Weight Loss After Gallbladder Surgery Knowledge Base

Will I have weight loss or weight gain after gallbladder surgery?? So my dr. said that I may have some weight loss after I have my gallbaldder removed, but the more websites I visit, the more people seem to be reporting MASSIVE weight gain. Are these people just eating too much and blaming it on the surgery?? Or is this common? Any body have any personal experience with this?
Losing weight after gallbladder removal? Hi all, I know I have asked several questions about Gallbladder subject but I still am interested in how it affects your life after you have had it removed. My next question is about weight loss, I have lost about 2kg since I had my gallbladder removed which is not alot of weight, I am eating okay and the sickness feeling comes and goes now, as before it was there alot of the time. I also have quite healthy stools as before this I would quite often have diahorea, so all seems fine and I am living my new life in a new country with my wife of three months. Is it normal to lose a small amount of weight after this surgery? I eat regular times and although they are not big meals they are healthy ones, sometimes I have the occasional fatty meal but on the whole I eat quite healthy. Has anyone else found although they are eating okay they have lost a few kilograms?
How much does laproscopic gallbladder surgery cost? After pregnancy and weight loss I have stones and need it out. Surgery, one night hospital stay, what is going to be the total cost roundabout? Interested to know from people who have had this surgery how much it cost them I am insured but I have a $5000 deductible......
How will Gallbladder removal affect my weight loss? I recently had my Gallbladder removed due to significant and rapid weight loss. I sort of jumped into losing weight, and lost a lot of weight very quickly with diet and exercise. I found out about 6 months later after losing 85 pounds that I had obtained Gallstones. I then had to have it taken out through surgery and am now worried about my weight. I still have about 40-50 pounds I would like to take off, will having my Gallbladder removed help me or make this weight loss journey more difficult? Thank you!
I just had Gallbladder surgery- can I ever eat fatty foods again? I just had Gallbladder Surgery a week ago, and wanted to know if people who have had it (or doctors) can let me know about their experiences. I am young, got the Gallstones from weight loss/hormonal changes. I generally eat pretty healthy however I am in college, and it would be nice to have pizza every once in a while. How long after your surgery were you able to eat fatty/greasy foods without uncomfortable consequences? Can I ever "go to town" again? Thanks so much!
Gallbladder Surgery Question? For the past 2 months I have had severe stomach pains and attacks after eating, vomiting, weight loss, etc. My doctors finally came to the conclusion after some testing and an ultrasound that I need to have my gallbladder removed. I am having surgery next week and for about a week the symptoms subsided and now I am having severe abdominal discomfort. I am just wondering and wanting to hear about those who have had the same situation and surgery done as to what you went through before and after surgery. I appreciate serious answers only. Thank You!
Acute Gallbladder Disease - Exhausted all the time, swollen lymph nodes in neck, joint pain, weight loss? I spent a week in the hospital diagnosed with acute cholysistitis (sic), pancreatitis. My WBC was high and I had a fever of 104. Very sick. They said they could not remove my gallbladder as I was too sick (inflamation in liver as well) I have to wait 3 months! In the meatime I am exhausted, have lost 34lbs in 5 weeks, cannot eat anything other than vegetables, fruit and rice, potatoe. NO fat or meat or dairy. My LFT are high and the surgeon said they could not do a laparascopy and would do an open surgery (full cut) which is riskier - infection so I needed to be healthier. But why do I feel sooo sick if only my gallbladder is the issue? I also feel dizzy and unsteady at times but the fatigue is out of this world. Anyone out there gone through this or can offer some insight - I am to "manage the pain" fever, nausea and fatigue until surgery. How come other people get it removed right away?? confused..thanks
Should I do a Liver Cleanse if my Gallbladder has been removed? I read a book and I think my stalled weight loss despite Lap Band surgery, low calorie, lots of exercise and small portions could be due to fatty liver. Want to cleanse it. Have read Fat Flush diet and Ultra Metabolism. Don't want to get sick though. Can I do a cleanse if I have no gallbladder?
Weight Gain or Lose After Gallbladder Removal? I just got my gallbladder removed on Wednesday June 11, and everything went well. I am also 19 weeks pregnant, and the baby is doing great. I was wondering about weight issues after having gallbladder removal. I see some say gain, and some say loss........ but nothing I find is clear on the topic. My doctor told me after I get it removed to eat the way I did before I had it removed. I will, and plus I want to eat well for the rest of the pregnancy. I am still confused to the weight topic though. I heard someone tell me that she spends an hour and half each day working out, and eats healthy but she is still gaining. Why would that be? Why do people tend to gain weight afterwards? I will still ask my doctor when I go in for my post surgery check up which will be on the 23rd. Just curious. Thanks!
Life after gallbladder removal? I had my gallbladder removed yesterday after having many, many problems with it for the past 2 years. I feel fine today other than the soreness of the surgery (laparoscopic) I have resumed eating as normal, just not over doing it. I want to know what I can expect from now on. I have heard everything from rapid weight loss/gain to severe diarrhea. Can someone (preferably someone who has had this done) tell me what to expect now that I have my gallbladder removed? Thanks!
health issues requiring weight loss? i am 22 years old 6'5" and weigh 335 lbs.. i recently had my gallbladder removed.. my blood work prior to surgery revealed that my glucose levels were high. which my doctor told me could eventually lead to becoming diabetic and said that if i could lose at least 30 lbs i shouldnt have anything to worry about for a long time.. i was wondering what would be the best (and easiest) changes to my diet would be for best results? i live alone and im not a good cook so the less complicated the better. i also work a 12 hour shift at my job and it is really hard to always eat right when im forced to buy things out of the vending machines.. any advice would be appreciated.
Did the atkins diet cause my gallstones? My friend convinced me to try the atkins diet because she had lost some weight on it. I tried it for 2 months and lost weight but also developed gallstones and ended up needing gallbladder removal surgery. I quit the diet at that point thinking that the diet was to blame for it. My friend says no, that any time you lose alot of weight fast you can get gallstones. So she is trying to get me to try it again but I guess I am a little afraid of it now. Was the high protein and fat in the diet to blame for my gallstones or was the weight loss to blame?
Since my gallbladder removal a year and a half ago I have gained 30+ pounds.? I never had to watch what I ate before I had my GB attack that sent me to the hospital and immediately into surgery. Prior to the surgery I never had a weight problem and now even with diet and exercise I have been depressed by the lack of weight loss . Any suggestions?
I'm so confused.? Ok, so I had my gallbladder removed in 2005 and I never really thought about it before... but, does not having a gallbladder cause diarrhea? Also, does not having a gallbladder increase your chances of colon cancer b/c of the diarrhea? More importantly, does not having a gallbladder cause you to lose weight or gain weight. I've heard a lot of ppl say they gained weight aftger surgery, but I've also heard it should cause weight loss due to the fat not being absorbed as efficiently. So, my main ? is, will the fat not being absorbed cause weight loss or weight gain. The ppl who say it causes weight gain say b/c the fat is being stored instead of digested. Is that true? It makes more sense to me that it would cause weight loss b/c the fat just goes through you w/o being digested, and that is why you have diarrhea too. I've gained weight, but I'm positive it is b/c of poor diet and exercise... I'm doing something about that now and I've lost 60lbs so far :)...
