Why type of cosmetic dental surgery is there for gaps between teeth? I have gaps between my front teeth, starting with my first bicuspids around to my front central incisors. Basically saying my front eight teeth have gaps..lol. Its doesn't look bad or anything and the gaps are even on both sides. I just want the gaps gone for a better smile. I'll be happy with any information or advise on what I can do to fix the problem. Know any good cosmetic dentist in the Texas or Louisana area?
Anyone ever had dental cosmetic surgery to fix a 'gummy' smile? I just want to know pricing and what it was like. I don't have a gummy smile really, its just in the sides of my mouth when I smile I can see a bit of gum that I don't like. I'm not even sure if a dentist would do it, its such a small amount. but it bothers me, so no harm in trying right?
Cosmetic Dental Surgery? I have low self-esteem from how bad my teeth look. My two canine (i'm not sure if that's the name) teeth on my top row stick out when ever i raise my lip even a little bit. my whole bottom row is crazy overcrowded also. Truthfully, i should have looked into braces a long time ago but now i'm feeling the pain...i really don't want to get braces at my age especially since my job requires me to look mature and responsible. A young girl walking into a job interview with braces sucks. The question here is: Will a surgeon be able to fix my top teeth so it looks natural? and one of my dentists said that i wouldn't be a candidate for invisible braces because my teeth were too bad. but what if i only got it for the top row (all the other teeth are properly aligned but my two canines stick out). agggggh please help. i don't want to go to another country for surgery either. Thanks.
how much does dental surgery cost for closing a gap? i have lots of gaps in between my teeth but other than that they are straight. i also have an overbite and a crossbite. how much does cosmetic dental surgery to close up the gap and make my teeth look good cost [on average]
How does hypertension affect dental surgery? I have going to a dental college for evaluation for crowding teeth. Everytime I would visit the dentist, they would take my blood pressure and everytime it would read high. So they suggest I see a doctor, wherein it was confirmed that my blood pressure was high. I have been put in medication to bring it down, and it does go down incrementally. But I am anxious for the corrective dental (not only cosmetic, but I have a condition where the jaw bones have been slowly eroding since I was young) surgery. How does hypertension affect my health in prepartion for surgery?
How can I know the top cosmetic dental surgeries in my area? I want to put a porcelain bridge on my upper front teeth iin Cambridge. However, I do not know how could I find out which dental surgery will do a proper job. I want my bridge to look just like my own teeth or almost like that. Just like celebrities have. I have seen people with bridges and some of their bridges look like horse's teeth. They look somehow bulky. Also, what would be the best type of the porcelain bridge? I have seen some on the websites which have some mettal on the inner side of the bridge and I do not like it at all as it looks cheap. Many thanks!
can u have a student preform cosmetic surgery? you know how you can go to a place where they teach ppl to cut hair and get your hair cut there for 1/4th of the cost? the same can be done at dental schools and medical centers for low cost care.. im wondering if this is true for cosmetic surgery? if so does anyone know anything about this? thanks!
What is the correct name for this cosmetic surgery procedure? Hello everyone! I have made a (rather badly drawn) diagram of the before and after of the procedure (for a male face); http://img69.imageshack.us/img69/7803/malefaceqy3.png The procedure usually takes around 3 hours to complete, 3 years of dental work is usually required beforehand. In 'my words', it's makes the bit between the bottom of your nose and the top of your chin come forward, this creates a more masculine looking effect. I have completely forgotten what the doctor called it and was wondering if anyone knew. Many thanks for your help!
Orthognathic surgery vs. cosmetic options? I'm contemplating orthognathic surgery as well as some other orthodontic and cosmetic procedures. I have an underbite (class 3 malocclusion) and am missing a tooth (was just born without it) so as a result, I also have spaces in my top teeth. I'm also looking into veneers to correct the size and shape of my teeth. My concern is more cosmetic (dental implant, invisalign to fix the spacing, and veneers on almost all my top teeth). However, I'm concerned about not fixing my bite via the corrective surgery before i begin the process. I've seen orthodontists and cosmetic dentists, and was wondering what options anyone with similar issues have pursued? Anyone with experiences with invisalign to correct an underbite, or the jaw surgery? Also, I'm having a hard time convinving my HMO to pay for the surgery. Should I just go for the cosmetic changes? Should I listen to my orthodontist and go for the surgery? Anyone who can reccomend a dentist in San Diego gets bonus points!
Dental Cosmetics. How much does it cost? Mexico a good idea? Dental Cosmetics. How much does it cost? Mexico a good idea? I was considering invisalign but I am now looking into Dental cosmetic surgery. Currently there are 3 issues I have with my teeth, - Spaced apart - Fangs (if you ever seen a vampire's fangs; that's what I have they are not as big/long but you can tell, and it' pretty sharp) - Some of my bottom teeth are uneven Those are the only issues I have, I do not think invisalign can fix those problems. I am wondering what would be the cost to have dental cosmetics done? Also, I was told that have dental cosmetics done in Mexico was a LOT cheaper than here in the US. I am wondering would that be a good idea if I found a good professional dentist there?
In two days i will be going to the dentsit and i need to know what to expect? In two days i will be going to the dentist and i need to know what to expect. I'm only going for a regular dental check up and cleaning but, i have two teeth each with one hole in them. When i go to the dentist will they do an emergency extraction , or a root canal , or give me a cap? Even if they don't do this during the same day that i come in for a regular dental check up, will they do this eventually. Plus i may need braces. How do you think this will work out? And If you have EHP insurance are you covered for caps and dental cosmetic surgery?

Does each div.parent pay half for 17y.o.'s plastic surgery? Large bump done while surgery to breathe better. My son needed septal surgery and asked if he could have the large bump removed also. The ins. pays for all but the surgeons fee; dr thought it was a good idea too. It was way out of proportion to his face. The divorce papers say each pays half uncovered medical expenses. In another part the papers it says both must agree on cosmetic or dental surgery which can change the integrity of structures. My ex's pattern is to only respond to calls or emails, even from my son, when very vocally opposed to things. I emailed all the details, costs, and asked for his input and opinion, etc.He didn't answer. He called my son and was excited for him about it, and asked when and where, to be there. I took this as him not objecting or being opposed to the surgery or anesthesia, and as him consenting. I am about to send him his half of the bill, and expect a fight. They love to fight. Someone said a judge might favor me since I've bought his two cars, paid insurance and gas, his tuition, graduation expen
Can anyone recommend a solution to a dental problem? About 8 years ago, I had a dentist drill into my mouth before the novocaine kicked in. Since then I have been terrified of the dentist. I need: 5-6 broken teeth in the back fixed / removed, I need 2 dental implants (or whatever) to plug in 2 teeth missing in the back of my visible smile. Cost is a big issue, and I have 2 things to help me. 1. insurance and 2. an FSA (flexible spending account) which is money taken out of my check each week which is put into an account that you can use for medical expenses as you wish (even cosmetic surgery.) I can use $3000 a year. I am wondering about dental colleges- do they do dental work at a discount? What about dentists that cater to people who freak out? Could I just start over w/ dentures? I am new to Columbus and am so confused where to start. Are there medical counselors? The dentist who drilled into my mouth w/out novocaine is being sued by about 40 people for mistreatment and will lose his license, I'm sure. I'm not in the lawsuit.
have you lost a friend or relative through operation/surgeries? i want to know how dangerous is general anestesica? has anyone you know died during a surgery? i have heard a lot of people dont wake up , go into a coma and after sometime come back to life! death through general anestesia is very rare but that doesnt mean it cannot happen to you. to have a cosmetic or other surgery is a risk you take with your life. maybe you will live after the surgery or maybe you never wake up... so what makes you go for a surgery for a non life threatning condition like cosmetic surgery , dental surgery ... so on when you know there are chances of never waking up
Have anyone heard of a Exodontist? I was looking up a Exodontist, and it is the extraction of teeth, which sounds like a helpful job in cosmetic dental surgery, so if anyone know please reply and also I would like to know their salary.
dental surgery?? im very interested in having cosmetic dentistry performed on my teeth as im very paranoid about them i was wondering if anyone has had the surgery done themselves or even considering it. any stories or advice welcome please.
Are dental braces considered cosmetic? Ok so we have badgercare medicare. it covers every thing except cosmetic things like plastic surgery. My teeth are soooooo f***ing f***ed up i really need braces. im 14. please. OK its medical assistance. I also live in wisconsin
Is there ANY insurance that will cover my particular dental work? I am 23 and have had crooked teeth all my life, I finally saved up 5-6k to get braces started, but the orthodontist dropped a bomb on me and said I needed oral surgey, 30,000 dollars worht of it. I got a second opinion and it was about the same. My insurance is Aflac and they won't cover it because they consider it cosmetic surgery, but I have never been confident about my smile and it has always held me back in everything. I was so excited about finally getting them started and now I am back to square one. My teeth are not mildly crooked, they are very very out of place and on top of that I have a severe and uncomfortable overbite, to assume this is just for cosmetics is retarted to me. Someone please tell me there is an organization or insurance or something anything that can at least help me get started, I'm a college student so going into more debt is not a fun idea to me, Thanx for any answers.
Are there any dental whitening products that will work on caps/crowns/veneers? A nasty little incident involving ski hockey and an ice puck 8 years ago left me with a moutful of capped teeth. I'd like to whiten the (I believe) porcelain caps but cannot afford all new caps (not covered this time by insurance because it is now "cosmetic" surgery). I'd even settle -- grudgingly -- for them to return to their original state of whiteness. Are there any products that will work to restore capped teeth? I use Arm & Hammer baking soda & peroxide toothpaste but need something stronger. If anyone knows of a way to achieve this WITHOUT getting all new caps I'd truly be grateful. Thanks!
Does the Military cover Dental Implants? And when I say that I mean does the military in a severe enough case cover costs of full mouth restoration via Teeth in a Day procedures or permanent implants for the entire mouth. Or at least cover some of the costs. They offer 1 cosmetic surgery and I'd rather get this as opposed to LASIK because LASIK is cheap now.
Why should my daughter have to go to a dental school because I can only get mediacaid insur for her.? Why, as a single mom on disability, should I have to take my daugher to a dental school to have specialty work done on her teeth and gums. She has a rare genetic disorder, this is not cosmetic surgery. But no dentist that accepts medicaid will work on her and why should I really trust a student in a dental school to help her when established dentists wont even perform the work that desperately needs to be done. Aren't there any reputable dentists that will do pro bono work? I'm tired of hearing about things that are being done in other countries, what about our children in America. Why should my child suffer because I have a limited income due to disability. Just for the record, the dentist who did accept medicaid and saw my daughter was neglectful and didn't know what he was doing, now my daughter has an abscess and a fistula, that all could have been prevented if the dentist knew what he was doing. Anyone know of any reputable dentist that would do pro bono work on my daughter
I'm looking for funding or grants for help in getting dental implants. can anyone help me find assistance? I am in the planning stages of the dental implant process and I will need some grants or funding of some kind in order to complete the process. I have found a couple sources that I am applying to and feel that the more I have to apply to will increase my chances of getting chosen for the grants. I'm not looking for pro bono, nor do I want to go to a dental college because I live in rural Montana and traveling to a college would not work too well on my limited budget. I have found a implant specialist here in state who I'm working with to get the surgery planned. I'm hoping there are sources out there that I can apply to in order to get this done. This is not being done for cosmetic reasons but for health reasons. Thanks for any information you can share with me.
How does one become a guinea pig for dental research.? I live in Charlotte, NC and would like to become a model for cosmetic denistry, in particular the "teeth in an hour" technique. I am sure there are dentist who are considering using this method and need someone to practice on. I would be willing to travel. I have seen the surgery on nobel biocare web page. The surgery costs 25,000.00!! I would never be able to afford that amount as I am on disability. I would like to return to work but am afraid my present smile would impede an already nerve racking process. Please help if you can.
Are braces covered by dental insurance? I need braces for eight months before I get orthanathic (jaw surgery) to correct a birth defect in my jaw and braces after that operation to. So it is not just for cosmetic reasons so would they cover just the braces? Im already paying for the surgery part.
Is a Cosmetic Dentist a Nice Career ??? I was watching Plastic Surgery: Before and After, with Omorosa and a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) was on the show, can you tell me (If any of you know) what is their salary and working status, basically express all !!!
Dental Insurance? I was in a car accident and can't work. I am on Medicaid and Medicare. I need braces to fix my teeth. Will Medicaid or Medicare cover it or do they see it as cosmetic surgery?
question for cosmetic or dental surgeon? i have a strong sqaure masculine jawline and it makes me self concious about my appearance. i was just wondering what my options are for reducing it i know botox can shrink the muscles, but i heard that was only if the muscle was enlarged from chewing gum or whatever, my jawline is bone cuz i can feel the bone and i was just born that way, but i do grind my teeth at night too cuz i cant help it. so maybe that is making my square jawline even worse. i was just wondering if you think i need botox or surgery? and what are the costs of each? here is a picture of me i dont know maybe it can help you determine what i need for reducing my jaw. and plz dont make fun of my appearance btw. http://i33.tinypic.com/2dc71xv.jpg
dental problem? i have heard you are allowed one cosmetic surgery in the miltary...soif i wanted all replacement teeth...would i be able to do that while i'm in the army?
Dental Underbite? Is cosmetic surgery the only way other than a retainer/braces to fix an underbite???
Need MAJOR dental work done!!!? Most of my teeth have cavities, a good portion of them are already starting to decay. Ive had an immense tooth ache for the past week, and my temp keeps falling out. I just found out my Denti-Cal got denied, LUCKY ME! I dont know what I should do. My teeth look horrible and i'm super self consious about it and i'm in pain. I need to get filings and if I can get the money, cosmetic surgery too. If i were to get cosmetic surgery, what would be the best route to go with? (Price ranges if you could) I'm just so frustrated and I figured I needed some input. Any input would be great, thank you so much :(
Cuba for Breast Augmentation versus healthcare for the poor average Cuban? would American UHC be any better? With an annual growth rate of 20% in health tourism, Servimed has done well in its task of marrying health and tourism. Many Italians now couple their annual vacations to Cuba with their annual dental work, while others come for cut-rate knee replacements or eye surgery. But perhaps Cuba's most popular medical service, and the one it heavily promotes to tourists abroad, is cosmetic surgery. Cuban doctors have become expert at breast implants, tummy tucks, liposuction and nose jobs, giving some doctors international reputations while letting them serve the Revolution as one of the country's best earners of foreign exchange. It's a "win" for the elite doctors and a "win" for privileged patients, who benefit from what has become the world's most extreme two-tiered medical system. It's also a "win" for the Cuban elite, from Castro on down, whom Byron describes as participating in a fitness culture. "When I treat tourists of 75 years of age, I am treating fit people with many healthy years ahead of them," he said. This is also the case with members of the Cuban elite. "Castro is fit, the others at the top in government, at age 75, are fit. They take care of themselves. "But an ordinary Cuban of 63 or 64 years is already feeble, an old man." For the poor, beaten down by the system and denied basic medical care, the medical system is all "lose." First published in the National Post

How can I get "pro bono" dental work or denturesI am single woman unemployed very low income & state won'thelp About 4 years ago I was in an abusive relationship that at the end I was in the hospital in intensive care, beaten with a crowbar, most of my back teeth I had swallowed during the attack the rest had been broken off, cracked or chipped. I have since then been to the dentist one time when I had insurance, a job,and a family member that would help me out during the recovery. Right now I am unemployed,in a town that I truely don't have anyone that I can rely on to truely help if needed,my living situation is I now rent a room in a home that has no real privacy, and my transportation is currently bus, bike,or walk and I can't do that after oral surgery.Medical coverage in this state that I live does not cover "cosmetic" procedures and dentures,or bridges, caps, etc. are considered cosmetic. They will pay to pull all your teeth but they will not help get you new ones!! I like to eat.So..What can I do to get my teeth fixed and looking decent so that I can someday again smile.
I had 2 dental implants done yesterday. At first the periodontist told me that there would be 2 "screws" stick sticking out and the next step would be to see my dentist to get the crown done in 10 weeks time. However after the surgery, he told me that for cosmetic reasons, he would let the gum heal over the screws, then he would place the post (I guess he means the part that would be sticking out, meaning of cos another round of local anesthesia) in a few weeks time. My questions are: Is that the normal procedure? How long is it usually before the crowning is done? I would still have return to him, "under his mercy" so to speak, that's why I didn't want to antagonise him by appearing fussy. I just found out that the caps he used to screw over the implants are really small ones so that the gun can heal over it. He would be taking them out to screw on the actual ones (those that should stick out) in 2 mths.
Embarrassed by missing tooth? Yesterday when I had my wisdom teeth removed, they also had to remove a molar which had had a bad root canal done. It is 1 from the back molar. You can't see it when I smile, but if I laugh or open my mouth really big, you can sure see the gap. I've looked into getting an implant, but they are so expensive...around $2,500. I have dental insurance through my job which covers $1,250/yr. But does dental ins cover implants, since that is considered a "cosmetic" surgery? I just feel so humiliated now that I have a missing tooth and am worried that everyone will give me a hard time for it. Stupid to worry about what others think of me, I know, but I can't help it, before this bad root canal was done, I had such pretty teeth!

I have a question regarding my wage as an expanded dental assistant.? I've worked as an expanded assistant for a Cosmetic Dentist for 10 years now. I am his lead assistant and am currently making $19.00 an hour. We do lots of oral surgery, Implants, crowns, veneers, composite fillings, zoom bleaching ect., ect. We also do conscious sedation and I'm in charge of administering all the I.V.s. I'm also in charge of all the ordering of Implants and supplies for the office. I enjoy my job dearly, but am starting to feel taken advantage of. I stand all day during chairside and the back office never takes a break during the day, I usually get a 30 min. lunch. The doctor tells the front office that his assistants are the work horses of the office, but his front office makes $26.00 an hour and gets to relax and visits amongst themselves throughout the day. Should I be feeling taken advantage of?

Are oral surgeons MD? Don't oral surgeons have to go to dental school, then specialize in oral surgery? So technically they are not doctors right? Also, do you think it would be great for someone to open up their own practice as an oral surgeon AND orthodontist? Or do you think that it would be better to stick to one or the other? I like both, but would it be hard. Do some oral surgeries take a long time, which would make it hard for the surgeon to atttend to his orthodontist patients? OR do oral surgeries generally not take long? What can Oral surgeons specialize in? Can they do cosmetic, or they would they have to specialize in that? Are oral surgeons' jobs a bit tedious, because all they do are pull teeth, or do they do more? Do you think there will be less need for orthodontists/oral surgeons in the future? Please answer ALL the questions, thank you.
Low Cost Cosmetic Surgery in the United States? First of all the way I see it, what makes up a person is their values, their beliefs and how they treat others in life. The body is a "house" for the person. As a result it is very possible to like yourself, but not be very happy with the "house" you live in. With today's procedures that can correct almost anything, it does not make sense to live in a "house" you are not happy with. I am such a person. I like the person I am but am not very happy with the "house" I find myself in. I have checked out a number of sites that offer low cost cosmetic surgery in other countries. Does anyone know locations in the United States that over reasonibly priced dental implants, face lifts, breast implants, and other procedures and will finance over time. To those that insist cosmetic surgery means you don't like yourself, keep in mind your physical body isn't truly who you are, and is just a shell that you live in. Cosmetic surgery doesn't change the person, but the shell. I guess I should clarify. I don't mean cheap, but reasonably priced cosmetic surgery anywhere in the United States. From what I have read the prices are lower in smaller towns. Would be more than willing to travel for a better price. I agree most of the time you get what you pay for, but that doesn't seem to be the case with cosmetic surgery. There just seems to be a lot of greed. On one hand if you go to most any site that deals with cosmetic surgery they make the procedures sound simple, but yet want to charge a small fortune for everything!!! The breast enlargement really seems over priced. The average cost where I live seems to be around $5,000. Seems like a lot to insert a couple of bags of salt water into a person's chest!!!
