Basically there were hairline fractures from a jump and they spiderwebbed across the bone. The doctor isn't sure it will heal properly and strongly with just a cast. He put her in a cast and will x-ray it again in a week to see how the healing progresses. If it isn't sufficient then he says he will do surgery to put in a plate and screws. surgery recovery? Back in October I seperated my shoulder playing soccer (a GK at my university). I loosened the ligaments in my shoulder, tore my labrum (cartiledge), and tore my rotator cuff slightly. Wart Surgery Recovery? i had wart surgery on monday and it really hurts. i left it untreated for a while, so it spread, and he had to cut a lot out. i now have 2 gaping holes in my foot and i'm in excruciating pain. he gave me nothing for the pain and just said to change the bandage every 24 hrs. its been almost three days and i'm still not able to walk on it and i need to get back to work this weekend. what should i do for the pain b4 my follow-up appointment? how long should the recovery take? and has anyone had a similar experience? i have been cleaning the wound when changing the bandage. i flush it out w/ water and put bacitracin on it.

Surgery recovery! How long will it take? recently(2 weeks ago) had double hernia surgery(groin area),,would like to know how long till its back to "normal" again,still having pain in the testicles and lower stomach area!!

Hammer toe surgery - recovery question? I had hammer toe surgery 3 1/2 weeks ago and the surgeon cut the bone to shorten the toe, repaired torn ligament(s), and removed scar tissue from a 2003 neuroma surgery. I had the pin removed 4 days ago. A few days BEFORE pin removal, I was having horrible nighttime toe spasms. The spasms have pretty much stopped since the pin removal. However, I now have horrible nighttime pain which feels like BAD burning and tingling - like needles poking it. The only relief I get is to lower my foot elevation and ice it (a lot!). I'm surprised about this. I'm on antibiotics for fear that it might be an infection - but that's been five days now - and I'm wondering if I have a circulation problem - or RSD? I had a possible RSD in my other foot a few years back; but it's been debated whether that was a true RSD or reaction to a cortisone shot (and I recovered and ran marathons since then - so I have my own doubts about the RSD dx). Any ideas? Anyone else experience this?

Shoulder surgery recovery? I had shoulder surgery for a torn labrum tendon (was experiencing alot of "catching") In may and did all my PT and was released from that in late november. I wrestled alot during the month of december and now am hearing alot of clicking noise and feeling some increased discomfort. Is this normal and will go away if i back off or did i re injure it in a serious way? also will it ever feel normal like before i injured it and what kind of training can i do to be able to do things like throwing hard or punching.

Kidney Stone Laser Surgery - Recovery time? I recently had laser surgery to remove a kidney stone. Everything was done with a camera/laser inserted up through my bladder into the ureter. ACL Reconstructive Surgery Recovery...can I play Baseball earlier? I'm not 100% sure yet, but both my ski coach and my dad think I tore my ACL at our high school ski state championships. I'm going in tomorrow to determine if I tore it. So my question is pertaining to my next sport, Baseball. Our first practice was last week, and I wasn't sure if I could play. Sport-specific activities are not begun until three months, and patients are usually not encouraged to go back to twisting or deceleration type of activities for 5-6 months following their surgery. " I'm going to check with the doctor obviously, but I was wondering if any of you thought I could be playing baseball sooner considering that the physical aspect, and potential knee danger is considerably less than many other sports (with the exception of sliding)

What do I expect after this? Also, Ive been on lortabs, a low dose, 3 a day, 5/500 mg, for about a month. My surgeon didnt say anthing about not taking these, before my surgery, just not after midnight the day of surgery. I have heard different stories on this. I know they are not anti-inflammatory.But I have fears. Also, How long before I can walk the tread mill, I just started working out at a gym, when this hernia started giving me severe problems. I am 14 i have a wierd type of hernia, it is so low it cant gett lower but the wierd thing is that the doctors said that i should wait for the hernia to get bigger so that the operation could be done, and told me to do EVERITHING that i usualy do. I had surgery on the 14, i had arthroscopic surgery on the left side of my left knee to do a lateral release and also they had to cut about a 5 inch incision on the other side of my knee for some ligament repair. but my question is.....Why would the little baby holes for the arthroscopic surgery hurt more than the large incision????? Umbilical Hernia surgery recovery? My question is, How long should it take a healthy/athletic 25 year old male to recover from this surgery. I am from Michigan, and with me being active in many sports, summer is a very important season for me. I have heard that it takes about a week to recover from the surgery itself, but then you cannot do any physical activities for about 2 months. This worries me because, I have bought a golf membership, am signed up for a mens softball league, will lose tons of muscle that I have trained so hard to get, will lose all progress from my training to run a 10 mile race at the end of summer, and will not be able to do any lake activities( tubing, wakeboarding, jetskiing). Obviously it is for the surgeon to decide when to get the surgery done (appt. on friday), but I am just wondering if I will be able to do any of these activities.. Hernia Surgery Recovery Period (and Issues)? I had open mesh surgery 3 weeks ago for inguinal hernia. I'm 40 and in good shape. After two weeks, it seemed to be getting better. Now, however, I'm having more burning than last week (2-3 inches below incision and around the whole area). It's a lower-level version of the sharp pain during days two to four. It goes up to and including the top of the part "down below" (guys know what I'm talking about). Also, due to extreme sensitivity down below, walking normally isn't comfortable. Instead, I walk with my legs more apart than usual to limit any tapping down there. Likewise, I cannot sleep on my stomach, and exercise is out. Has anyone had similar experience(s)? Maybe I'm just impatient, but I know a couple of people who had inguinal hernia surgery and felt 90-95% at 2 weeks. I'm obviously nowhere close. Thanks.

Anal Wart Surgery Recovery Time? Has anyone had this procedure, or known anyone who has had this procedure? I'm just wondering how long it will take for total recovery. Microfracture surgery recovery? I had microfracture surgery on jan 15. The doc says i have to b on crutches for 6 weeks so that will the upcoming tuesday. ACL surgery recovery? I'm 6 months post ACL repair by patellar allograft and a partial removal of a damaged medial meniscus on my right leg which is the dominant leg. I can do a one legged squat with my left leg all the way down to full knee flexion and get back up. I can only get to about 80, maybe 70 degree flexion on my right leg when I try a one legged squat on my right knee. Am I expecting too much too soon? Can someone offer a success story about recovery after knee surgery? I have basically fully recovered from the surgery and can get back to being physically active, but I'm finding it extremely difficult to get back to where I was before the surgery. It seems to be taking forever to reshape after having to be fairly sedentary for so many months. Can anyone offer a success story, including how long it took for you to regain your strength and shape??? Just wanted to add - my knee feels fine and I successfully completed physical therapy. Can I file for FMLA to go to drs appt if I was on comp approved sick leave after heart surgery for 12wks? union comp 80% sick leave pay. Doctors orders to return after 12 weeks. Didn't have to use FMLA due to benefits and contract. Now i need to use FMLA for follow-up drs appt and tests for on-going heart problems. company is in procedure of changing FMLA saying they can go back and pick up used drs approved sick leave time that was used in a 12 month period. Can they legally do this if I never had to previously file for FMLA? I don't know what to do? I don't want to run into absentee problems. I have only missed one day work in two years, except for open heart surgery and recovery time.

I need to have foot surgery, but with muliple procedures. What's recovery time and what am I dealing with? I have to have surgery on my right foot. Derotating my little toe, cutting out a ganglion cyst on top of foot, a small bunion off the little toe side (what the podiatrist called a bunionette), a planter's wart and a corn removed from the baby toe, a rhuematoid nodule cut out from the middle toe and a corn cut out from the 4th toe.. The wart and corn is from pressure from the little toe curving under 4th toe. Am I kidding myself to gave a goal to be back to normal by the 6th week after? How bad will the pain be? Or should I go with just a few procedures? I was prepared to have surgery on the derotation of the baby toe, but the rest is too overwhelming. I am scared to death and have 2 kids......I don't feel that I have time to be laid up for 2 months and not be able to walk. Any help, information, past experiences, opinions would be helpful. I do have rheumatoid arthritis and have been treating it for 5 years now.

My Golden is in pain from spleen surgery. Waiting on pathology to come back. Not out of the woods yet.? Please help. I picked up my 8 year old male golden retriever from surgery. The pain medicine has not worn off, but he seem to be in pain. Not wanting to sit down. He is just standing sround....waging his tail :). Is it ok to give him one pain pill. The doctor said wait 12 hours and give with food. I am in the middle of a blizzard conditions and getting out is not an option. I had to pick him up a day early from recovery because of the snow storm. Anyone out there any help. He looks great. Actually, aside from the pain. He looks very thirsty and hungry and cute.

Breast Reduction Surgery? I am looking for information mainly on the recovery process of the surgery. I am having it done in a month. I am 5'5, 120lbs, and a size D/DD. I am going down to a B. I know everyone heals differently and everyone handles pain differently but I am looking for a general idea of the recovery process. how long til you are normal again, how much pain, how long you are actually stuck in bed for? Am I expected to postpone my surgery because of jury duty? I have to have a surgery with a recovery time less than one week in the hospital. I got a jury duty notification with the court date the same time I will be in the hospital. It's not an elective surgery, but it's not so critical that I won't be able to move it back a couple of weeks if I have to. I would like to get it over with, though. I have never been summoned for jury duty before. Any help would be great.

Care/Prep for dog with broken leg? Having surgery done tomorrow? My dog broke his leg somehow today. Took to vet and he's two breaks actually a closed straight fracture and a hairline in same area. He goes for surgery tomorrow to be pinned and wired back together. He is expected to make a 100% recovery (barring any problems) and he's only a year old and good health, thank goodness! Of course I will talk to the vet tomorrow and find out all after care instructions but I was wondering if someone could give any helpful advice, tips or tricks on what to expect and how to prepare the house for him. Also, how to prepare my children (5,9). He's a 50 pounder, English Pointer and the nicest dog! Even in his pain and all he kept wagging his tail the whole time! He does have a cage already (crate trained) but I'm not sure how he's going to work it with the cast. Bunion Surgery - What do you think? What was your experience? I had bunion surgery (chevron procedure) on my right foot in the middle of December. I had my surgery on a Thursday and was back to work on Monday. When the doctor showed me my before and after x-rays, I was amazed. There is obvious improvement in the structure of my foot. He said it looked great! He did shave a bit of the bone but also did a chevron procedure & realigned my foot. I had a pin in but that got infected & was taken out early. I still have pain when I walk on my foot like I should. My foot still has a bump on the side. I was concerned with this bump until I saw that x-ray. Because of how nice the x-ray looked, I assumed it was still swelling. But I still have the bump! I find myself walking more on the side of my foot without even realizing it. Maybe recovery takes longer and I should be patient, I just don't know. Could it still be swelling? I'm especially nervous because my next surgery (left foot) is scheduled for March 15th. I still have some pain when bending my toe. That is why I am not yet walking on my foot correctly.

Information on exercise post Open Heart Surgery - what is possible? My father had a very difficult time deciding to go ahead with his triple heart by pass as my mother (his wife of 44 years) had been admitted into a hospice after battling melanoma cancer for 8 years. On the morning my father was taken away for surgergy my mother passed away. My father awoke from surgery to be informed Mum had passed. He has always been a very fit man his whole life and is continuing to exercise however the complexity of his situation has meant that he is often lacking energy probably suffering a little depression not that he would ever say that. He also suffered a virus and infection in the lung which delayed his recovery further. He is desperate to find a book that gives you a guide on how far you can push exercise after open heart surgery as he is keen to get back into it but does not feel his body is up for it which I believe is more psychological than physical. Does anyone have any books they could recommend on this subject???

Jaw Surgery vs. Mouthguard? I am a 25 yr. old female with an open bite. I had braces once and it didn't correct my problem. I went to the dentist recently and was told I have significant wear on my back teeth. I was told the only way to "fix" this problem was to have surgery. I went for a second opinion and was told that yes surgery would be the only way to fix it, but I could just wear a night guard while I sleep to keep from experiencing further damage. Since I have no pain in my jaw or clicking/locking I don't know what to do. It is a good time in my life to do the surgery since I have no kids etc....but it is still a surgery and that scares me. Not to mention the recovery is horrid so I hear. Please let me know if you have had something similar.....thank you.

LEEP Procedure? I am due to have my first LEEP procedure done by the end of the month. After 10 years of normal paps, I was upset when my recent one from last month came back with severe dysplasia. My doctor is going to call me this week with biopsy results and schedule a day for the surgery. I'm not too thrilled about it and the stress and worrying will not be over until the surgery is over. I have support from family, friends and my boyfriend but sometimes that doesn't help. What can I expect during the surgery, recovery period? I will be put out for this along with the general anesthesia.

insurance help with breast reduction surgery? I am a 35 year old woman and I have been considering getting a breast reduction surgery. I am pretty sure my insurance will cover it. I am a size 38K... I have been attending the chiropractor for months now because of back pain. My question is.... how do I go about getting the insurance to cover it. Do I need to get my Primary Care Physician to recommend it? Or do I just go to the plastic surgeon and hope that the insurance does not balk at it? I just dont want to end up with a nasty surprise of a bill of several thousand dollars after it is all over. Secondly... what can I expect with this surgery. I understand for such a drastic change ( I want to go to a C cup) that it will involve remoiving the entire nipple and removing the breast portion and then resewing it back on.
