Has anyone had a rhinoplasty procedure done to them? I'm contemplating getting a nose-job and I've researched a little online about what to expect, but I want an opinion from someone who has gone through with the operation. I'm scared about some of the complications that can arise and about undergoing a surgery that I only need pyscologically. I'm really just wondering if all of it was worth the risk and the impact that it will have. Medical reasons for a rhinoplasty procedure? My nose has a big ridge in it and actually causes my vision to be impaired at certain angles. Also this may be causing my left eye to weaken. Would this be considered for a medical rhinoplasty, rather than cosmetic.

I also have noticed in photos that I have nickle sized swelling on each side of my nose about halfway up, right below the bags of my eyes. I am a 54 y/o female. And no this isnt for a superficial reason of achieving the look of "perfection." This is for me. I got into a accident when I was younger, and I broke my nose. What's the best way to find the right plastic surgeon for rhinoplasty? I'm in the Austin, TX area and am about to start my search for a plastic surgeon for rhinoplasty. My friend who also had this procedure said I need to go to L.A. to get the best surgeon because they do plastic surgery procedures like a million times a day so they're the best/most experienced and practiced. But that would require a LOT of traveling hassles and I don't even know how to start looking/screening for the "right doctor", and trying to have this done in L.A. would just add to my confusion. Do I really need to go to L.A. to feel comfortable that I'm in the best hands, or are there doctors in the Austin area, or even Dallas or San Antonio (yes, that would involve traveling too but it's closer than California!) that are just as distinguished and on "that level"? Any advice on how to filter through doctors, what questions to ask, how to find the doctor who's right for me, etc.....pretty much any advice on this whole process would be great. Thank you!

Is the experience of having Rhinoplasty better or worse than that of stomach wash after excessive alchohol? Recently I took an over dose of alchohol and was given stomach wash for the same. It was a really terrible experience. I've to mentally prepare myself for a Rhinoplasty. I'd sinus draining once that too was terrible but manageabl;e. How long should the nose be swollen for following a rhinoplasty? I had a rhinoplasty procedure done in December of last year when I was 18. I've always had a pretty large bump on my nose that bothered me a lot. Well, it's now 10 months later you can barely tell I had anything done. There is still a very large bump and it is sore at times. I have read that swelling should be completely gone by 4-6 months. I went back to my plastic surgeon and he keeps assuring me that everything is fine and a little pain/swelling is normal. I last went in August and he requested I come back in December! Will my insurance cover a septo/rhinoplasty? Im 18 and some time back I went to the ENT doctor and he said to wait until im 18 to have my deviated septum fixed with a septoplasty. Now that im 18 my insurance will cover the septo. But I was wondering if they would cover a rhinoplasty, as I have a bump and excess cartilage on the tip of my nose as a result from that deviated septum im guessing. Insurance papers state.... Can anyone help me explain to my mom why I want to get a nose job and how it feel after surgery? Here's the deal, I ve been wanting to change my nose ever since I was little. You see it has like this bump on it and it's totally humiliating. I ve been asking my mom for one for years but she never wants to talk about it. She tells me that I shouldn't change it but she grew up in china and has a chinese nose so she doesn't know who I feel because everyone had a nose like her where she lived. rhinoplasty question? i've seriously been considering rhinoplasty for about 3 years. i've been to consultations and spoken to several surgeons about the procedure all of which concur that i am a good candidate for it. after meeting with them all but one recommended that i get the chin implant to coincide with my new nose. how many of you who have had the procedure got the chin implant too? what was your pain like? i have a pretty good tolerance for pain but still curious about it. how long did it take you to look "normal" again? anyone unhappy with their results? also, if you've never had a nose job but other form of plastic surgery i'd love to hear how you did/what you had done and your results. thankyou in advance. also if this isn't too intrusive how much did you spend? price isn't too big of an issue seeing as it's my face we're dealing with i just want to know the range seeing as i got a very vast range throughout my consultations.

Rhinoplasty anyone? Im considering a mild rhinoplasty, if i do it during the next month or two would it be visibly healed in time for september when i start college. Im going to an out of town college so there would be no one there who knew my old nose so to all these new people my nose would be natural. I know its not totally healed that quickly but will the brusing and swelling go down by then. However, I've actually gotten a lot of compliments on my nose because it looks more like European nose (in which it has a bridge) rather then an Asian nose which has no bridge and is more flat. Still, I'm unhappy with my nose. When I was a teenager, I actually used to push my nose up to alter it temporarily. I was very happy with the results, however it would only last a few hours... Now, I'm in my mid twenties and seriously considering having rhinoplasty. Have any of you ever gotten a nose job? If so, how did the procedure go? Are you happy with your new nose? Any regrets? What kind of pain medication do they offer afterwards? How bad is the pain on a scale of 1-10 (1 being little or no pain at all and 10 being the worst). Thanks in advance.

Septoplasty and Rhinoplasty? I have a huge septum deviation and doctors have recommended a septum correction surgery for a long time (I already underwent a simple procedure 15 years ago). Moreover, the shape of my nose is looking weird and funny due to constant use of tissue papers to get rid of the running nose. I am thinking of undergoing septoplasty and rhinoplasty surgeries. In someplaces it is mentioned that rhinoplasty itself can correct the deviation but others mention septoplasty as the one for correcting deviation. My questions are: Am I required to undergo both these surgeries to correct the two problems? Can I undergo these together at the same time? What would be the approximate cost of each of these surgeries in India? Is the Nanavati hospital in Mumbai a good one to undergo these surgeries? Am I selfish for wanting rhinoplasty done? I am a freshman in college and as it turns out, everything on my face is in proportion except for my nose. It is so over bearing! I am considering rhinoplasty? and I had a consultation with 2 very good doctors in NYC....both doctors recommended that I get a chin implant. I never considered this before, and I didn't know my chin was 'weak'. Now, I am not sure what to do. When I look at the digital image(which I have both with and without the chin implant) I am torn as to whether I should do it. It does make my face look cleaner, and it does make my nose look better...I just want to be completely happy with my rhinoplasty, and not sure if it's the chin implant that I need to do so. Also, I am concerned with what the front of this is going to look like(this they can't do in the image..only in profile). My other big concern is any complications... I don't want to lose feeling in my lip/chin, and I don't want to have an allergic reactin or something. Anyone have Dr. A Kevin Muiderman for plastic surgery? I'm having a Septo/Rhinoplasty procedure done in a few months and he is my plastic surgeon. I've met with him and he was very reassuring and knowledgeable. I felt very comfortable with him as my doctor. However, I just want to make sure. After all....it is my face he will be working on. I've done some research on him over the internet and I have not found any red flags. But I really want to speak with someone who had him as a doctor. Is there anyone out there who was one of his patients or knows one of his patients?
NOSEJOB (rhinoplasty)? i am considering getting the procedure done after i save up enough money, not so i look drastically different just to make me more confident about myself i think if i were to have one i would have to get the open procedure from what i have researched. Do you know of any new procedures that are being tried out? And of the old ones if you have had it; sharing your experience from finding a surgeon to the recovery would be extremely helpful. Rhinoplasty recovery time, what can and can't I do after surgery? This summer I was planning to get the procedure done but I can only open up 2 weeks then I have to go to my college orientation for 2 days. I would then be home for another 2 weeks before I go to a ranch in Wyoming for a vacation. Would this schedule give me enough time to heal and still allow me to enjoy my vacation? I would really like to get the procedure done this summer, but if it comes down to it I geuss I could wait untill next summer. I havent had a consultation yet, I just want to see if I should pay for one now or if I should wait for a better time.
ent rhinoplasty? Well i have a crooked nose that affects my breathing but honestly it does bother me that my nose is off center and looks bent. I have bad credit ( which sucks ) so i tried the doctorssayyes.com and they would finance me at 1000 down and 36 payments at 280. Doing the math altogether it comes out to 11 thousand dollars !! So i am insured and thought id see an ENT specialist first and see what they can do. ANYONE HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH THIS ? I know you cant see my nose but it looks crooked but i can put my finger on my nose and push just a tiny bit it looks perfectly straight. It cant be an extensive procedure ???? So what costs am i looking at ? Are ENT's significantly cheaper than surgeons.... THX

Are rhinoplasty's dangerous? I want to get a "nose job." When I was younger I was hit with a baseball, long story short, my nose needs to be fixed, just for aesthetic reasons. Does anyone know if having this procedure is life threatening?

I've to get a rhinoplasty done and my nasal septum is only a bit deviated and i suppose the dorsum is also dev the deviation is very apparent only when I lift my head up. Will thi make my surgery any less painful and alleviate the need of packing inside the nose. Overall how painful is the procedure. Is it very suffocating. I'm a wslightly weakhearted. Please somebody guide me.

Anyone had rhinoplasty? I am in the process of finding a doctor right now. I made an appt with one for the end of the month. I just have SO many questions, and I know I can research online, I just want to hear it straight from peoples' experiences. What is recovery like? Is there a lot of bruising? What are the chances of waking up during the procedure? (MY WORST FEAR) Obviously it changes your appearance, but does the doctor talk about how it will change your smile or the way you talk? Also, I know they make a small incision under the nose above the lip, but can you visibly see it? If your nose has a large tip with a lot of cartilige, can that be fixed? Question about Rhinoplasty? Overall my nose is straight, its no major problem but it's just that the nasal bone on the left side is sorta pushed in and it just makes my face look a little uneven (a compressed nose is what i think they called it), the backbone of my nose(septum?) is perfectly straight though and so is the other side. What do you guys think the success rate would be for them to actually fix it and make it look just like before or the other side ?? in other words, do you think that it's a simple enough procedure for no mistakes? they said that they need to re-brake it first...and my surgeon graduated from the University of Birmingham in 1983, and he majored in Otolaryngology if that helps. oh and how long do you think the healing process will take if they re-brake it ?? the pushed in nasal bone is also causing some breathing problems, the doctor thought it was allergies so he gave me some flonase but it hasnt worked. the cause of my compressed nose is due to a football injury, kneed in the face, it hurted like hell! i would never get plastic surgery for cosmetic reasons.

Has anyone who is Asian had a nose job? I need some info..? Well, since Asian noses are considered "ethnic" rhinoplasty, the procedure would be different from a white person's. If you've had one, could you tell me what it was like? I was thinking of seriously slimming down my nose (I think it's too wide) and maybe making the bridge higher. Plastic Surgery loan? (college student, female)? I am thinking about having a cosmetic procedure done. Rhinoplasty(nose job) to be exact. I have found out that there are loans available. My only problem is will I qualify for one if I am a college student (20 yrs old) with no job (but my parents help me out financially, so I would have the means to pay the loan back with). Any feedback from people who have had nose jobs?? My son accidently broke my nose when he was 4 years old. He was sitting in my lap and moved his hand upward and it hit my nose. There was this loud pop and my nose has never looked the same since. There is now a small bump on my nose and I would like to get rhinoplasty to correct it. Plastic surgery for small noses? All I see is plastic surgery for rhinoplasty which is to make a big nose smaller.... Is there a procedure that will make my nose more pointy and give my face a profile? I think button noses are ugly and makes me look "inferior"...i can't really explain it, I think noses that are bigger than mine tend to be more photogenic and stronger....

If a cosmetic surgeon is telling me that I won't be satisfied with the result is it a safe bet to choose him I had a dispute with a military doctor against whom I reported. After that he became vindictive towards me and subsequently i was asked to get a clearance from a psychiatrist. The psychiatrist declared me medically fit for the procedure. Now since getting surgery from the same surgeon is out of question I approached one of his collegues in the same hospital,who seems to be very half hearted about it and says things like-'you won't be satisfied with the results'. It is a rhinoplasty. Sometimes he says that I don't need it, which is offcourse bullshit since his collegue only recommended it. I have a DNS as well as a bulbous tip. Now after dithering and procastinating for an year, after I approached him this other surgeonhas agreed to perform it. But still keeps muttering things like i told you you don't need it and all. Now will this attitude of his work in my favor (keeping his objectivity intact ) or against me (making him biased).He'll be doing it for free. What should I do?
Plastic Sergury at age 15 1/3 years old? Im getting plastic sergury this year. I made a deal with my parents that if the procedures I want dont HAVE TO be done under general anethesia..that they would pay for the procedures and let me get them done.
