Symptoms After Gallbladder Surgery Knowledge Base
Still have same symptoms after gallbladder surgery anybody else? I'm 5 days after gallbladder surgery, I've been very careful what I eat. Today I drank a small amount of coffee/decaf with non dairy creamer and about 2 hrs later I had the same old symptoms, belching ,sharp stabbing pain between my shoulder blades and abdominal pain , anybody else have their symptoms not change after surgery?
What should you expect after gallbladder surgery? I had my gallbladder taken out a couple of weeks ago because I had a ton of gallstones and I feel like ive been getting heartburn like crazy. What other symptoms are "normal or okay" to have after this surgery?
Still have pain and get sick after gallbladder removal surgery? I had my gallbladder removed over 2 years ago. Didnt have gallstones it just quit working. I'm still having pain in that area and i get really sick after i eat sometimes symptoms include...nausea, bloating, just overall upset stomach. Anyone else have this problem or know anything about this? Thanks. I'm pretty sure my diet is the reason. I hate to have to give up some of these foods but if it means feeling better then so be it. Thanks for the list its very helpful
Did you have your gallbladder and stones removed, yet still have symptoms? I had my gallbladder removed 2 weeks ago. Yet, today, after I ate a bagel I was having the same symptoms again. My symptoms are of the lower intestines, gas/bloating, not the throwing up and chest pains. It's not horrible, but it's the same symptoms I had. Did anyone experience this same thing, and if so, what did you do about it? Please don't answer this question, unless you've had the surgery and still experience some symptoms. Thanks.
What are the symptoms if your gallbladder explodes? I know this sounds weird, but I'm due for surgery next Monday to have it removed lapriscopically. It's been really bad for the last 3 years and was wondering if there is a chance it could burst before I got there? What are the symptoms so I'll know.
Gallbladder Surgery Question? For the past 2 months I have had severe stomach pains and attacks after eating, vomiting, weight loss, etc. My doctors finally came to the conclusion after some testing and an ultrasound that I need to have my gallbladder removed. I am having surgery next week and for about a week the symptoms subsided and now I am having severe abdominal discomfort. I am just wondering and wanting to hear about those who have had the same situation and surgery done as to what you went through before and after surgery. I appreciate serious answers only. Thank You!
Gallbladder surgery? I have a possibility of having gallbladder surgery, if you have had it done, what was the recovery like, lots of pain, how long do you stay in the hospital, how long are you laid up, not doing much. How big of an incision did they make? Do you have to avoid any certain kinds of food afterwards. Why did you have it done, if it wasn't like an infection or something what were your symptoms and did it help? I know thats a large question but Im very curious. Thanks!
Post gallbladder removal diarrhea and pain around the naval? I am now 5 weeks post gallbladder removal. With 3 incicions. They also repaired a hernia that they found when doing the gallbladder surgery. I have diarrhea several times a day, worse in mornings, and also pain around the naval that is intermittent. Anyone else have these symptoms?
Gallbladder surgery, Did I make the right choice? I went to see a surgeon today because I have a gallstone. He said I have no symptoms and only one gallstone so did not need to have my gallbladder removed. However, when I told the surgeon that my husband and I plan to have another child in the near future...he said "good enough reason. Now let's talk about the surgery". The surgeon gave me a choice and I chose to have my gallbladder removed. Also, I've had kidney stones for the past 2 1/2 years and didn't want more pain in my future. Plus the risks of gallstones in pregnancy. Do you think I made a smart decision to get surgery? My surgery is in 2 weeks. maybe- wow 100 gallstones. Yes I don't need that after going through pain from Kidney stones the past 2 years. I had a kidney stone that was 8mm and don't need gallstone problems in my future! MY GOD! LOL. Stefanie M- That is so painful to have not been able to be there for your newborn. After my C-section with my son I had to go to the ER cuz of slight infection and cried my eyes out all the way to the ER just cuz I was leaving my newborn all night long.

gallbladder surgery problems? I had gallbladder sugery two months ago, about every two weeks I get extreme nausea and diareaha. I am told it will go away, has anyone had those symptoms and then they went away and how long did it take?
post gallbladder surgery? I had my gallbladder removed 3 1/2 weeks ago, yesterday i started feeling extremly hungry. I don't have n e other symptoms just hungry. Is this normal?
Can gallbladder like symptoms be caused by muscle strain? For five months I've been having RUQ pain that comes and goes, sometimes related to food, sometimes seemingly more related to posture or sports. I've had ct, ultrasound, upper endoscopy, all negative for gallstones or sludge. I guess it could be gallbladder diskynesia, but I haven't had a HIDA scan yet. I've had IBS for 8 years so it could be related. I get nauseated with fatty foods. I was never really awaken by pain at night, but often had pain when going to bed or waking up. Also often pain two hours after a meal. I always feel better on weekends when moving around and not sitting at a computer desk. I also feel better when I don't think about it... Today I've had the worst pains ever brought on by stretching my arms up and back. I also noticed the yoga cobra pose was bringing some amount of pain regularly. I'm trying to figure out a way to fix this without a gallbladder cleanse or a surgery... Could stress bring all of that? I've had a lot of life changing events this year.
Gallbladder? How do you know if your gallbladder needs to be removed? What are the symptoms, and how often is this surgery performed?
ANYONE HERE have to have their gallbladder removed shortly after or a year or more after childbirth???? I had to have my gallbladder removed three weeks after I had delivered my son, via c-section. Actually December 6th will make a full year since I have had my gallbladder out, Now I don't know what your symptoms were of the gallbladder being bad but mine were horrible and would take my breath away and cause constant vomiting, well I don't have the constant vomiting any longer but I do still have the pains in my chest, and they are knee buckling and take my breath away still, they don't happen as often but they do happen some weeks I don't feel anything and then some other weeks I am getting the pains more than once a day, So my question to you who have had your gallbladder removed, is it normal to still have symptoms after a year of it being removed, I have been getting mixed answers from my doctor and the hospital where they performed the surgery. **SERIOUS ANSWERS ONLY** thanks in advance for your help~!!!! Yeah I do know about the greasy foods going right through you that is why I have been refraining from as much greasy foods as possible, My gallbladder started to go bad in my 7th or 8th month of pregnancy and wasn't detected by my doc until three weeks after the birth of my son. I just don't know what is causing me to still have these pains almost a year afterwards
Should I get a second opinion on my gallbladder? I went to my doctor for some pains I was feeling in my upper abdomen, right under my bra. My doctor did an ultrasound and the results came back just fine. Then I had a nuclear medicine scan and I guess this showed that my gallbladder was not functioning. Now I have an appointment to meet with a surgeon. Should I see someone else before I jump right into the surgery? I hear that gallbladder trouble is common with women my age (23) and most of the symptoms that I have read on the internet seem to agree that this is what my problem is.
Anyone have problems with alcohol after gallbladder removal? I had my gallbladder removed 2 months ago. The surgery went very well, and I haven't had any problems until now. For the past few days I've had problems after eating. After eating (sometimes before finishing) I feel the urge to have to use the bathroom. I have had to on a few occasions (I don't have diarreah). I also have gas and gas pains, some hearburn, and sometimes I feel dizzy, shaky, anxious, and I've had the chills a few times. A few hours after eating, I feel just fine. All of these symptoms are similar to what I had before my gallbladder was removed. Like I had stated above, I've never had any problems until the other day. I noticed that this all started happening the day after I had gone out and drank a lot of alcohol. I was just wondering if anyone has experienced this before. The first day, I had attributed all of this to having a hangover, but hangovers don't last for days. Has anyone else had this happen to them?
CAN ANYONE HELP? After one year symptoms still exist. Debilitating nausea. She wants to be a chef!? My daughter turns 18 in February ’07. She went to a pediatric gastroenterologist last year. No luck with the doctor. No regular “G-E” will see her until she is 18. After living with her for a year in this condition and hearing others with similar problems strongly feel her problem is the gallbladder. However, no doctor will remove it if tests do not verify it as the problem. One year later -no results from tests listed below or even a surgery to open a stenosed bile duct. We are looking for further options. Symptoms began 8/5/05 Pain/nausea -- central inferior to xyphoid. No complaint of heartburn. No reflux. No pain into the chest cavity. Nausea can be at any time over 24 hours. Often wakes up nauseated. Fat and protein seem to exacerbate symptoms. She has eliminated meat, dairy, eggs, fish, nuts, citric fruits. She is trying hard to maintain balance and fortunately has stabilized her weight. Tried OTC Tums, Malox, Pepcid, Gas X, Phazyme. Saw pediatric gastroenterologist. Diagnosed with IBS and tried the following remedies with no results: Prescriptions—Nulev, Donatol, Reglan. Ultrasound - showed dilated bile duct. Hydascan – negative. ERCP 1/06/06 – found stenosed bile duct. Surgery opened it,no stent used. Follow up: Ultrasound, Barium swallow with small bowel follow through, Blood work for celiac sprue, All enzyme levels normal, Lipase had been slightly elevated prior to ERCP. After one year symptoms still exist. Debilitating nausea. CAN ANYONE HELP? She wants to be a chef!
Question about gallbladder removal post-op symptoms? My mom just had her gallbladder lapriscopically removed tues. The doc said to call if she runs a fever over 101 or has excessive drainage. She hasn't had either BUT she has been having alot of hiccups and her abdomen has been kinda swollen. Tonight after eating some veggie soup she said she felt like the swelling had gotten a little worse. She has also been having gallbladder-like pains now and then, tho I've read that this is sometimes normal? I was just wondering if this is all pretty normal after surgery? Oh...and for anyone who feels the need to say "see a doctor" YES we plan on calling tomorrow...but for tonight since its not an emergency situation at this time....I just thought I would ask around here till we can call doc in the AM. Thanks!
Bleeding from navel after keyhole surgery? Hiya, OK last April I had keyhole surgery to remove my gallbladder and just before christmas I started having problems. Basically I have a pretty much constant discharge from my belly button, which when I wake in the morning is a yellow gunk. I try to leave it alone as much as possible except to dry it but on several occasions if I messed around to much there's fresh blood. Now I'm seeing a doctor again for the 5TH time next week. I've already been on 3 courses of antibiotics because streptacoccus was found on a swab, but the discharge won't go away. I've seen 2 different doctors, the first one was pretty useless ( I saw this guy 3 times) and the second doctor was alot nicer but was reluctant to refer me back to the hospital because "it can bring it's own problems". Basically I want to know if anyone has had a similar experience what the problem actually was or if anyone else has any ideas cos I'm fed up with this now. I have a feeling the infections are a symptom of something else.
Have you had your gallbladder removed?? I am having gallbladder surgery soon and I would like to know what you experienced after the surgery? Were you able to eat normal foods, or did you need to change your diet? Any other symptoms after it was removed? I am going on vacation 2 weeks after my surgery and I want to be well aware of what I might experience or what I might need to do differently after it is removed. I am hoping for a fun vacation...I don't want to have to worry about getting sick! Any information will be much appreciated! Thanks!
Strange symptoms? My doctor is stumped. Symptoms lasted now for 2 years and ended up having gallbladder surgery because of them. Pathology report stated a very healthy gall bladder. Dr does not know. Here they are: pressure inbetween shoulder blades, maybe off to the left a little. Never pain, but a sensation that I cannot take a deep breath...but I always can. A terrible full feeling off and on, not related to meals. IBS was thought but then dismissed after two image tests. X-ray showed 4 lung nodules size of peas or smaller and continue to have CT scans which show they are not calcified. Once, two years ago had a "spasm type attack" felt like it was in my back, between shoulder blades (same place I feel pressure) and it would spasm--terribly painful. Nearly fainted. Was sweating and could not breath well during it. But DUMB ME did not go to the ER. Just saw dr few days later. It lasted about 3 hours off and on. Never happened again. Please, any idea's? PS..age 36, female, 7 kids. also...had heart ultrasound which was normal.
gallstone in the gallbladder neck? I had two episode (vomit not pain) more than 2 years ago, in between half a year, then did ultrasound and see a stone in the gallbladder neck. Since then I changed diet, and it been perfect fine, no symptoms at all. A recent ultrasound see the stone still there, and gallbladder measures 9 by 4.5cm. I am not sure if I should go for surgery. My dr said if the stone completely blocks the neck then I should get pain. As long as I have no symptom I don't need to go surgery. I guess maybe it's because my bladder does not contract anymore (by size it's bigger than normal, but I have no idea what it was before), that's why I don't feel pain? Since it's been 2 years silent like this, I wonder how long it can be like this before pain starts, or will some serious things can happen? I try to avoid surgery as much as I can, not sure if I can use this silent time to try some nature remedies or alternative medicines. Will the stone become float again? thanks.
sharp pain after gallbladder removed? I had my gallbladder removed last thursday, then on sunday, i start having sharp pain on my right side (above waist but below the ribs). It is constant but it hurts more when walking. The nurse told me it’s normal and it will go away but I’m skeptical because I didn’t get the pain until Sunday. Plus I’ve been searching online and it seems to be a symptom of SOD. I'm just worried and want to find out if anybody out there experiencing the same thing. It's been a week now since my surgery.
Is this normal with gallbladder?? Hi, I'm a female of 5ft 8" and 15st. I am due to go and have my gallbladder removed via keyhole surgery on the 18th. Now since this flared up in May of this year, I have been having terrible pain in my lower back spreading down through my coxix and behind my right thigh. I was wondering if this is normal with gallbladder problems as it can be so uncomfortable that i cannot bend over to pick things up, even form the coffee table. I have to do it by manipultaing myself into all sorts of positions! Now I realise I am overweight for my height, but 2 years ago I maxed out at 19 1/2 stones and was also wondering if it could be for the fact my back had to be put under so much strain that now I have lost that 4 stone - the muscles may be weak??? Any advice re the surgery and symptoms would be greatly appreciated as I am v nervous. Also from anyone who has the surgery - How did it go? Many thanks
gallbladder question? so im a healthy 24 year old female, i saw my doctor today b/c ive been having nausea and lightheadedness when i wake up in the morning, she took blood and wanted to test my gallbladder.. if this test comes back positive, what does it mean? do i have gallbladder disease? gall stones? gallbladder symptoms? im confused and dont really understand it, and what happens next? surgery or medicine?
Who's had gallbladder problems? So my sister has some gallstones in her gallbladder. It's hurting her but luckily today, after drinking some flaxseed tea, she's felt better than the worst days before. Also her diet is very limited due to fear. So who has had their gallbladder remove and what symptoms are you gone through? Also, if anyone has not gone through the surgery, how are you treating the gallstone problem? I really don't want my sister to go through the surgery because her gallbladder is not infected, its just stones. Before this, her diet was not good (fast food a lot) so I thought if she might flush out her stones and start fresh with a healthier diet if that could go well too. Thanks for your input!
Are gallstone cleanses effective and just as effective as gallbladder removal? Upon getting Jaundice I went to the hospital to discover that I had gallstones blocking my ducts. I had a procedure to remove the stones today, and in just a few hours in the morning I'm scheduled for surgery to have my gallbladder completely removed. All nightI have been researching alternatives. While alot of people did not have complications with gallbladder removal, what if I'm one of the percentage who do have complications, or still experience the same symptoms even after the gallbladder is removed? I've also heard that removing the gallbladder puts strain on your other organs. Is this true? I really don't know what to do, need some opinions. I've researched some gallstone cleanses, I may ask if I can delay the surgery so that I can try those methods first. Has anyone done gallstone cleansing? Is just as effective as having the gallbladder removed? Have you tried any cleanses that worked for you? Thanks. :) I'm 18 years old.
I have been having some symptoms this past month or two that puzzle me.? 1. Nausea before meals 2. Pain in chest sometimes, and pain in upper abdomen often, especially after eating 3. Bloody stool (mostly bright blood, which I assume is hemmorhoids), occasionally with pain (especially if constipated). The only thing different lately, is that I had gallbladder removal last November (6 months ago), and was put on a water pill this year for gyn issues. My diet hasn't really changed much, other than we have been eating less starch and fruit, and more protein and vegetables. I am overweight, but was losing weight through better diet and more activity, and my blood pressure and all bloodwork has been fine. I also have acid reflux, have had it for many years, for which I now take Omeprazole (I think that's generic for Prilosec) by prescription. Anyone have these problems after gallbladder surgery? I know I should go see the doctor, but I get tired of the merry-go-round of doctors and would rather solve this naturally, if it's not much of anything. That makes sense, because we have ate a lot of dairy (lowfat and regular) since discovering the local healthy dairy...and I love cheese and yogurt. Hmmm. I need to make an appt. with my doc I guess to rule out everything else. Keep answering, all, I'll keep the options open here.
Does "gallbladder disease" affect my baby (fetus) in any way? I started having pains and symptoms associated with gallbladder problems so my CNM had a liver function test (blood work) done and an ultrasound. They did find something on the ultrasound apparently (not sure if it's just enlarged or if there are stones) and diagnosed me with "gallbladder disease" (which means anything wrong with my gallbladder apparently). My questions are: -Have you had gallbladder problems during pregnancy? What was your experience? -Does this affect my baby in any way? -I've read that in some cases the problems get better after giving birth...? -I want to do whatever I can to avoid surgery - what are some things that may help? Most importantly I just want to make sure that my baby is and will be ok... Obviously, when I'm able to speak with my CNM I will discuss these things with her and go from there but I just wanted some opinions and to hear from anyone who has had this happen. I am 25 weeks w/ 1st. Never had issues before pregnancy. Thanks!
gallbladder disease? ok i had my gallbladder removed 15 months ago after i had my little girl. for those of you who have had to have it removed you know what kind of pain it causes. now my question is that even though i had it removed sometimes i still have the pains like i had before it was removed i was wondering if this is a type of "phantom limb" or if it could be anxiety attackes or should i go to another doc to see if it was all taking out. also i have pics that they took during surgery and i dont see any of the gallbladder still there so im leaning towards anxiety attacks but i just wanted to know if anyone else has had these symptoms after having their gallbladder removed thanks ok so what is GERD?...lol
Gallbladder problems? Ok I went to the doctor with all the symptoms of gallstones or gallbladder problems. The doctor told me that I had to get a surgery but he needed to do a ultrasound. He was so sure that it was gallstones! I had the ultrasound done and he called me today and he told me that EVERYTHING IS NORMAL! no gallstones and my gallbladder looks perfect. He wants me to do a EGD, and I will but... What can it be then? I had the upper stomach pain after food, diahrrea, everything! Some ideas?
To those who have had their gallbladder removed...? My boyfriend had his gallbladder removed almost 2 weeks ago. He still has the pain and heartburn that he had prior. Will this lighten up? He is losing weight now too. He weighed about 205 for a long time at 6'5" tall. He had to watch what he ate and he weighed 199 on the day of the surgery. He weighed himself the other day and he weighed 196 with his shoes on. Someone told him that their dad had the same symptoms and had pancreatic cancer and died after 8 months of being diagnosed. He lost weight and had pain in his stomach. I told him that since he is watching what he eats, it might because he isn't eating the same things. He also lost a couple of pounds from losing the gallbladder and stones. He sees his surgeon next week and will probably ask him about the pancreatic stuff versus gallbladder. Did you have the same symptoms? Did you lose weight after the surgery? Did you still have pain and heartburn? Your kind answers and prayers will be appreciated. Thank you for answering my question and reading my story. No, he doesn't have a temp and he is able to eat and keep things down. He just has a pain in the middle of his stomach and heartburn and the weight loss.
What have you changed since having your gallbladder removed? diet? supplements? Could use some advice please.? Can anyone offer any advice on what I should be doing to start feeling good (health wise) after having had my gallbladder removed. I had it removed in 2004 and since getting it removed I've had digestive issues. I usually start to feel lousy, just really drained and I'll get headaches about 30 minutes to an hour or two after eating and it doesn't matter what I eat either. I could have pizza or just a salad and I'll get the same symptoms afterwards. I saw my doctor 2 weeks after my surgery for the post surgery checkup and he told me those symptoms would get better with time but it's been almost 3 whole years since my surgery and I don't think they're going away anytime soon. I don't feel them getting worse which is good, but I just don't feel well after I eat. Is there any advice anyone can offer on what I can do to help alleviate these symptoms after eating? Is there something I should be taking or a special diet I should be on. Doc's no help and I'm miserable. :(
Asking again about these symptoms.....? Still not much better from earlier. I don't have an appendix, or my gallbladder. Gastric Bypass surgery years ago and a tubal pregancy. Pain in my right lower abdominal area, especially when i stand or walk. I am really thinking of going to the Dr now, even though i cant afford it, but am scared that it may just be constipation. I have only hurt like this once before and it was a tubal pregnancy, but I just started my period, although it was late and it is now gone. Could this still be a tubal? Will I look stupid if this is just constipation, or do you think it could be an obstruction? Help!
Can gallstones form in bile ducts? I had my gallbladder removed four years ago, along with the stones inside it. I am now experiencing the same symptoms I had before the surgery. So, I'm wondering if the stones can form in the ducts around where the gallbladder used to be.
Symptoms of liver disease So while trying to undestand why i have been losing my appetite i run across an answer that brings me here. i have searched the symtpons pages but only am experiencing a few. Loss of appitite is 1, Fatige is 2, dark urine, evry now and again is 3 and i think i read somewhere about loss of sleep. I just assumed all these things were becuase i started working nights, but its been over a year, i think i should be used to it by now. normally i would not jump to conclusions, but as we speak my older sister is in the hopspital, started out with some pain, gallbladder stones, they found more and for somereason thought she may have hepatitis, so they tested and nothing, underwent a big surgery and has been in the hospital for three weaks now. ADVICE, im not really experiencing pain, but i do have those other symptoms.
my wife has had her gallbladder out but is still experiencing a lot of pain, what could be wrong ? She had symtoms of gallbladder problems (pain in right side, bloated, headaches and burping) they did all the tests but couldnt see stones or anything wrong with it, but eventually they said one test had shown it wasnt working properly.) They took it out by keyhole surgery in october, she was sore for a couple of months, but the symtoms had gone. The other day she started getting exactly the same symptoms, but the pain was worse if anything. Since then she has had a chest x ray , a scan which didnt show anything apart from gas on her right side, her white blood cell count is up, and she started to go hot and cold but only in the last couple of days. She has been bad for 5 days now, the doctors dont know what it is.They only put her on antibiotics yesterday. A friend suggested it could be IBS is that possible ? Could it be her appendix Has anyone got any ideas ? I read about some people who had gallbladder symtoms after having it out, but I havent read of it lasting this long she has also been constipated recently (may be due to drugs?) she has also been constipated recently (may be due to drugs?)
IBS Gallbladder Removal.? I'm trying to learn and understand the Gallbladder, I know its basic functions but I'm more interested in how it becomes dysfunctional or causes the symptoms of IBS. I'd also like to know what the risks are of removing it, and if removing it does in fact stop the IBS symptoms. I'm having an Iodine test run through me on a scan to check my gallbladder, but he is positive mine is dysfunctional, which would mean surgery. I'm tired, I'm digging for info but anything someone can offer me to help would be greatly appreciated. - ames
Right side chest pain? I had my gallbladder removed (Band-aid surgery) last Friday. Prior to that I was having random bouts of intense nausea and excruciating pain in my upper right quadrant. Hida Scan showed ejection fraction of 5%. Surgery seemed to go well. I went home the same day and back to work Tuesday. Starting yesterday though, I have pain on the right side of my chest. Not my abdomen where it hurt before but higher up. I thought it might still be some of the gas they used but it seems to be getting worse. Burping actually makes it hurt worse for a few seconds. Deep breaths also are painful. I still have some gallbladder symptoms; pain between shoulder blades, a bit of nausea, etc. but I expected that until I am fully healed from the surgery. I am 28 years old, female, and in otherwise good health. One last thing maybe worth mentioning, I was up coughing all night last night but had no previous cold symptoms. Could all this be related to the surgery or do I maybe have something viral going on as well? Any thoughts are appreciated.
Laparoscopic Cholestectomy (gallbladder removal)? I am a 20 year old female and I am having a laparoscopic cholestectomy next week. I am nervous and excited at the same time. I have been suffering for over a year and was misdiagnosed and had numerous tests before finally finding out that my gallbladder is not functioning properly. I do not have stones, my gallbladder just doesn't function properly. I have read so many bad things on the internet and was looking for some positive stories. Also, if anyone has the same condition or has had the surgery, anything reassuring would be great. Please nothing negative, I've read enough of that and scared myself. I already know what the gallbladder does and what's wrong with mine. I know I have to stay overnight in the hospital and I know they cannot guarantee that it will fix the problem, but I was told it is medically necessary and not a choice. I can put it off, put the symptoms are unbearable most of the time and I miss school and work a lot because of them. I know things can go wrong and had to sign forms acknowledging that. Please give me some positive feedback! Thank you in advance!
I had my gallbladder out 3 months ago but now i am having pain again? I had a few complications wich was the main reason for open surgery (leaving me with a 12" scar) was that i have multipal addheasons internally and there were organs that needed to be seperated for the Drs to remove the gallbladder safely. through the past few weeks i have been getting uper right quadrant pain very simular to that of an attack along with feeling nausiated. I have been to the A and E of the hospital they performed a battery of blood test that all appeared to be normal .. then did a chest x-ray telling me that i need to see the gp to have a follow up scan and maybe a few other test as they are concerned that i may have a bit of 'sludge' , or adheasons developing wich both present with the same symptoms. has any one else had these and how are they treated as i dont want another stay in Hospital as this last surgery with all the complications i was there for 7 days. instead of the overnight stay.
Heart palapitations? I have been ill for almost a month. I have seen different Dr.'s and on Wednesday I am seeing a surgeon because they believe the pain and vomiting stems from scar tissue from my gallbladder surgery back in 1995. What concerns me is in the last week and a half I have developed serious heart palapitations. I was diagnosed back in 2000 w/a leaky heart valve. Can any of this be tied together. Other symptoms, vomiting, dizziness, cold sweats, and pain in my chest. I'm only 32.
can you get genital herpes from something other than sex? I recently had surgery and now I have ulcers? I recently had my gallbladder and endometriosis removed surgically. I have had the same boyfriend for over 2 years and he would never go behind my back. This does not make any sense. My gyno did a test but I have to wait forever for the test results? I have 2 ulcers I think and they are very painful. I really don't have the herpes symptoms, but I have the ulcers- so I'm confused. Any ideas? Does anyone else feel like this upon waking in the morning? Most days I wake up w/ headaches and / or nausea.? I don't know why I feel this upon waking. Sometimes it goes away within an hour or so, but most days it lasts the whole day. I've already seen a doctor about this. He ran some blood tests and checked my thyroid and everything came back normal. I started feeling like this around the year 2000 when I started having digestive and gallbladder issues. I had to have my gallbladder removed in 2004 in an emergency surgery. I was very sick with bad gallbladder pains when I went to the ER & found out that my white blood cell count was really high & that my gallbladder had to be removed due to infection. I immediately started to feel better after the surgery and felt good a month after but then I started waking with the headaches I was talking about and feeling nauseaus. The only thing I can think of that could have anything to do with these symptoms is that I continue to have digestive issues. I brought up those issues at my docs apptmt. but he said digestive issues would not cause headaches.
need advice although i realize most of you wont be medical doctors.my daughter is 23 and has hashimotos, recent recently she was told she has gallstones and two gastros advised removing gallbladder.she has no symptoms and there is no blockage ,but doctors got her nervous about not having surgery...anyone out there with similar situation my daughter starts law school in aug and she feels it would be better just to yank it out..as her father i do have reservations i feel if its not bothering her at this time wait and see,but she is afraid now to eat anything or enjoy herself for fear of causing problem..thanks for any advice
Right sided pelvic pain post ovary removal and tube-ligation? In 2003 I had 2 cysts' on my right ovary and had my right ovary removed. Prior to that after my 3rd pregnancy I had my tubes tied. Since then, most of my periods are painful on the right side of my pelvic area. I also just recently had my gallbladder removed for pain in the upper right quadrant of my abdomin. The pain prior to that surgery is also still there. Now I have pain in the pelvic area again on the right side even if I'm not on my period. I have a lot of bloating of the stomach most of the time. I was told years ago that I have IBS, but this feels different from that. Could this be something serious, or could it be as simple as scar tissue? I worry about endometriosis and even cancer. Looking for someone with similar symptoms and what it may be caused by. Unfortanely I have not had an exam in a while and have just made an appointment for this. Any ideas???
why would the surgeons want to prolong her agony and slow death? my mother is 55 years old and for the past 12+ years she has been complaining of all the symptoms of bilary duct disease. it has only been recently that they have diagnose her with that. every time she had an attack they never knew what was wrong. now that they know she meets all the criteria for having her gallbladder removed but the surgeon who examined her said she does not present with jaundice so he feels she should wait. the problem with that is she cant keep any food down and is consistently loosing weight. she is just over 5 feet tall and weighs approx. 110 lbs. this question is for any medical proffesionals.. is it standard to wait until the patient has jaundice? at that point it may be too late and once jaundice is present with all the other severe symptoms her organs may fail and she may die. she is a veteran at the VA hosp. in texas. how can we (the family) get them to perform the surgery NOW before it is too late.
Re: Is there a Doctor in the house? I have been having a rough year. New Years’ Day I went to the ER and was told I had an acute appendicitis and needed surgery. I had a reaction to the succincholine and spent 12hrs. on a respirator in ICU. I was told I could not metabolize it and it had to wear off. After all the meds wear off I was still hurting, but with a dull pain in my URQ. After months of pain and it getting worse by the week, I had a MRI, blood work, an ultrasound an endoscopy, the nuclear test, and a colonoscopy all came back normal. The surgeon who done my appendectomy said that with my symptoms it sounded like my gallbladder even though all test showed normal. The surgeon and I decided on surgery in May. That surgery went well every thing was okay (gallbladder had scar tissue all over it from my kids using it as a football when I was preg.) and no more pain except the pain on my ULQ which only comes when it is time for my period (did not have until after Jan.). Also after Jan. my period went from messed up (I am anemic and have high blood pressure) to a major mess. I started having it four 14 days with palm size clots. Being anemic (iron anemia) I know about being tired, but I have been very tired to the point were I can get wore out talking, get hoarse, have trouble breathing, and heart palpitations; they go away with rest. To help with my period my Doc. put me on birth control pills for three months in June which helped part of it. I do not have the heart palpitations as much as before but I still get fatigued easy, my period last for 6 to 11 days, I can not exercise because I get cramps all over and stay fatigued for a couple of days afterward. And 3 weeks after I was put on birth control my ribcage on my right side started sticking out. When I lay down I can put my left hand on my left side and go across and touch the bottom part of my ribs on the right side. I also have pain and pressure under my ribs. I have been given 2 blood work ups and a CT scan all normal. I have been treated for acid reflux and muscle inflammation with no results. Last yr. I could do 400 crunches, 60 mens pu's, curl 25 pounds 80 times, swim a 1/2 mi. and out walk a teen with ADHD who did not take his meds for over a week. I am on a low fat and low sodium (I do not like salt) diet, also I do not eat a lot of sugar. Any ideas.
Things to expect following Gall bladder removal.? Had gallbladder removed just before xmas and at first felt really great. A polyp necessitated surgery and apparently my gallbladder was very inflamed. Had laperascopic proceedure. I am finding that I have to run to the loo very soon after eating and do not really appear to be digesting food properly. I have indegestion too. I just feel really tired and worse than before op. I was not experiencing symptoms just pain in my left side which diserpeared after surgery which is strange as I was told the pain had nothing to do with gall bladder? Have pain now on right side of upper part of chest and just feel rather nauseous. Is this normal after recent surgery to remove gall bladder?
Is it safe for me to drink coffee everyday (1 or 2 cups) if I suffer from stomach problems? I like drinking coffee everyday, at least 1 cup in the morning but sometimes 2. I don't know if I should keep drinking it so often or if at all tho since I've been suffering from digestive issues for years now. In 2004 I had to have my gallbladder removed due to frequent gallbladder pains I was getting. Now since the surgery I've had symptoms typical of IBS (constipation and diahrreah however your spell it) but mostly constipation. Do you think it would be ok to keep drinking coffee daily (I feel I need it for the energy plus I love the taste of it) or should I stop until I can see a gastroenterologist for my digestive issues? O and just wanted to add I used to drink regular Folgers but now I drink the Simply Smooth kind since the regular kind was giving me sever heartburn.
Need more answers? I stopped bc about 9 days ago so i could have a period since depo made me go without one for almost a year..from one shot. I bled good for about 3 days then stopped. Had surgery in oct. on gallbladder and its healed. my stomach is tender to the touch and I feel bloated like every other day to where i can't even suck in my stomach. I've always had fatigue so thats not any new symptom. my nausea was supposedly from gallbladder but it hasn't gone away. i never had tender boobs from pregnancy. Besides the obvious take a test and see a doctor, what do you think my problem could be? pregnancy or some health issue?
I think I have depersonalization disorder?? I started noticing it when I was pre-teen, like 10 or 11, I knew everything was real and that it was happening but I didn't feel like I was experiencing it like I used to. I felt like it was a dream I had no control over, even though I knew I could control my actions I didn't feel like I could. This slowly progressed to get worse, some days I would wake up and know that this thing just got spontaneously worse, and then I would give myself an anxiety attack over it. The worsening of my symptoms usually but not always coincided with me being sick or taking antibiotics. Last summer I had surgery to remove my gallbladder due to gallstones (rare since I was 13 at the time and not obese) and was prescribed vicodin afterwards. Ever since finishing the vicodin and laying around the house for month worrying about healing I've gotten immensely worse in some aspects of it, but more used to the others. For example I now feel like I am in a heavy and deep fog, but more used to the fact that I don't feel many emotions anymore and hardly ever get excited. I really want to be happy or sad again, I never feel anything. I really want to come out of the fog and enjoy my life, I feel like part of it's been taken because I never can enjoy myself like this. Every now and then I feel these intense bursts of euphoria, usually when listening to music, but sometimes just randomly. Am I just suffering from depersonalization disorder or am I slowly loosing my insanity and become schizophrenic or paranoid? I went to my Grandpa's funeral recently and didn't feel anything. We were extremely close. I saw him lying in the open casket and it was like it didn't matter because that wasn't him and I wasn't me, sort of like when I look in the mirror. I never cried once during that experience because it was so unreal, I can't envision myself crying over anything anymore. I can't see myself being happy either. I just want to feel something, anything. I used to be really anxious when I was a kid over nothing and have read that anxiety can sometimes cause depersonalization disorder.
This may sound like an extremely stupid question but..? Okay so I found out on Tuesday that I have mono. I started feeling the symptoms about 10 days ago, and now I'm out of the "sick" part, like my throat doesn't hurt anymore or anything. But obviously I'm still really tired and weak and everything. Well, I'm going to have to have surgery soon on my gallbladder. But since I have mono, does that mean I'm going to have to wait until I'm completely over it to have the surgery? And if so, how long would that be? I know I need to talk with my surgeon, I have an appointment with him on Tuesday, but I'm just an impatient person and wasn't sure if anyone on here knew better than me..
pain in side? My mother has been having unbearable pain in side for months along with diahrea (esp ehen she eats). She has had 2 surgeries: one to her gallbladder out & months later took out an ulcer that formed, her appendix, cut loose scar tissue but symptoms keep returning. Any ideals?
How long does it take to get back to normal following gallbadder removal? I had my Gallbladder removed laparoscopically 1/16/08. I am having bad tearing pain just left of my belly button and continuing to have the bothersome symptoms that sent me to the Dr. originally. I never had much pain from the gallbladder, just some uncomfortableness. The real problems were bloating (which seems to be worse), lots of belching and gas. I'm told that it takes the body a while to realize that the gallbaldder is not there anymore and for these symptoms to subside. It has been a month, should I still be having these uncomfortable, embarassing sympyoms? What about the tearing pain? What is it and how long should I expect it to continue? Also, I have gained 5 pounds since the surgery and continue to have irregular BMs.
Liver pain, bile taste in mouth? I just need some direction. I have had gall bladder removed for these symptoms 2 years ago and it did not help. Now? Its worse. Liver pain (or pain in liver area), nausea when I have bile taste in mouth (comes and goes) dizziness (seen an ear specialist for but came to no conclusion except excess ear fluid). I also am only 36 but my cycle is getting further apart and less in duration. I googled my symptoms "Liver pain and bile taste in mouth" and found tons of Chinese (I think) herbal sites talking about "Qi" which I do not understand. Does anyone have any recommendations? When I had my gallbladder removed, I was diagnosed with fatty liver disease and my liver enzymes were elevated prior to surgery but that's about it. I do not drink but do struggle with weight on and off. Any thoughts or helpful advice would be appreciated. I did begin taking Milk Thistle as I read it helps clean the liver out and I also have an appointment with my physician early next week. Just looking to see if anyone has had similar symptoms and ahd have received diagnosis or if anyone knows of a way to get rid of bile taste and liver pain (pain meds do not work).
Gallstones? I was semi-diagnosed this past Friday with gallstones. I have an appointment this coming Thursday with a gastroenterologist to have an ultrasound of my gallbladder. I've done some research, and am finding conflicting information as to the symptoms of gallstones. One site says one thing, one site says another. Anyone out there who suffers with biliary colic? Does it actually cause belching, passing gas, indigstion-like feelings, abdominal bloating or not? I'm just curious, as this is what I'm having. Wish my appt. with the gastro. was sooner, but it's not. :( Any advise/references are greatly welcome. Thanks! P.S. If you did have gallstones, what was your outcome? (Surgery, drugs to dissolve them, etc.)
Abdominal pain? This is the fourth time for about a month now I have a really bad abdominal pain. It's located in my upper middle abdomen. So bad I can't handle pain. The weirdest part about it all is that when i stand it is at it's worst. I sit or lay down, the pain is still there but not much. I don't get it, any clue? Here's a bit of background. Out of the 4 times I have had this pain i have also noticed that it worsens when standing. This is the first time that I have noticed it is after a meal, not sure about the other times. I have had many surgeries done 2 for lower cancer onn my abdominal wall. 3 C-sections, I have also had Gallstones and Gallbladder removed. I also suffer with GERD, so i know the difference of pains. I do not have any other symptoms that go along with this, ex:no fever...no urination pain...nothing but the pain Please help if you have had similar experience or maybe have a bit of a clue of what it could be. THX

I have gallstones - what to expect? Lately I've been off and on having pains and nausea and I just got back from a sonogram confirming I have gallstones. The tech was not a doctor so couldn't give me a general outlook. (To see a Dr about this I will apparently have to wait 7-10 days or longer.) She did say they didn't look enormous or appear to be about to break up. There were about 10 taking up about 1/3 of my gb, it appeared to me. I've read that gallstones with no symptoms are not uncommon and these don't require treatment. Since my symptoms seem largely controllable (small meals, avoid fatty foods) do you think it's likely I'll have to have the surgery anyway? I've been feeling badly this week and occassionally have symptoms once a month, but perhaps this is just a bad week? My sister, aunt and grandmother have all had their gallbladders removed so I'm prepared for that eventuality. Thanks in advance for your answers, it's annoying having to wait in suspense for nearly 2 weeks.
