What is the correct name for this cosmetic surgery procedure? Hello everyone! I have made a (rather badly drawn) diagram of the before and after of the procedure (for a male face); http://img69.imageshack.us/img69/7803/malefaceqy3.png The procedure usually takes around 3 hours to complete, 3 years of dental work is usually required beforehand. In 'my words', it's makes the bit between the bottom of your nose and the top of your chin come forward, this creates a more masculine looking effect. I have completely forgotten what the doctor called it and was wondering if anyone knew. Many thanks for your help!

Is correcting a speech slur (in regards to orthognathic surgery) a cosmetic/dental reason to have it done? The only reason I would need orthognathic surgery is to correct a speech slur. Cosmetic surgery while on vacation with your child? During the first 6 weeks of summer, my hubby's ex-wife has custody of our oldest daughter. She is allowed to take her out of the country for up to 2 weeks during that time per the custody agreement. She is Peruvian and has family there that our daughter sees every 5 years or so. Cosmetic Surgery not really helping meet better guys? I'm 27 going on 28 and have had trouble meeting men who meet my level of standards, I'm college educated with a masters degree, I have a very good income level and for a long time I wondered why I couldn't meet the right kinds of guys. For a while I felt like perhaps my appearence was part of the problem though my friends and family told me it wasn't. Well, I've had a few cosmetic procedures done and it's been almost a year since I've had work done and I'm not really having any better luck. I've tried dating sites, personals, being set up by friends and nothing really works, I haven't had a "serious" relationship since I was 19 and have had numerous bad experiences meeting people. Some have said that perhaps my standards are set too high on the kinds of men I'm willing to meet (this is in part due to some bad past experiences). Does anyone have any other suggestions on what I should do to change my approach? It was just minor stuff involving my nose which wasn't completely straight, it wasn't SERIOUS cosmetic surgery but I had the idea in my mind that it was part of the problem.

Is cosmetic surgery getting out of hand? Everyone has issues with their bodies, including me, and I do believe that some need it and are entitled to it. But why should relatively normal and healthy people be allowed to have it just because they have money, or can borrow money, to pay for it? I would also question the ethics of the people who perform these procedures for profit and the minds of people who go through this to massage their egos and tend to their own vanity. I have no interest in cosmetic surgery. I'm happy with my body and the woman in my life loves me the way I am.

I have an underbite (class 3 malocclusion) and am missing a tooth (was just born without it) so as a result, I also have spaces in my top teeth. Affordable Cosmetic Surgery? Every human that lives will suffer from the effects of aging. Cosmetic surgeons can not stop the sure and certain death that aging brings, but they do have the power to slow down the systems of aging. Note to some: Having cosmetic surgery does not make you plastic(most procedures remove not add) and it doesn't mean you don't like yourslef, but means you want to be the best you can be. I have done a lot of reading online about various procedures, and from what I have read, most should be very easy for a trained doctor. Yet the prices for all of it are just insane!!! Are there any doctores that charge a price that the average working person can afford? If not, why not? Charging less would help so many people!!! From what I have seen online, the cost are about 5 times what they should be!!! The way it is now, rich people get to live, poor people just get to work, get old and die!!! Having cosmetic surgery does not mean you do not like yourself, as the outward self is not who you are. Having your breasts enlarged is no different, than having a mole removed. I like who I am as a person, but at the same time I would like to make change to the outer shell so I can simply look better. It is true nothing about who I am will change, but I would look better in a swim suit. I find it silly to not change things you can change. In this day and age it does not make sense to accept things about yourself that you do not like as they are too easy to change. When I say I would like to find an affordable surgeron, I don't mean I am looking to find someone that is working out of thier basement, but more someone that isn't blowing a bunch of money on a fancy office, but rather has a nice clean basic practice, and they aren't greedy!!!

Cosmetic Surgery - Larger Eyes? I am writing in regards to cosmetic surgery in an effort to obtain larger eyes. I have very, close-set, small eyes that do not fit my oval face very well. I have tried every make-up tip imaginable, however they are just too small and "beadie." Would you trust going through blepharoplastic surgery? Its a cosmetic surgery on the eyes.? To elaborate, blepharoplasty is a procedure to reshape the outlines of the eye, whether its the upper or lower eyelid. Many ppl have been through cosmetic surgery, and knowing the risks that are involved with it, I'm wondering how others might feel if they were to go through blepharoplasty. It doesn't look like the military will pay for her breast implants, but is it possible that she can get a lower rate? I guess if her hubby wanted some form of cosmetic surgery it would be paid for, but she doesn't think look like she would be covered. Couldn't she just go to a base doctor and pay a lower rate for the procedure? Cosmetic surgery to hide dimple on chin? I have a weirdly shaped chin and was trying to find out what sort of procedures may help my appearance. My chin receeds slightly. It is weirdly shaped because I have a pretty deep dimple and so it looks as if my chin is a doughnut of flesh with eveything around it receeding. Whats more is that it is not quite symetrical either. I also have a double chin that appears quite easily depending on the position of my head/jaw/neck, which is weird since i'm a very skinny girl, I should have a better defined jawline. Anyone become addicted to cosmetic procedures? I have a lot of body hair, am loosing scalp hair, have dark undereye circles due to genetics, have developed a fat face etc... and am getting cosmetic procedures or plan to get them in the future to help me combat these problems. Can anybody give me information on cosmetic surgery for my teeth and jaw? Ever since I was a little girl I have had extremely crooked teeth, a wide gap, and a severe overbite. It is so bad that I have never even been able to completely close my lips because my teeth are in the way. I now have braces and have undergone a surgery that removed 2 teeth with dead roots, and exposed 2 teeth that were impacted. But because these teeth are still growing in, and they are in the front, i look like I am missing teeth and I feel like I have made little to no progress after a year and a half. I have a very low self esteem because of my teeth but I know that if they were fixed I could be bautiful. I'm almost 19 and I don't want to still have braces when I graduate from college. I'm considering having them fixed cosmetically so they can all be done in one or two sittings. Low Cost Cosmetic Surgery in the United States? First of all the way I see it, what makes up a person is their values, their beliefs and how they treat others in life. The body is a "house" for the person. As a result it is very possible to like yourself, but not be very happy with the "house" you live in. With today's procedures that can correct almost anything, it does not make sense to live in a "house" you are not happy with. I am such a person. I like the person I am but am not very happy with the "house" I find myself in. I have checked out a number of sites that offer low cost cosmetic surgery in other countries. To those that insist cosmetic surgery means you don't like yourself, keep in mind your physical body isn't truly who you are, and is just a shell that you live in. Skinny legs in need of cosmetic surgery....? I have very long skinny legs and I'd like to get them bigger. I tried working out in the gym but not even an inch increased. Why are blood tests standard procedure prior to surgeries/operations? I was wondering why doctors do numerous blood tests prior to surgeries and operations? A friend of mine recently had some cosmetic work done and she had at least two or three blood tests done in the days leading up to the procedure. Will laser hair removal show up on my medical record? I got laser hair removal about four years ago. It was a terrible idea, in hindsight. Not only was it ineffective, but it was extremely expensive. Today, I'm embarrased to have even considered this option. I'm always railing against cosmetic surgery and superficiality, and I feel like a complete hypocrite now. (I was convinced to do it by a series of pressures I won't go into now). Anyway, will this procedure show up on my permanent medical record? Do any cosmetic procedures, for that matter? Am I turning my back on my morals? As a Pagan, I have always been a firm believer in Nature. This is especially true in the case of cosmetic surgery. I have always held myself in high regards because I had never in the past even thought of recieving any kind of cosmetic procedure other than braces for my teeth. But let's face it shall we? At some point in a person's life, they are going to look at themselves and think "wow you look like crap" As a young teenager, I was an amateur model. Granted, I was a petite girl and had lots of potential as a model, but it never really took off. Then, as puberty took its full and hateful effect, I began to gain weight as girls naturally do. Ever since, I have stayed in perfect health (except I'm a smoker) but my backside, tummy and breasts aren't what they used to be. I've battled with eating disorders, running the line from eating too much to not eating at all. Now, I'm healthy and working towards my goal in the right way, yet I see my efforts not working. Then I went to Google... I began looking up procedures. I began to like what I saw, and then consider the operation for myself. But then I thought, "What are you doing?! You always protested against this type of thing!" My major hang up with cosmetic surgery was the idea of putting something foreign in the body. But I look at the procedures that I want. Nothing unnatural is going in. They are just rearranging or removing parts of what I already have. Am I wrong if I go through with it? Or is it ok since it is my own body material that is being implanted and not a piece of plastic? I have a realistic view of what I want these surgeries to achieve. I recognize that no one is perfect and even with the help of a scalpel, no one will ever be perfect. Just some of these procedures would help me feel better about myself. I am debating over lipo of my abdomine, back and thighs; butt augmentation; breast lift; and birthmark removal. I have worked very hard to get to this point. I have pushed myself in so many ways to feel good about myself. But sometimes, diet and exercise just don't cut it visually. And to the guy that said I don't try hard enough and that's why I gave up the modeling, I fell in love. I was with my first true love and I was more worried about spending every waking second with him and knowing that he thought I was beautiful was enough for me. Every photo taken of me then was candid and happy, not brooding and posed. And lets face it, modeling agencies like their girls to be to-the-point and all business, not happy and care free and not caring if the world ended tomorrow... Ok, to get the point across, I am NOT lacking in the confidence department. I know I'm not the best looking girl in the world, but I am very pretty! If I weren't, would guys approach me in public to flirt? I am not overweight, I just have a few stubborn areas that no exercise I've tried (And trust me, I've tried alot) will get out. My breasts aren't so saggy that you'd imagine them in the scary walk-in-on-grandma nightmares, they are just very large and I was neglegent at a time I should have consistently worn bras. My *ss isn't flat or unshapely, just for some reason, it is FAR too defined and the areas where it seams into my thighs and back need to be softened. And the birthmarks, well, as long as I'm fixing what few problems I have, I might as well get rid of the discolorations in my skin that make people think I have trouble with hygiene (the marks are this shade of brown and the way it looks on my body, it looks similiar to when a child hasn't bathed for a time and dirt has caked)
