What should I do about my flat feet?
I'm 13, and I have flat feet(on both, but more on my left). My feet hurt sooooooooooooooooooo bad when I walk or run!!!!!! I've been doing some reading on this and I seem to have rigid flat feet, by what people say. I don't want to have surgery, but it hurts sooooooooooooo bad!!!!!!!! I heard that insoles don't always help w/ flat feet. Is there any way I can tell if I have rigid flat feet w/out going to a doctor(I ask my regular doctor and he confirmed my flat feet, but then my feet didn't hurt that bad). As I am getting older, my feet hurt more nad more. I love to run and feet hurt so much that I don't run that much anymore.Because my feet hurt so much, I am starting to run on my toes and now my calfs hurt horribly! I read that sometimes, in serious cases, that flat feet can also cause knee, hip, back, and calf problems. I'm looking for some general info and advice on what I should do about my flat feet, please help!! Thank you! I tried buying shoes w/ high arches, but that didn't work. I haven't tried insoles yet though. Also, I would like to know how to tell the difference between a serious case of flat footedness(does that make sense..lol) and a regular case. Thanks again! I put something flat against my feet when sitting and not putting any weight on that foot, I don't seem to have very much of an arch. Thanks again!

- base on my experience, you should wear shoes that's pointed. never wear flat shoes because that would emphasize your being flat footed go to your shoe store in asks them what is the best shoe for your flat feet in yes if you dont catch it later on in life you will have aot of problems with your back in legs my children have the same problem you did then with got are children shoes for there feet now they dont trip any more over there feet in they both run better now without any problem in run track awhole lot better to
- Flat feet or pes planus can be due to a number of different things ranging from anatomical abnormalaties to a neuromuscualar disorder. I highly recommend that you see a foot doctor whom will evaluate your flat feet and give you some options. Surgery is a last step treatment for most cases of flat feet and there are conservative options available, such as orthotics. Orthotics (foot inserts/insoles) will help control your foot mechanics and relieve the discomforts you are currently experiencing. Dont buy the foot inserts you see at the pharmacy. These are not effective at all. Your foot will need to be evaluated and a custom made orthotic will have to be made specifically to meet your needs. The other problems (knee, hips, back, et...,) may develop because the biomechanics of your gait (the way you walk) changes to compensate for the pain you are experiencing. Simply put, because you start to walk funny due to the pain of flat feet, you are putting different types of stress on your hips, back, knees, et..., which eventually lead to pain in those areas also.
- get a foot massage

- I was born with no arches in either feet, and was told to get arch supports for all of my shoes. I have a lot of shoes, and they cost like 120.00. You have to get a pair for each pair of shoes. They are specially made I guess. Although, I found the shoes called born help me. I haven't been wearing good supported shoes lataly, and can't walk on my right foot right now. I get to involved with life to remember cause the pain isn't there. Now, I remember tonight. I think the pain comes from always walking on the front, and back. People with flat feet have no middle to support, So it is like a crushing effect. With out some good support the pain occurs. Sometimes we get to busy to remember about our feet, and wear bad shoes. After this pain I am going through right now, I will remember tomorrow forsure. At times you think your going crippled, and it is scary. I can't answer your question. All I know, it is pain some one with out it doesnt know about. Tends to break down the nerves, and cause anxiety disorder to. Just make sure the middle of your shoe has enough support to go with your back, and front. I will remember tomorrow cause the pain is crippling.
- My sister has flat feet and the same day she saw a doc about it, she was fitted with arches for her shoes. She was told to never walk without them...no barefoot. She runs track, and plays basketball for her school, so they work extremely well. She says the only time they irritate her is when she doesn't tie her shoes properly when in a hurry, then the inserts move around and she is in excruciating pain. When she saw the doc, he told her that he needed her to be fitted right away, because problems can occur otherwise... For this reason, I find it hard to believe you saw a doc and all he did is verify your flat feet. This is a very serious condition for those who have it. If you haven't truly told your doc about it, you need to now. He will refer you to a specialist that day and you will be fitted for the inserts. Good Luck.
