what I'm trying to figure out is, how do surgeons determine what the bra size is? Sure they can tell what a person's current bra size is, but if a person walks in with a 30AA and wants to be upgraded to a 36C, how do they know how big to make them? If someone comes in with a picture of how big they want their breasts to be, can they name what the size is? What is true the scale for breast augmentation? EDIT: Renee gives a good example, but I guess what I'm asking is, what is the exact difference between one size and the other? If a surgeon has both C and D sized implants, what is the exact measured difference between them? I know one is bigger than the other, I just want to know how thye're measured. How are you able to name one size of breast/implant? EDIT: AAnonymous Baby, are you saying that surgeons don't know the measured difference between breast sizes?

  1. From watching those E! channel that have dr beverly hills..??yeah from watching that E! channel....i think the bust sizes are determined by bra size....they already have silicon in all the sizes that would fit right according to the bra size....
  2. For Augmentation (implants) the size is detemined by the size of the implants. They come in a huge variety of sizes, shapes and fillings. For example my employer was a 30AA and she had implants to be a 30 C cup, she therefore had C sized implants of the appropriate shape and filling etc. Plastic Surgeons generally don't guarantee the exact size that you will end up being, as it can always change between clients. I had a Breast Reduction recently and wanted ot be reduced to about a 34D cup. My surgeon used his feel and his vision to determine the right size during the procedure and I ended up a 34DD which is almost perfectly accurate to what I had asked for.
  3. The determination should be of your own NOT the surgeons. The surgeon may recommend, but that's what they do.Find sites with before and after pic of surgeries that are similar to to your weight, bust size etc.Take your time!!!!!Besides a professional office should have one size of each implant with various bra sizes so you can try on,and determine yourself.Takes approx. 6 month for implant to fall into place and look normal.
