How can you tell if a dog has cataracts? I have a 10 year old Rottweiler, and when I got her last year our vet noticed she had a blue tint in her eyes, which she said was normal for older dogs. How can I tell if she begins developing cataracts?
What do cataracts look like and is it possible for someone in their 20s to get them? My left eye started burning a little just now, so I removed my contacts and instead put on my eyeglasses. As I was removing my contact from my left eye, I noticed a really small white spot on the colored part of my eye, at the very top. I had never seen this spot before. I tried rubbing my eye to see if it was lint or dirt or something but it doesn't move at all. My eye is a litlle red, but I can see perfectly out of that eye, with either my contacts or glasses on that is. What could the white spot be? Do you you think it could be cataracts or something?
Cataracts? What age can you get them? Is it mainly in older people? I'm 23 turning 24 in August... I'm thinking something is wrong with my eye... Blurred on one part of my left eye, feels like the goop in your eye when you wake up, tried rubbing it lightly and rinsing it.. doesn't seem to help. I've had it for a week now, not sure what it is or what had caused this. Been rinsing my eye also 2-3x daily as well. Will be going to the Docs in the next couple days also. If anyone could help me out here with any info, would be greatly apprieciated.
Should I have my dog operated for cataracts? My thirteen year old Schnauzer has been through a lot, and is terrified of the vet. She has cataracts, but she can still see well enough to get around. She is happy and otherwise healthy, and I'm very afraid that something could go wrong with the cataract surgery and leave her worse than she is now. I think of waiting until she can no longer see, but I would appreciate comments and suggestions.
How fast do cataracts in rabbits occur? My rabbit has a cataract in his left eye, and another one is starting on his other eye. Right now it's just a little grey spec, how long will it be before it becomes a full blown cataract? Vet told me there's nothing I can do to prevent it, is it really that hopeless?
Why would a dog's eyes have gray lines on the pupils? Cataracts maybe? I just noticed my dog's eyes now have gray in them. One has a line of gray right across the middle, and the other looks as though it is half the outline of a contact lens. Could this be cataracts or is it something else. I just noticed it all of a sudden. She will be 8 July 3rd so not too old, but getting up there. And just in case it matters she is a weimaraner.
Does anyone have a dog that has cataracts? My 8 year old dog has a cataract in his left eye, is there another treatment other than surgery? I've heard of prescription eye drops called Ocluvet, has anyone ever used that on their pet?
Which is better Resotr or Crystalens for Cataracts? My boss is having cataract surgery and is being given two options, Restor or Cyrstalens. Can someone who has had either verision please let me know what you experience has been. Or if you have knowledge of either which is best. Thank you.
Do I have small eyes because I was born with cataracts? Every eye doctor I see will remind me that my eyes are smaller than normal. Only a few people have been able to notice right away because the difference is less than 2mm diameter. I haven't seen an eye doctor for a couple of years and didn't think to ask before. Do you think that the cataract surgery at such a young age (2 weeks) is related to having smaller eyes as an adult?
Cataracts: did anyone on here use an eye drops product to get rid of cataracts? About 2 and a half years ago a product called Brighteyes or perhaps Eyesbright was featured on the Richard and Judy TV show and in a couple of daily papers. It was claimed it would get rid of cataracts. As it has not been featured since and as the original featuring of the product would have enticed loads of folks to try it out, am I right in assuming that it does not work particularily well. I was suspicious of the research in Russia showing its effectiveness. If it works we should now be snowed under with people who have lost their cataracts as a result of buying the product. PAULBR8. I dont intend to use the product. I dont even have cataracts. I dont for one minute intend to use the product. I am basically saying this product must be poor and why have the original promoters of the product not followed this up. LEARN HOW TO READ BETWEEN THE LINES, AND DONT BE SO DAMN ABRASIVE.
Eye drops to dissolve cataracts in dogs? Does anyone have experience with using N-Acetyl-L-Carnosine eye drops for cataracts in their dogs? It's marketed under several different trade names, such as Bright Eyes, Can-C, and Eye D'Clare. Does it work?
Cataracts How Did They Used to Remove Them? Ive heard in the old days to remove cataracts, they would take your eye balls out and leave them dangling on your cheeks whilst they scarped them away. is that true? If so how did they get your eye balls out and how did they manage to put them back in?
Clinical medical question regarding congenital cataracts? I am studying and doing research on this clinical question and have two questions I am having difficulty with. Any help would be great, thank you. By the way-this is NOT a real clinical case. The parents of a newborn infant have been told that their son has congenital cataracts in both eyes and will require cataract surgery to prevent losing his sight. Why is the infant at risk for losing his sight if the cataracts are not removed? I don't understand this? When should this procedure be done to prevent loss of his vision?
Does anyone know of a natural cure for cataracts ? Does anyone know of natural drops that can be put in the eye for cataracts.I would rather have the name of drops but if you have any name of any herbs that can be either put on the eye or taken in the mouth for eye health(cataracts) Please let me know. Thanks
Can you tell me about cataracts? I am in the beginning stages of having cataracs. The internet does not show anything about them. Can you tell me what happens and how long does a person go without having surgery?

can I help my pony's cataracts without surgery? I have a little pony and I was just wondering if anyone knows if there is a way to at least ease the cataracts without surgery. I would like to stay away from surgical procedures if possible because of the risk involved with horses under anesthesia
Question about eye Cataracts? Tomorrow I will be getting my eyes checked. The last time I had my eyes checked was like when I was like in 8th grade or freshmen year (I'm 25 now so its been a while). The last time I had my eyes checked the eye doctor said that I have a cataract in one of my eyes. I'm supposed to be wearing glasses but I haven't wore my glasses in a long time. I'm a little bit nervous cause I haven't had my eyes checked in a long time. My question is what exactly are cataracts and can it be fixed? Would it be fixed by surgery or with some sort of laser? Also would the surgery make my vision better? How long is recovery time? Please tell me anything you know about cataracts and cataract surgery? Considering I haven't had my eyes checked in a while should I wear my old eyeglasses today to get used to the glasses?
Cataract Healed Group - non-operative solution for cataracts.? Searching for a non-operative solution for cataracts. I am 56 F. 8 years ago I was diagnosed with cataracts in both eyes and now my doctor urges me to operate but all in me cries "DO NOT"! I believe my kind of cataracts is a soft one and might be dealed with in a non intrusive way. The vision is only slightly clouded with more of it in one eye´s inner corner. The dimension of this vision limiting part changes! Overall I eat quite healthy (no junk food, no white flour or sugar etc.) but do not exercise and as a student and writer I sit at PC too much. Acupuncture being too panfull for me I am on ayurvedic Triphala course today.
Are congential cataracts progressive? I have had congenital cataracts since birth. I haven't had surgery, but I want to go into the military and they will not let me in if I have progressive cataracts. I belileve mine are nucleat but I am not sure.
Is cataracts surgery scary? I'm 16 and I have cataracts in my right eye. I went to a eye doctor to get some glasses for my right eye. He said I have a cataract in my right eye and he told me I need a cataract surgery. Is cataract surgery scary?
Cataracts in both eyes? What can a 74 year old expect when having cataracts removed from both their eyes. The operations will be two weeks apart. How successful is this operation? Is it very painful? How long (on average) does it take to recover from the operation? How soon after the operation can one drive a car again? Any hints and tips will be much appreciated.
What causes foggy vision in sunlight? Cataracts? I'm diabetic, and I've experienced some diabetic problems. My immediate concern is fogginess in my vision when I'm in sunlight ... even indirect sunlight. It only happens during sunlight. My night vision is OK as is my vision in artificial light. I've been seeing an opthalmologist in another city for years, and he's been watching some slowly developing cataracts, as well as a tiny bit of bleeding in the back of the eye, and possibly some swelling of the retina. He told me a year ago that he could remove my cataracts anytime, but that the other problems just need annual checkups. However, I've moved to another city, and this week I went to a new ophthalmologist. He said I do not have cataracts and that my foggy vision is due to poor diabetes control. Who's right? I will take better care of my diabetes, but I trust my original eye doctor. Does foggy vision in sunlight sound like cataracts? I've had out-of-focus vision from diabetes before, but I think this is cataracts. Help!
Recurring Cataracts? I had cataract surgery on both eyes just over a year ago. A few weeks ago I noticed my eyesight is very poor again. It almost seems to be going in the same direction it did when I first started getting cataracts. Its hard to drive at night, halos around lights etc, having a really hard time seeing up close, even with glasses. I know that the seeing up close part may be just me needing to update my prescription, but the rest of it? I was told when I had the surgery they wouldnt recurr but now Im wondering if that is not true. I read something briefly a week ago that says they can recurr.
Sudden cataracts? This is weird, lately I have sudden cataracts that appear out of a sudden. For example, two weeks ago I looked in the mirror and noticed a little white spot in my right pupil. Then this morning there's one in my left eye. But last night there wasn't any. Is sudden cataracts a sign of a serious medical condition?
Canine Cataracts? My 5 1/2 year old Cocker just went in for her annual visit to the vet. She has begun to have Cataracts. Is there anything I can do as an owner to prevent them from getting worse, or are cataracts purely genetic/from aging. She was tested for Diabetes and tested negative. ! :) !
Don't cataracts= going blind? I'm really concerned about my stepdad. He went to the doctor's today about sight problems and it turns out he has cataracts. He is being sent for surgery for this. How will the surgery help? I have been lead to believe that if you get cataracts, you will eventually go blind, irregardless of surgery. Is this true? I love my stepdad and don't want him to go blind!
Any one ever hear of somebody getting cataracts from Seroquel? I starting taking seroquel as part of an research study; they got people with Major Depression and they're trying out Seroquel as a medicaition (it's usually used for Bipolar or Schizophrenia). They mentioned cataracts as a possible side effect. The doctor with the study said it's not likely because the cataracts happened only with dogs who given seroquel and not people. Now my eye doctor says I'm getting cataracts, I have been in the Seroquel study for eight months. I'm going to be 50 this month, isn't that a little young to have cataracts?
Please tell me facts about cataracts? I have a very close relative who is having vision problems. I'm not sure if its cataracts or not. Only one eye is affected. The center of his pupil is whitish in color. The white patch does not fill his whole pupil but only 3/4 of it. The symptoms have been going for a year or so. I heard that eye is now blinded. The doctors he has been to did not tell him to go for surgery or whatever. Is it cataracts? Is that eye permanently blind? Can anything be done about it? Will his other eye be affected? Is the blindness caused by phacomorphic glaucoma? What are the VISIBLE symptoms of cataracts? I want to take note as to whether I have these symptoms too. Please answer all my queries and give additional information. I'm really worried. Thank you.
Husky with juvenile cataracts? I want to adopt a Husky, but she has juvenile cataracts, this is what the owner says: Yukon (the dog) has juvenile cataracts, however, i do have her eyes checked regularly, and they are not affecting her sight at all. She has had them for a couple years now. Other than that condition, she has been PERFECTLY healthy her entire life. She is 5 years old, and how will this affect her life.. or my vet bill!! lol But shes not blind! The vet even said that her eye sight is great, but later on down the road will this affect her?

About cataracts...? I was recently told by my optometrist that I have "small cataracts" in both eyes that she said are different from the ones that you need surgeries for. Anyone know anything about that?
Dog cataracts? No, not Chinese takeout cars... My westie, she's 13, has cataracts. One eye is really bad and weeps all the time. Is there anything I can do, aside from surgery, to help her see and stop the tearing?
Canine Cataracts? I just got back from the vet and she told me that there is a possibility that my 1 1/2 year old dog has cataracts. I am going to get her the surgery, but I was wondering if anyone had a ballpark figure about how much it costs. Thanks.
Dog cataracts? how can i tell and what treatment? Hi, Me and my boyfriend have recently noticed that r dog has been walking into things and not really recognising where sounds or anything is coming from and acting quite clumsy. when we had a look in his eyes tonight we seen that they looked quite cloudy more so in one eye than the other, could this be cataracts? if so what can we do, iv heard about surgery but my dog is quite old (15, nearly 16!!) and the vet may not want to operate, is there any more solutions? can any one give me a ball park figure about how much the op may cost?? thanks in advance!
Dog Cataracts Gold Coast Qld Australia? My shih-tzu has cataracts on both eyes she can hardly see I cant afford surgery, any herbal or other solutions, please please help. Could the qld uni do the surgery as part of their vet training. Thanks Marlene
Lasiks eye surgery with cataracts? I have heard that you can not have Lasiks if you have cataracts but I can not find any info on the subject. I have had a cataract in my left eye since childhood but it no way effects my vision.
I have cataracts growing but the eye Dr. says they aren't ripe enough to remove. What can I do in the meantime Both of my brothers had catteracts removed after I was told that I had them. They didn't even know they couldn't see. LOL! I however know that I am having a hard time seeing but I am still wating. I wonder what they did differently? I know the both were to stubborn to wear their biofocals except for reading only. If I stop wearing my glasses will my catteracts thichen so that I can get them removed and see again? Would the eyes strainning to see make the cataracts thicken?
hip dysplasia/cataracts? My german shepperd has hip dysplasia (not sure if i spelled that correctly) as well as cataracts. Surgery for her joints would cost about $7000 (can't afford that). She's on medications, but they only treat the problem, not get rid of it. Is it selfish to want to keep her alive, or is it cruel to even think about putting her down?
any body out there that had cataracts ?? when i was a baby, i was born with cataracts. so basicly i was blind. but i was lucky enough to get my lenses takin out before the cataract took over my eye. i have had about 7-9 surgerys in my life. so now all i see is big colorful blurs without my contacts or special glasses. they are not regular glasses you could use for reading, they are big thick glasses that people with lenses cant see through but i can see through them without my contacts. im 12 years old now and my little brother (8) has the same exact problem. im perfectly fine with my problem and it doesnt really bother me. i just wanted to know if any one else out there has this problem !!! <33333
my dog has cataracts? ive asked about my dog before, the white of her eyes are red and the third eyelid is showing alot, is this normal with cataracts? also we dont have money to see a vet so if she is in pain could anyone help give advice?
Can lazik surgery correct astigmatism and cataracts? I had an eye exam 6 month ago and my doctor said I had the very beginning signs of a cataract on my right eye. I also have astigmatism in both eyes. Because of this, my glasses do not correct my vision as much as I would like and I cannot wear contacts. Since, I have bi-focals they tried putting a different lense in each eye but I could not see at all with the contacts. Approximately how long does is take from the beginning stages of cataracts until Medicare will pay for the surgery? Also, is this same surgery the same as lazik that is suppose to correct our farsightedness or nearsightedness? Also, will Lazik surgery correct astigmatism? If so, would it be adviseable to go ahead and pay for my own surgery and have it alll corrected at once?
Will surgery to repair a detached retina cause cataracts to form immediately after the surgery? had eye surgery 3 weeks ago to repair a detached retina and was told the was a possibility that cataracts might occur sometime in the future. I went in for 2 checkups during the 3 week period and was told everything looked fine. Now today 22 days after the surgery, I still cannot see anything at all out of the repaired eye and was told I need cataract surgery ASAP, that the retina surgery caused the cataracts to form almost immediately. The surgeon is losing credibility, as I went from doing very well to needing a second almost immediate surgery in the space of two weeks. Can anyone tell me if this is an expected outcome of surgery for a detached retina. Thanx
Steroid meds and cataracts? I have severe atopic dermatitis (eczema) and have been prescribed Prednisone on and off for several years. Two years ago, my family doctor put me on Prednisone for more than a month straight subsequent to an allergy attack on my skin. Ever since then my eyesight has been getting worse. I heard Prednisone and other steroid meds can cause cataracts. Is this true?
White spots on a dogs eyes...dont look like cataracts? I'm looking at adopting a dog but it has white spots in it's eyes. It 's a white sheep dog of some sort. I thas some black markings. Around the eyes it is very fair and pink colored. They say she is only 2 or 3 years old. They said she may be blind but she really doesn't act like it. I have to adopt her then take her to the vet, they won't look at her before hand, so I'm trying to decide what to do. So anyways.. She has a white spot on each eye but I have had dogs before, that were much older, that had cataracts and these don't look like cataracts. There is no cloudiness. It's just a spot in each eye but they are good sized spots. I just wonder if someone did something to her eyes, like spilled something in them or something. She seems so young to have cataracts. So anyone who may know a little more about this or know any thing else it could be I would appreciate it. Like I said i can't just take her to a vet. She is at a town shelter and they don't have anyone to look at her. Thanks
Any home Remedies for Cataracts? My father was recently diagnosed with cataracts in one eye and glycoma in the other. He is taking the eye drops from the Dr (when he remembers), with no healing progress. I am in more favor of home remedies, I just have no clue (other than eat more carrots) on whats helps these dieseases. Any suggests would help ALOT!
Do most cats develop cataracts during old age? I am writing because my cat has only one eye and i want to know if i am worrying myself over nothing by being concerned that he will eventually lose sight in his other eye, too. are cataracts and blindness the usual when it comes to cats aging?
Female betta is HUGE! She also has cataracts?? I got her about 6 months ago at walmart (which I know says NOTHING about her age) and put her in a 5 gallon tank with 5 other small fish. She was about 1.5" long at the time I bought her. I had a male betta in the tank but he died, and all except for one of the other fish died also. I currently have this female betta with a barb (not sure what it is). The female has grown to approx. 3.5" and has really elongated her fins, almost as flowy as a male betta. She is really fat and eats like crazy. She has a small (1/16") white thing that constantly hangs out of her anus(not sure about this location either). She looks bloated but she's not, there are no diseases in the tank because it's been treated for a long time. She has cataracts... I think. Her eyes are covered with a cataract-like film that keeps intensifying. It seems as though she can still see fairly well. What the heck is wrong with her? Is she just old, or is she fat and lazy with diseases?
Cure for my dog's cataracts? My bichon frise is about 12 years old and is almost blind due to cataracts. The local vet hospital said it would cost $6,000 to fix the problem! Is there a way to get the surgery done without incurring that kind of expense? Thanks.

Has anyone here been diagnosed with posterior subcapsular cataracts? How long afterward did your doctor recommend surgery? I'm in my early 40's, and was diagnosed today. New glasses will help for a time (about a year, the doc says), but I will be having surgery eventually. I guess I'd just prefer to have it over and done with while I'm relatively young and in good health. I'd love to drive at night again instead of relying on my husband. So, my question is, if you've had posterior subcapsular cataracts, how long did it take you to have the surgery after you were diagnosed?
Can falling down very hard on the face (near eyes) cause cataracts to form in the eye? (I'm 61).? I fell very hard from a kitchen chair and hit my face on a carpeted floor that has cement beneath it. Three weeks later my eyelid that hit against a cabinet before I hit the floor is still sore and I see some spots in my eye. Can a fall like this cause cataracts to form? I fell off a kitchen chair and landed very hard on a carpeted floor that has cement beneath it. I hit a cabinet door latch on the way down. The result was a blackened left eye for several days and a lacerated left eyelid. This was 3 weeks ago and I still see some spots in my left eye. Could these be cataracts from the fall? The eye itself was not red or discolored; it just felt odd from the pressure of hitting it. I'm rather worried about it, now.
5yr old Maltese has bluish white pupils that dialate back and forth. Could he be blind or have cataracts? We just rescued "Zoey", he was going to be euthanized at the animal shelter. :( He is a beautiful 5 year old boy. The best dog you could ever have! He has not had one accident in the house yet! We are hoping that he is not blind, but he will walk into things quite often. We have been doing some research on cataracts and blindness in dogs. His eyes look like the pics of those taken of cataracts. He has a vet appt. this week coming up. I just didnt know if anyone has any dogs that have cataracts to help possibly shed some light on this for us. This is our first inside dog and we are just totally in love with him. If he does end up being blind, he will only be loved more...if that is even possible?!
cataracts-- Secondary Cataract? I had cataract surgary a year and half ago. My right eye had a cloud over it and floter and light stight on the side. It has never been right, now the doctor says I have a secondary cataract. Wants to lazor surgary. I don't want to loose my eye sight. What to do??
Cataract in my loved dog...? She is Eskimo/border colly mis, 14 years old, has had cataracts, complete in one eye, well over 50% in the other, has had them for years, and has adapted well. NOW she has gone completely deaf, and spends much of her time lost in the house, will get distressed and just stand and bark until we go up and touch her. She is amazingly healthy other than this. She knows her yard and gets exercise, eats well, her coat is lovely and stays well groomed with minimum of input from us. For anyone whose dog has had cataract surgery, do you think that would help her at this point? It looks like she will live quite a bit longer, and would be willing to do this if it would enhance her life. We love her lots, and it breaks my heart to see her get so "lost" in the house. She has a companion dog, a Jack Russell, almost the same age, and this one's disability has resulted in a little intimidation and bullying behavior from the other one.
Toddler and cataracts.? Has anyone ever heard of a toddler having a cataract. My husband and I took my 1 yr old son to the eye doctor today because his peditrician thought that he had a lazy eye. The eye doctor said that he has a cataract in his left eye causing him to use his right eye to see with (which is making his left eye lazy), he refered us to a pediatric eye doctor to have the cataract removed, has anyone ever heard of this..??????
Cataract Surgery? Please answer my questions? I am twenty but the dr said I was getting cataracts. My eyes have got worse. What I want to know is, if I get the surgery, will I be asleep or unconcious during the whole time? Does it hurt a lot? When will I be able to see again and do I need complete assistance for a while? Thank you for all your answers.
Are cataract operations generally successful One eye is very bad and the other is still pretty good? Recently I found driving at night very hard. I have problems writing on the computer now as my eyes bother me. They say that this operation is not a major one, and I wonder if I will be able to see right away or will I have to have patches over my eyes? I am 70 years old now but I enjoy woodworking and writing but I seem to have problems seeing like I used to. They found that I had cataracts when I went to update my glasses. I know of only one person that has had this operation and it went well with her. I am hoping to get some encouragement. Even writing this is about all i can do. Wayne
What is the time between the noticable start of a cataract and blindness caused by trauma or ageing? I can only see out of one eye and since a recent eye trauma to my good eye have a cataract forming.I am reluctant to undertake a cataract operation now due to the increased. risk of retinal detachment arising therefrom. My only option seems to allow the cataract to keep forming and when my vision becomes really bad then to have the operation on the basis I won't have much to loose if it results in a retinal detachment.I am 55 years of age and have just given up my job as an accountant due to problems with double vision. The general answer is that cataracts take years to form but I think this is more age related. Has anyone experienced a cataract forming and over what period. I would just like to get an idea whether I have 6 months or 10 years or whatever. Maybe there isn't an answer
What are the risks of having a cataract operation done? I have bad eyesight from my younger days. Recently I have been diagnosed with Glaucoma (responding to treatment). Dr. says getting a cataract operation will improve my sight. I do not have any cataracts in my eyes. I am 45 years old, female. I have Type 2 Diabetes (though taking Insulin) but no retinopathy. I am short sighted as well as have astigmatism. Is it true that getting a cataract done - replacing lenses has some risks and the operation can go wrong?
does my dog have a cataract? Today outside I noticed that my dog looks like she has a slimy grey spot in the bottom corner of her eye, its pretty large. People at work said it was a cataract. Now I can't see it indoors though, can you only see some cataracts in the daylight? What about with a flashlight?
Shih tzus and cataracts? Help!!!? My two year old shih tzu just gave birth to 5 pups six days ago. Then my siblings discovered that her left eye is in the early stage of cataract. Is there an operation to cure that?

Boston Terrior Owners - Does anyone have experience with cataracts with their BT's? My BT is 10.75 YO. Very good health but has one mature cataract and one that is fairly new. The eye specialist said he will be completely blind in a few months. I went ahead and scheduled the surgery for two weeks from now. The Dr. said that with BT there is a 80% chance for success and my guy is an excellent candidate. He is very healthy and happy now. Am I doing the right thing by having the surgery? Any advice on post surgery. Thank you
How can I get a 78 y.o, blatant Paranoid Schzophrenic with cataracts to a doctor? He has no family to speak of. Executors ( and heirs) are waltzing around the problem. I fear he will kill someone...intentionally or not . He's physically abused the cat and verbally abused the person caring for him. Any advice? He desperately needs an evaluation, medicatiotn and cataract surgery. He won't go...all he says is "you think I'm crazy." He's still driving!
Can someone tell me the do's and don'ts of looking after a person who has had their cataracts removed? My mother is also an insulin dependent diabetic. She had a cataract removed this morning but she is refusing to eat proper meals and has also not taken her insulin before her evening meal as her blood sugar was low. She has just had a tiny amount of pudding as her evening meal. I don't know what the doctors at the hospital have told her regarding the aftercare of her operation but this does not sound right to me. As a diabetic she needs to have regular meals and it's imperative that she takes her insulin. Can any experts on the subject advise me regarding this matter? Thank you.

Toddler with cataract? Has anyone ever heard of a toddler with a cataract, my husband and I took my 1 yr old son to the eye doc today because his ped doc was concerned about a lazy eye. The eye doc says he has a cataract in his left eye, causing him to use his right eye to see, because he cant see out of the left eye. He is refering us to a perdiatric eye doctor to have the cataract removed, has anyone ever heard of this.
Cataract...? In ophthalmology, a cataract is known as the opacity of the eye lens: 1. Who are the people who ever did the first cataract operation? 2. How was it done? 3. What is the natural phenomena? PS: people who are biased, aggressive and use foul language are jackasses. So choose what you want to be!

My 14 month old has a cataract...? My 14 month old has a cataract.? About 2 months ago, we found out that my son who is 14 months old has a cataract on his right eye. We saw a pediatric opthamologist whom decided surgery would not be the best option at this point. He gave my baby a pair of glasses to wear with a very powerful lense over the eye with the cataract and a plain lense over his good eye. My question is how can glasses help my son see through a cataract. I am thinking that the best thing to do would be to remove the cataract then give him glasses if his vision needs to be corrected. If anyone knows anything about this please help me ease my mind. I am worried if he wears the glasses and they are too strong if will ruin what eyesite he does have in that eye...?????

What causes to have cataract??? I just had a cataract surgery a week ago. One eye at a time. Next surgery will be my left eye. My friend told me that I'm still to young to have cataract. I don't consider young myself when I hit 50 years old. I don't know if staring to long on the computer screen can cause cataract.
