What causes to have cataract??? I just had a cataract surgery a week ago. One eye at a time. Next surgery will be my left eye. My friend told me that I'm still to young to have cataract. I don't consider young myself when I hit 50 years old. I don't know if staring to long on the computer screen can cause cataract.
What is the time between the noticable start of a cataract and blindness caused by trauma or ageing? I can only see out of one eye and since a recent eye trauma to my good eye have a cataract forming.I am reluctant to undertake a cataract operation now due to the increased. risk of retinal detachment arising therefrom. My only option seems to allow the cataract to keep forming and when my vision becomes really bad then to have the operation on the basis I won't have much to loose if it results in a retinal detachment.I am 55 years of age and have just given up my job as an accountant due to problems with double vision. The general answer is that cataracts take years to form but I think this is more age related. Has anyone experienced a cataract forming and over what period. I would just like to get an idea whether I have 6 months or 10 years or whatever. Maybe there isn't an answer
Can cataract cause tiredness? I have a cataract in my right eye due to my other eye problem (Retinitis Pigmentosa) and i'm due to have the op to have it removed in March so it's in it's late stages now. It's very sensitive to light and very blurry, I was just wondering if anyone knows if it can cause tiredness. Will LASIK cause cataract, glaucoma and/or other diseases? Will IntraLase Custom Lasik cause cataract, glaucoma and/or other diseases? >>Overall, it is considered extremly rare for LASIK to result in cataract, glaucoma and/or other diseases. How LASIK cause them? Any scienctific evidence?
What causes foggy vision in sunlight? Cataracts? I'm diabetic, and I've experienced some diabetic problems. My immediate concern is fogginess in my vision when I'm in sunlight ... even indirect sunlight. It only happens during sunlight. My night vision is OK as is my vision in artificial light. I've been seeing an opthalmologist in another city for years, and he's been watching some slowly developing cataracts, as well as a tiny bit of bleeding in the back of the eye, and possibly some swelling of the retina. He told me a year ago that he could remove my cataracts anytime, but that the other problems just need annual checkups. However, I've moved to another city, and this week I went to a new ophthalmologist. He said I do not have cataracts and that my foggy vision is due to poor diabetes control. Who's right? I will take better care of my diabetes, but I trust my original eye doctor. Does foggy vision in sunlight sound like cataracts? I've had out-of-focus vision from diabetes before, but I think this is cataracts. Help!
Can Lasik surgery cause cataracts or astigmatism? I had lasik about 2 years ago. It was great for about 6 weeks then starting degressing. I told the doctor and he kept saying wait....now he says I can't get the lasik redone, I have the start of a cataract and asigmatisim. Never had either of those before. Can lasik cause those?
is this statement correct?cataract......................? catarct can be caused as calcium carbonate comes out from the bone and forms an opaque membrane. i know cataract is caused due to clumping of proteins over the eye lens.but coming out of calcium carbonate?is this possible and if not why?
Will surgery to repair a detached retina cause cataracts to form immediately after the surgery? had eye surgery 3 weeks ago to repair a detached retina and was told the was a possibility that cataracts might occur sometime in the future. I went in for 2 checkups during the 3 week period and was told everything looked fine. Now today 22 days after the surgery, I still cannot see anything at all out of the repaired eye and was told I need cataract surgery ASAP, that the retina surgery caused the cataracts to form almost immediately. The surgeon is losing credibility, as I went from doing very well to needing a second almost immediate surgery in the space of two weeks. Can anyone tell me if this is an expected outcome of surgery for a detached retina. Thanx
What causes canine blindness? I have 2 dogs that are suddenly developing cataracts (foggy eyes) and blood/urine tests are normal. Any ideas? Any relation of canine cataracts to insecticide?
My rat is forming a cataract? He's still very young.? I have a rat who appears to be getting a cataract in one of his eyes. He's still very young so could there be some underlying cause that we'd need to get treated? I know the cataract itself won't be too bad for him (he's a red-eyed rat) but if something else could be wrong, I'd like to fix it. Our other rat just had an abscess removed a week ago if that is relevant at all. They were separated for the past week and were very sad without each other.
Should straight people who are ugly be legally allowed to breed? In today's politically correct society each of us strive to co-habitate with creatures who are different than us, despite suffering ill side-effects or inconveniences. Super ugly straight people are what I consider to be "environmental pollutionists". When I see them walking in a park for example I am blinded by "ugly aura" and this invasion of my "beauty rights" is violated. I have the right to live in a beautiful world without suffering cataract lesions caused by straight fuglies and thus I do believe it's time to enact new laws which prohibit super ugly straight people to hump each other and create a new generation of the uglies. What is your opinion? Two wrongs don't make a right.....
I think I may have a cataract...on the verge of tears again...? I'm only fifteen and i probably have a cataract because there is a white cloudy figure over my right pupil and my right eye vision is blurry. i don't want to get surgery because i don't have insurance and can't afford it and i'm a little scared to get surgery on my eyeball. im sooooo scared right now. i just spent an hour crying because i will probably go blind. i did some research on it cataracts and its supposed to be the #1 cause of blindness worldwide. im so scared i will go blind. i am only 15, why is this happening to me? i'd rather be dead than blind. im soo scareddddd. i am on the verge of another panic attack. will i go blind soon or will that happen alot later on??? because my family can't afford a $3000-5000 surgery right now but i'm hoping that surgery won't be too late in a few years because i will need time to save up the money. im so scared. somebody please help me beforei have a heart attack.
Are pink tinted sunglasses harmful to the eyes? I am aware that sunglasses with blue and purple tints are supposedly harmful to eyes because they are energetically in the higher end of the visible light spectrum and some scientific reports say that they do not prevent, and might even cause cataracts in the eye. Does powder pink count as lower valued shade of purple or is it a variation of red (way down there near the infrared end of the spectrum)?
Toddler with cataract? Has anyone ever heard of a toddler with a cataract, my husband and I took my 1 yr old son to the eye doc today because his ped doc was concerned about a lazy eye. The eye doc says he has a cataract in his left eye, causing him to use his right eye to see, because he cant see out of the left eye. He is refering us to a perdiatric eye doctor to have the cataract removed, has anyone ever heard of this.
irritation after cataract surgery - and treatment? My grandpa just had cataract surgery two weeks ago in one eye and he complains of a constant "rubbing, itching" discomfort which hasn't gone away. I figure this is normal but since he worrys a lot I'd like to give him an educated answer to provide some relief. What causes this sensation? How long can this last? Are there any topical treatments which may help his discomfort? Thanks.
complications due to cataract surgery? well my mom had cataract surgery just about a week or two ago and she has gone for a check up and has discovered that she has high pressure in the eye. What may be causing this and what happens if the eye drops don't make it better?
Who has had cataract surgery? Have you noticed that when you try to focus on something your lens shakes a bit causing the image to shake? This only happens when I try to focus on something close up like reading. The image will just shake a bit. I think it is because the lens has not yet stuck my eye perfectly yet so I'm not sure. I had the surgery 2 months ago.
How can I correct my eyesight? I have a cataract behind my left eye which causes it to be very week to sunlight almost as if i had a lazy eye and also the left eye tilts to the center a little bit you can only notice it from far away my right eye has perfect vision. is there any surgery that can fix this? will lasik correct this? HELP!!??
why is styrofoam still used as cups or food packaging materials? styrofoam, a commercial name for EPS (expanded polysterene ) is made of Benzene, a cancer causing substance. But why is it still widely used? Although recyclable, it is not much sought commercially because of its lightness,98% air, thus a major pollutant. However, the production of this is what matters too, the "air bubbles" is in fact processed by using CFC's(chlorofluorocarbons) before which is a major destroyer of the ozone layer, now ALLEGEDLY replaced by HCFC's (hydrocholorofluorocarbons) 95 % less destructive, but still an ozone layer destroyer. Further, a damaged ozone layer can not filter the harmful UV (ultraviolet) rays from the sun, thus causing skin cancers, blindness by cataract and diminishing yields of UV damaged crops and other bio-diversity life and food sources. What should we do? Evil triumped only b/c of the inaction of the good.
Eczema over my 2 year old's eye! Yes we have seen a doctor & she was given Elidel? My daughter has eczema over her eye. It began when she was away from me with her dad for his summer visitation last month. We have been perscribed Elidel. Does anyone use this themselves or for their children? Do you know of any side effects personally? I have read alot on the internet. Her eye looks really bad. It doesn't help that it just started getting 100 degrees here (DFW area, TX) I am putting the Elidel on her eye as directed. She can't use a steroid cream because they have been known to cause cataracts and even blindness when used directly over the eye. So I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with this... My poor baby looks so sad. =(
is cataract surgery dangerous? can u tell me everything about a cataract i know someone who has a very small one but the doctors arent removing it yet cause they said its too small will it grow is that bad
Cataract surgery? My father aged 73 years is scheduled to be operated for cataract next week end. Apart from what I have learnt from the doctor, I wish to know some more details that I am not aware that I should ask. Medical history of the patient follows. He had cancer and his right kidney has been removed in 1990 and underwent radiotherapy post surgery. Periodic visit and diagnostics indicate that there is no problem in the kidney or abdominal area. He is having problem with his vision particularly while climbing stairs or walking on uneven terrain. Repeated visits to the eye specialists indicated that a cataract had been formed but it is not significant enough to warrant a surgery. The cause of the defective vision could not be diagnosed till yesterday where a scan revealed a layer on the left eye and a small bulge on the cornea in the centre of the eye blocking most of the vision. Effectively, he was using only his right eye so far without being aware of it. The doctor has adviced to two surgeries. First id the cataract and followed by surgery of the retina to remove the layer. This second surgery is classified as major by the doctor and we have no significant technical information on this aspect except the images shown on the monitor attached to the equipment. My question is vague as I do not know what has to be asked but I will be grateful to all of you who can give some authentic advice with regard to what are the precautions to be taken and what exactly is the layer and the bulge that is causing the obstruction to his vision. Thanks in advance to all those who will be sending a reply.
Can falling down very hard on the face (near eyes) cause cataracts to form in the eye? (I'm 61).? I fell very hard from a kitchen chair and hit my face on a carpeted floor that has cement beneath it. Three weeks later my eyelid that hit against a cabinet before I hit the floor is still sore and I see some spots in my eye. Can a fall like this cause cataracts to form? I fell off a kitchen chair and landed very hard on a carpeted floor that has cement beneath it. I hit a cabinet door latch on the way down. The result was a blackened left eye for several days and a lacerated left eyelid. This was 3 weeks ago and I still see some spots in my left eye. Could these be cataracts from the fall? The eye itself was not red or discolored; it just felt odd from the pressure of hitting it. I'm rather worried about it, now.
Should I have my poodle put to sleep? I have a poodle who will be 17 years old July 13th. She sleeps all day and then moans all night. She can eat and drink but pees and messes all over the floor to the extent that we had to put her in a cage. We really don't have room in our current home for this but we couldn't let her ruin the carpets in the house. We have recently purchased another home and will be moving there in July. My husband said she can't stay in the house....only in the yard. He has been very patient with her thus far but she is causing stress for us all. Plus we have two children...a 4 year old and a 9 month old. I really love my dog and cry every time I think of putting her to sleep. She is too old to start staying outside...we are from the south and it gets too hot in the summer. I think she doesn't know who I am sometimes but does at others. She is deaf and had cataracts on both eyes but she still gets around great. Any suggestions?
Cataract surgery? I have to get this surgery, i have been to many different specialist and they all say that my optic lense is not shaped right because the connective tissue that hold it in place has torn so in effect caused them to lose their correct shape. So now they say this complicates the surgery because they aren't sure if they have enough connective tissue for the optical lense implants. Has anyone else had this issue and know of what would be the alternative if the connective tissue doesnt hold the implant in place?
My husband just had Cataract & Glaucoma surgery? & yesterday he experienced some problems..Today we went to the Dr. & the Dr. said there is some blood in his eye (thats whats causing him to have blurry vision & irritation) I kept telling my husband NOT to rub his eye or lift & bend...his answer was: "Old habits are hard to break!" He is sooo stubborn & says I'm a NAG! How can I get him to understand that this is serious & I am NOT a NAG! I just care! sob :'-( I didnt call him a name: HE called ME a NAG! & the DR. told him MANY times NOT to rub his eyes or lift & bend...he just wont listen!
Steroid meds and cataracts? I have severe atopic dermatitis (eczema) and have been prescribed Prednisone on and off for several years. Two years ago, my family doctor put me on Prednisone for more than a month straight subsequent to an allergy attack on my skin. Ever since then my eyesight has been getting worse. I heard Prednisone and other steroid meds can cause cataracts. Is this true?
Steriods and hair loss? I have been on steriod drops for many years for eye infections. These are doctor prescribed. The steriod drops caused cataract in one of my eyes, and I just had surgery. My question is, my hair used to be very, very long and thick. Due to getting older and other aspects, I have lossed several inches off my hair in the last couple years. The more I read, the more I find out. Can the steriod drops cause hair loss? A lot of the medications I have been on have caused concern as well. However, I used to be very small, and now can't get my weight down. I'm a mid-sized woman now who used to be small. Can the drops cause this many problems or is this just age and possibly hormones?
What can I use to make my eyelashes thicker/longer/stronger? My old mascara really dried out my lashes so that many of them fell out, and the remaining ones are thin, short, and sparse. What lash primers/conditioners/fortifiers can I use to make them healthy, thick, long, and strong? Please do not suggest Vaseline. It causes cataracts and blurs your vision. I also don't mean any "at home" treatments such as oils. I'm looking for more of a high-end product that you could buy at a department store, Ulta, or Sephora. Something like that. Thanks!!

Does anyone know if you can do anything about taking a medication that caused me serious side effects? I have been using flonase nasal spray on & off for the last 8 yrs. I started because I was getting frequent sinus infectons. It was a godsend at first! I stopped for a while because it was too unaffordable, but then I was getting sinus infections again so I went back. In the past yr I have been getting rashes and other side effects including blurry vision. My eye doctor also told me I was developing cataracts and am quite young for this. I found out flonase can cause cataracts among some other of the side effects I was getting. I never knew this! Is thee anything I can do, get my money back for all the money I have wasted on it only for it cause problems! Please help I am poor and desperate!

Eye's optical problem: perhaps asphericity? I am nearsighted but corrected, have hardly any accommodation capability, and have been told I have incipient cataracts. The optometrist says my retinas are fine. Over the past couple of years I have noticed a strange phenomenon: my corrected vision is pretty good at night and at light levels comparable to the optometrist's eye chart, but in bright light it gets blurry. I don't think it's because of cataracts (I don't notice any fogging) but it could be due to an asphericity of the lens or of the eyeball surface, which could cause the average focal length to change as the iris opening changes between wide and narrow. So my question is, would a lens replacement (the recommended remedy for the cataracts) fix the focus problem, or is eyeball surface asphericity a possible cause? Do cataracts change the lens shape? Are there other possible causes given that the retinas are healthy? If you go to the trouble of answering this question, I'd appreciate your also bookmarking it (e.g., watch-list it) and revisiting it in case I have a followup question. For instance, I would want to know the reasoning behind an answer I don't fully understand. Thank-you.
Toddler and cataracts.? Has anyone ever heard of a toddler having a cataract. My husband and I took my 1 yr old son to the eye doctor today because his peditrician thought that he had a lazy eye. The eye doctor said that he has a cataract in his left eye causing him to use his right eye to see with (which is making his left eye lazy), he refered us to a pediatric eye doctor to have the cataract removed, has anyone ever heard of this..??????
Is This Considered Medical Malpractice? Back in 2002 my husband got hit in the eye and had to go to the emergency room to get sewn up. What the doctor did not do is refer him to a eye specialist to make sure the eye was ok. That same year my husband went to the doctor because he was seeing flashes, but the doctor just blew him off and said it was old age. 4 years later my husband started seeing distorted images he then went back to the doctor and she then refered him to a retina specialist becasue he had a detached retina. That doctor said everyhting was going to be ok but in reality it has been a nightmare. After that first surgury he had received another detached retina in a diferent place because of the surgury. He then was diagnosed with glaucoma and cataracts. The pressure from Glaucoma caused a petrution in the white part of the eye which consistently irritates him. He is always in pain and can not work and a lot of life activitys has come to a stop. All the while the doctors seem to not know what to do. Excuses Excuse
Irreducible Complexity-The whole "jackpot or nothing" fallacy? I saw someone answer a question stating that evolution is wrong based on "IC". Why is it that (some) of you christians try to sound smart and assume that biological adaptation is a question of jackpot or nothing? Either the eye sees it or it doesnt. Darwin devoted an entire chapter of the origin of specis to "Difficulties on the theory of descent with modification" Maybe you should pick up a book and read that. When you hear one side of the argument perhaps you should listen to the other side before you just make a judgement. Perhaps that;s too much to ask. I'll just try to sum it up for you. A functioning unit is said to be irreducibly complex if the removal of one of its parts causes the whole to cease functioning. Any intelligent person can immediatley see the fallacy in this. A cataract patien with the lens of her eye surgically removed can't see clear images w/out glasses, but can see enough not to bump into a tree.... to be continued We have seen that eyes are not irreducibly complex. The fact that people have been dead wrong over this should be a lesson. Don't just declare things to be irreducibly complex; the chances are you havent looked carefully at the details, or thought carefully enough about them. If irreducible complexity could be properly demonstrated, it would wreck darwin's theory. (he even said that) but darwin never found a case, or anyone since his time, despite desperate strenous efforts. Nothing has stood up to analysis. Even if IC was ever found, dont you think that it would wreck YOUR theory of ID? Technically if that's what your sitting on then it already has. However little we know about God, the one thing we do know is that he would have to be very very complex and irreducibly so Oh and dont bother bringing up Behe's bacterial flagellar motor to be IC....he offered no argument in favor of his assertion. The key to proving IC is to prove that none of the parts could be useful on its own. And they all need to be in its particular place before they do any good. this has been proven wrong as a whole. Thanks. and special thanks to richard dawkins to his numerous amounts of books that allow me to defeat and belittle these ridiculous arguments
polarised sunglasses for driving? ive had my cataract taken out but i still get bad glare/starbursting and i was told by the doctor to try out some transition glasses, ive had those kind of glasses before, problem is they don't darken fully when worn in cars as windscreens filter out most of the uv light which causes the lenses to darken ive been reading about polarised sunglasses and it sounds they could work whats your opinum, and would it be ok to drive with them at night? ive had anti-glare glasses which worked but not that much ive had a cataract opp so its a bit different from the people who have problems with night driving looking at the specsavers website they have polarising lenses,it shows it as a clear lense,so it could be warn at night unless thats just for show, and its not a clear lense? http://www.specsavers.co.uk/cgi-bin/strudwick.sh/s?langid=1&pfmt=1&siteid=39&pname=options/polarising.htmlhttp://www.specsavers.co.uk/cgi-bin/strudwick.sh/s?langid=1&pfmt=1&siteid=39&pname=options/polarising.html sorry about the link,it got messed up here we go http://www.specsavers.co.uk/cgi-bin/strudwick.sh/s?langid=1&pfmt=1&siteid=39&pname=options/polarising.html
What could cause my eye pain? My eye hurts, as if it was bruised. We are in between health insurance for 2 weeks, but I don't want to wait if this is serious. I had cataract surgery 3 years ago and my vision's been terrific. It's still ok, but my eye hurts, especially when I close it. I don't have my wisdom teeth. But thanks for trying.

For more information, visit Q&A: Dinosaurs Dinosaurs and the Bible by Ken Ham An aura of mystery surrounds the dinosaurs. Where did they come from? Did they evolve? Did they really live millions of years ago? What happened to them? Are there any living today? Has any human being ever seen a live dinosaur? Children and adults alike are absolutely fascinated by these mysterious monsters. Numerous books and movies have been produced to satisfy a seemingly insatiable hunger for information on these puzzling creatures. The truth of the matter, however, is that there are no real mysteries at all, once you have key information that is not generally known and is withheld from the public. Come with me as we take a walk through history and uncover some amazing facts that will answer many of your questions about these â??terrible lizards.â?? Did Dinosaurs Really Exist? Dinosaurs certainly did roam the Earth in the ancient past! Fossils of dinosaurs have been found all over the world, and their bones are displayed in museums for all to see. Scientists have been able to reconstruct many of their skeletons, so we know much about how they may have looked. When Were Dinosaurs Found? The story of their discovery began back in the 1820s, when Gideon Mantell, an English doctor, found some unusual teeth and bones in a quarry. Dr Mantell realized there was something very different about these animal remains, and believed that he had found an entirely new group of reptiles. By 1841, about nine types of these different reptiles had been uncovered, including two called Megalosaurus and Iguanodon. At this time, a famous British scientist (and creationist), Dr Richard Owen, coined the name â??Dinosauria,â?? meaning â??terrible lizard,â?? for this is what the huge bones made him think of. What Makes Dinosaurs Different? Other than the huge size of some dinosaurs, the major feature that really distinguishes dinosaurs from other reptiles (such as crocodiles) is the position of their limbs. Dinosaurs had posture that was fully erect, similar to that in mammals. Most other reptiles have limbs in a sprawling position. For instance, compare the way a crocodile â??walksâ?? with that of, say, a cow. Dinosaurs would have moved like a cow, with the limbs supporting the body from beneath. Crocodiles â??waddle,â?? as their limbs project sideways from their body. How Big Were Dinosaurs? Some were as small as chickens, and others were even smaller. Of course, some dinosaurs were very large, weighing in at an estimated 80 tons and standing 40 feet high! The average size of a dinosaur, however, was probably about that of a small horse. When Did Dinosaurs Live? The story we have all heard from movies, television, newspapers, and most magazines and textbooks is that dinosaurs lived millions of years ago. According to evolutionists, the dinosaurs â??ruled the Earthâ?? for 140 million years, dying out about 65 million years ago. However, scientists do not dig up anything labeled with those ages. They only uncover dead dinosaurs (i.e., their bones), and their bones do not have labels attached telling how old they are. The idea of millions of years of evolution is just the evolutionistsâ?? story about the past. No scientist was there to see the dinosaurs live through this supposed dinosaur age. In fact, there is no proof whatsoever that the world and its fossil layers are millions of years old. No scientist observed dinosaurs die. Scientists only find the bones in the here and now, and because many of them are evolutionists, they try to fit the story of the dinosaurs into their view. Other scientists, called creation scientists, have a different idea about when dinosaurs lived. They believe they can solve any of the supposed dinosaur mysteries and show how the evidence fits wonderfully with their ideas about the past, beliefs that come from the Bible. The Bible, Godâ??s very special book (or collection of books, really), claims that each writer was supernaturally inspired to write exactly what the Creator of all things wanted him to write down for us so that we can know where we (and dinosaurs) came from, why we are here, and what our future will be. The first book in the Bibleâ??Genesisâ??teaches us many things about how the universe and life came into existence. Genesis tells us that God created everythingâ??the Earth, stars, sun, moon, plants, animals, and the first two people. Although the Bible does not tell us exactly how long ago it was that God made the world and its creatures, we can make a good estimate of the date of creation by reading through the Bible and noting some interesting passages: God made everything in six days. He did this, by the way, to set a pattern for mankind, which has become our seven day week (as described in Exodus 20:11). God worked for six days and rested for one, as a model for us. Furthermore, Bible scholars will tell you that the Hebrew word for day used in Genesis 1, can only mean an ordinary day in this context. We are told God created the first man and womanâ??Adam and Eveâ??on Day Six. Many facts about when their children and their childrenâ??s children were born are given in Genesis. These genealogies are recorded throughout the Old Testament, up until the time of Christ. They certainly were not chronologies lasting millions of years. As you add up all of the dates, and accepting that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came to Earth almost 2000 years ago, we come to the conclusion that the creation of the Earth and animals (including the dinosaurs) occurred only thousands of years ago (perhaps only 6000!), not millions of years. Thus, if the Bible is right (and it is!), dinosaurs must have lived within the past thousands of years. Where Did Dinosaurs Come From? Evolutionists claim that dinosaurs evolved over millions of years. They imagine that one kind of animal slowly changed over long periods of time to become a different kind of animal. For instance, they believe that amphibians changed into reptiles (including dinosaurs) by this gradual process. This would mean, of course, that there would have been millions of creatures during that time that would be â??in between,â?? as amphibians evolved into reptiles. Evidence of these â??transitional forms,â?? as they are called, should be abundant. However, many fossil experts admit that not one unquestionable transitional form between any group of creatures and another has been found anywhere. If dinosaurs evolved from amphibians, there should be, for example, fossil evidence of animals that are part dinosaur and part something else. However, there is no proof of this anywhere. In fact, if you go into any museum you will see fossils of dinosaurs that are 100% dinosaur, not something in between. There are no 25%, 50%, 75%, or even 99% dinosaursâ??they are all 100% dinosaur! The Bible tells us that God created all of the land animals on the sixth day of creation. As dinosaurs were land animals, they must have been made on this day, alongside Adam and Eve, who were also created on Day Six (Genesis 1:24-31). If God designed and created dinosaurs, they would have been fully functional, designed to do what they were created for, and would have been 100% dinosaur. This fits exactly with the evidence from the fossil record. Evolutionists declare that no man ever lived alongside dinosaurs. The Bible, however, makes it plain that dinosaurs and people must have lived together. Actually, as we will soon see, there is a lot of evidence for this. What Did Dinosaurs Eat? The Bible teaches (in Genesis 1:29-30) that the original animals (and the first humans) were commanded to be vegetarian. There were no meat eaters in the original creation. Furthermore, there was no death. It was an unblemished world, with Adam and Eve and animals (including dinosaurs) living in perfect harmony, eating only plants. Sadly, it did not stay this way for very long. Adam rebelled against his Creator, bringing sin into the world (Genesis 3:1-7; Romans 5:12). Because of this rebellion, Adam, and thus all of his descendants (you and me), gave up the right to live with a Holy (sinless) and just God. God therefore judged sin with death. The Bible plainly teaches from Genesis to Revelation that there was no death of animals or humans before Adam sinned. (Consider just a few of the many passages, such as: Romans 5:12; Genesis 2:17; Genesis 1:29-30; Romans 8:20-22; Acts 3:21; Hebrews 9:22; I Corinthians 15; Revelation 21:1-4; Revelation 22:3.) This means there could not have been any animal fossils (and no dinosaur bones) before sin. After Adamâ??s sin, animals and people started to die. It was now a different world, one of death and strife. A world that was once beautiful now suffered under the curse placed upon it by the Creator (Genesis 3:14-19). But a promise was given (Genesis 3:15) that God would provide a way for the penalty of sin to be paid so there would be a way for man to come back to God. Why Do We Find Dinosaur Fossils? In Genesis 6, we read that all flesh (man and animals) had â??corrupted his way upon the Earthâ?? (Genesis 6:12). Perhaps people and animals were killing each other; maybe dinosaurs had started killing other animals and humans. In any case, the Bible describes the world as â??wicked.â?? Because of this wickedness, God warned a godly man named Noah that He was going to destroy the world with a Flood (Genesis 6:13). God therefore commanded him to build a great ship (the Ark) so that all the kinds of land animals (which must have included dinosaurs) and Noahâ??s family could survive on board while the Flood destroyed the entire Earth (Genesis 6:14-20). Some people think that dinosaurs were too big, or there were too many of them, to go on this Ark. However, there were not very many different kinds of dinosaurs. There are certainly hundreds of dinosaur names, but many of these were given to just a bit of bone or skeletons of the same dinosaur found in other countries. It is also reasonable to assume that different sizes, varieties, and sexes of the same kind of dinosaur have ended up with different names. For example, look at the many different varieties and sizes of dogs, but they are all the same kind-the dog kind! In reality, there may have been fewer than 50 kinds of dinosaurs. God sent two of every (seven of some) land animal into the Ark (Genesis 7:2-3; 7:8-9)â??there were no exceptions. Therefore, dinosaurs must have been on the Ark. Even though there was ample room in the huge ship for large animals, perhaps God sent young adults into the Ark that still had plenty of room for them to grow. Well, what happened to all the land animals that did not go on the Ark? Very simply, they drowned. Many would have been covered with tons of mud as the rampaging water covered the land (Genesis 7:11-12,19). Because of this quick burial, many of the animals would have been preserved as fossils. If this happened, you would expect to find evidence of billions of dead things buried in rock layers (formed from this mud) all over the Earth. This is exactly what you do find. By the way, the Flood of Noahâ??s day probably occurred just over 4,500 years ago. Creationists believe that this event formed many of the fossil layers around the Earth. (Additional fossil layers were formed by other floods as the Earth settled down after the great Flood.) Thus, the dinosaur fossils which were formed as a result of this Flood were probably formed about 4,500 years ago, not millions of years ago. Have Dinosaurs Lived in Recent Times? If the different kinds of dinosaurs survived the Flood, then they must have come off the Ark and lived in the post-Flood world. In the Bible, in Job 40:15-24, God describes to Job (who lived after the Flood) a great beast with which Job was familiar. This great animal, called â??behemoth,â?? is described as â??the chief of the ways of God,â?? perhaps the biggest land animal God had created. Impressively, he moved his tail like a cedar tree! Although some Bible commentaries say this may have been an elephant or hippopotamus, the description actually fits that of a dinosaur like Brachiosaurus. Elephants and hippos certainly do not have tails like cedar trees! Actually, very few animals are singled out in the Bible for such a detailed description. Contrary to what many may think, what we know now as dinosaurs get more mention in the Scriptures than most animals! So dinosaursâ??all the different kindsâ??must have lived alongside of people after the Flood. Are Dinosaurs Mentioned in Ancient Literature? Interestingly, the word â??dragonâ?? is used a number of times in the Old Testament. In most instances, the word dinosaur could substitute for dragon and it would fit very nicely. Creation scientists believe that dinosaurs were called dragons before the word dinosaur was invented in the 1800s. We would not expect to find the word dinosaur in Bibles like the Authorized Version (1611), as it was translated well before the word dinosaur was ever used. Also, there are many very old history books in various libraries around the world that have detailed records of dragons and their encounters with people. Surprisingly (or not so surprisingly for creationists), many of these descriptions of dragons fit with how modern scientists would describe dinosaurs, even Tyrannosaurus. Unfortunately, this evidence is not considered valid by evolutionists. Why? Only because their belief is that man and dinosaurs did not live at the same time! However, the more we research the historical literature, the more we realize there is overwhelming evidence that dragons were real beasts, much like our modern reconstructions of dinosaurs, and that their existence has been recorded by many different people, even just hundreds of years ago. What Happened to Dinosaurs? Evolutionists use their imagination in a big way in answering this question. Because of their belief that dinosaurs â??ruledâ?? the world for millions of years, and then disappeared millions of years before man allegedly evolved, they have had to come up with all sorts of guesses to explain this â??mysteriousâ?? disappearance. When reading evolutionist literature, you will be astonished at the range of ideas concerning their supposed extinction. The following is just a small list of theories: Dinosaurs starved to death; they died from overeating; they were poisoned; they became blind from cataracts and could not reproduce; mammals ate their eggs. Other causes include-volcanic dust, poisonous gases, comets, sunspots, meteorites, mass suicide, constipation, parasites, shrinking brain (and greater stupidity), slipped discs, changes in the composition of air, etc. It is obvious that evolutionists donâ??t know what happened and are grasping at straws. In a recent evolutionary book on dinosaurs, â??A New Look At the Dinosaurs,â?? the author made the statement: â??Now comes the important question. What caused all these extinctions at one particular point in time, approximately 65 million years ago? Dozens of reasons have been suggested, some serious and sensible, others quite crazy, and yet others merely as a joke. Every year people come up with new theories on this thorny problem. The trouble is that if we are to find just one reason to account for them all, it would have to explain the death, all at the same time, of animals living on land and of animals living in the sea; but, in both cases, of only some of those animals, for many of the land dwellers and many of the sea-dwellers went on living quite happily into the following period. Alas, no such one explanation existsâ?? (Alan Charig, p. 150). But, one such explanation does exist. If you remove the evolutionary framework, get rid of the millions of years, and then take the Bible seriously, you will find an explanation that fits the facts and makes perfect sense: At the time of the Flood, many of the sea creatures died, but some survived. In addition, all of the land creatures outside the Ark died, but the representatives of all the kinds that survived on the Ark lived in the new world after the Flood. Those land animals (including dinosaurs) found the new world to be much different than the one before the Flood. Due to (1) competition for food that was no longer in abundance, (2) other catastrophes, (3) man killing for food (and perhaps for fun), and (4) the destruction of habitats, etc., many species of animals eventually died out. The group of animals we now call dinosaurs just happened to die out too. In fact, quite a number of animals become extinct each year. Extinction seems to be the rule in Earth history (not the formation of new types of animals as you would expect from evolution). Will We Ever See a Live Dinosaur? The answer is probably not â?¦ but, then again? There are some scientists who believe a few dinosaurs may have survived in remote jungles. We are still discovering new species of animals and plants today in areas that have been too difficult to explore until now. Even natives in some countries describe beasts that fit with what might be a dinosaur. Creationists, of course, would not be surprised if someone found a living dinosaur. However, evolutionists would then have to explain why they made dogmatic statements that man and dinosaur never lived at the same time. I suspect they would say something to the effect that this dinosaur somehow survived because it was trapped in a remote area that has not changed for millions of years. You see, no matter what is found, or how embarrassing it is to evolutionistsâ?? ideas, they will always be able to concoct an â??answerâ?? because evolution is a belief. It is not scienceâ??it is not fact! What Lessons Can We Learn From the Dinosaur? When we see the bones of dinosaurs, we can be reminded that death was not a part of the original creation. Death is actually an intruder, entering when the first man disobeyed God. The Bible tells us that because we are all descendants of Adam, we too have sinned: â??Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinnedâ?? (Romans 5:12); â??For all have sinned and come short of the glory of Godâ?? (Romans 3:23). We need to recognize that the wickedness in the world is because of sin, because man rebelled against God. We can also be reminded that God, who made all things, including the dinosaurs, is also a judge of His creation. He judged Adamâ??s rebellion by cursing the world with death. Adam was warned about what would happen if he disobeyed Godâ??s instruction not to eat the fruit of one particular tree. â??But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely dieâ?? (Genesis 2:17). Dinosaurs can also remind us that God judged the rebellion in Noahâ??s day by destroying the wicked world with water, resulting in the death of millions of creatures. The Bible teaches us that He will again judge the world, but next time by fire: â??But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the Earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned upâ?? (2 Peter 3:10). We can also be reminded that after this judgment by fire, God will make a new heaven and Earth: â??Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new Earth, wherein dwelleth righteousnessâ?? (2 Peter 3:13). And what will it be like in this new Earth? â??And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed awayâ?? (Revelation 21:4). But we are also warned that many will not be allowed into this new Earth but will suffer for eternity: â??But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second deathâ?? (Revelation 21:8). Humans, who are all sinful from conception (Psalm 51:5), cannot live with a Holy God, but are condemned to separation from God. But, God provided a wonderful means of deliverance from sin. The Bible teaches that God offered the perfect sacrifice needed to pay the penalty for manâ??s sin. Godâ??s own Son, the one who in fact created the world (Colossians 1:16), came to Earth as a man, as a descendant of Adam, to suffer the death penalty for sin. â??But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept. For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made aliveâ?? (I Corinthians 15:20-22). The Lord Jesus Christ died on a cross, but on the third day, rose again, conquering death, so that anyone who believes in Him and accepts Him into his or her life, is able to come back to God and live for eternity with the Creator. â??For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting lifeâ?? (John 3:16); â??If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousnessâ?? (I John 1:9). For those who do not accept by faith what Christ has done for them and do not recognize their sinful nature and need for redemption, the Bible warns that such people will live forever, but will be separated from God in a place of torment that the Bible calls Hell. But for those who commit their lives to the Lordâ??what a wonderful message! What a wonderful Savior! What a wonderful salvation in Christ the Creator! feels like eye being pushed out when weight lifting? no kidding....scrunch my eyes up when lifting as it feels like there is pressure behind it and it might get pushed forward....just one eye...it has always been the weaker eye but now I can't read even large writing with it. I don't notice unless I close my good eye(can't see properly) or weight lift (feel pressure). I am 39. history...Mum has macular degeneration and cataracts. Spent the last year or so studying for various CPA exams (I know I suck as a student) but even with heavy studying in the past, the poor eye always bounced back after a day or two. Been to a military doctor in Iraq and had an eye test in Scotland...both said get a pair of glasses with a prescription for one eye or don't worry about it if the other eye is picking up the slack. I emailed John Hopkins after searching answers and am waiting to hear back. Anyone know what causes this?
how do i decide when to put my dog down? my dog is almost 17 years old now. within the last couple of years things have really started to go downhill for her... she began with a skin disorder that no vet could figure out. i had her on steroids for awhile, which helped a little, but then she started having seizures, so i took her off them. the skin disorder cleared up, but now she has severe cataracts, she is completely deaf and she has arthritis in her rear leg. over the last week or so the arthritis has gotten so bad that she limps when she walks and almost cannot support any weight on that leg. it causes her to fall, and often she can't get up unless i lift her and rub her leg to get her going. usually so good about her bathroom habits, she has begun going wherever she feels like it. she is still a happy dog, she still wags her tail, she still gives and receives affection, but her quality of life is so diminished that i can't help wondering if it's time. she doesn't seem to be in pain, and i can't decide. help!
New puppy question? I got a new puppy recently, the problem is my kitten hates him. She actually swatted at him, getting him in the eye, causing him to have secondary laucoma (punctured the eyeball, causing all the fluid to go behind his eye) he should be fine, is on tons of meds, and will probably have cataracts later in life (thankfully no surgery needed, but man the cost of emergancy pet care is outragous) Now my question is, how can I introduce them, and without having to have them seperated all the time? I love them both, I do not want to get rid of either of them, and I dont feel declawing a cat is humane. Help? The puppy is a lhasa apso, he isnt much bigger than the kitten, I dont think the cat feels physically threatened, more jelous that the dog is takin her mom away.
